"Jordana, I just got...an interesting call."

I looked at Shadow, my year-old border collie as he mauled the blue 'howler' Frisbee I just bought him. I grabbed the Frisbee and threw it, not wincing as it clattered against the hard wood floor. "Oh?" I asked as Shadow leaped back up on the bed, setting the Frisbee next to me and moving so that he was ready to shoot out the bedroom door, hoping I would throw the toy again. Which I did without really thinking about it. The only time Shadow wasn't fetching was between 9 P.M. and 5 A.M. when I insisted on sleeping. "Is everything ok?" Shadow chewed on the Frisbee for a second on the bed before setting it next to me once more. I threw it as he shot off to get ahead of it. My friend on the other end of my cell phone was hesitating, which worried me.

"I'm not sure." She was getting my attention as I ignored Shadow now. He decided to chew noisily on the Frisbee right in front of me.

"What was the call about?" I ordered, scowling at Shadow as he pulled the covers off my feet as he scratched at the Frisbee. Shadow paused, eyeing me, then set the Frisbee down next to me again. I tried to ignore him.

"It was a maid from the Four Seasons Hotel in Miami Florida by the name of Hendrika Speight."

I raised an eyebrow as Shadow gave in and laid down at my feet. "Why was she calling you?"

"Apparently Michael still has me in his wallet as an emergency contact."

~Michael...the spy.~ I stifled a groan. I didn't like spies. "Is he ok?"

"He's not dead..." She hid it well, but I could tell her tone was strained.

"Be cautious...I mean that in the emotional way Fi...but go. I can tell you have to."

"I have to." She repeated.

"I know." I assured her. "You gonna be okay? If you need me all you have to do is tell me and I'll come."

"Thanks Jordan." She took a breath, "Well, wish me luck."

A sad smile pulled at my lips. "Be careful Fiona."

"Always." With that she hanged up. I slowly sat my phone on the alarm clock in the shelf of my headboard. Michael coming back into Fi's life troubled me. I listened to music to try and calm down some before going to bed.
