“I will return to town in a few days or so. Wait for me at my apartment. Make sure it’s swept before you go in. I don’t need to lose any more of my agents before the war starts”
“Yes ma’am”
“And Jonathan?”
“Yes ma’am?”
“Please be careful. I know I have a lot of agents in bother Hawks and Cobras but there is still a lot of people on the other side”
“I will be careful ma’am”
I ended the call and went in search for Thomas. The news was a little overwhelming for the small group, especially Jeremy. He thinks I have betrayed him. I just never told him the full truth. Eventually he will understand all this anger towards me will just distract him from he real task. Melanie actually took it really well. I don’t know if it’s from shock or she new something was up with me. I made my way upstairs and spotted Thomas in the greenhouse. The news was shocking to him, because Killian was his wife. I didn’t want to kill her but she was starting to stick her nose in my business and it was starting to get dangerous for us.
“Can we talk?”
Silence. I didn’t have time for the cold shoulder. I need to go back into town and regroup. We’ve been scattered for far too long and I need to make sure we were all still alive.
“I don’t have time for this. We can either talk now or when we get back into town”
“We?”
“You didn’t think I would leave you guys out here by yourselves. I need to by my side to make sure you guys don’t start a war inside the war”
“Why would you think that we will be coming with you?”
“You called yourselves the Resistance. Either stay here and rot or actually join the fight. You will be given full access to all of our records and our intel when we get back to headquarters. We leave tomorrow morning”
More silence. I just huffed and started to head back downstairs.
“Are you really my daughter?”
The question was more of a whisper and I almost didn’t catch it. Was this what he was terrified of? The fact that I could be lying about that too. The fact that the last two years we had spent together were a lie. I have to admit, when Melanie bought me here, I was a little surprised to see him. It’s a day that I also could not forget and no matter how many drugs you pumped through my body, I would never forget it. Mum talked about him when I was of age but it was difficult for me to understand. The drugs were bad and I was badly addicted to them. There were strong years and weak days. My mind couldn’t comprehend that there was someone other than Steve that was my father. But her words stayed in my head. He was exactly as she described him.
“I don’t know if you remember this but about five years ago, we had a formal dinner among the Resistance members. You had only been recently been married to Killian and you tagged along to the dinner. I remember the cover up well, it was just a company dinner. We met then, though I look a lot different than I used to back then. I was amazed by how accurate my mothers description of you was. Pack your wings dad, it’s time we start”

I could hear the chatter of a group of people long people we even reached the lobby of my apartment building. It’s hard to cover up such a large scale group in such a small town. The doors opened and a loud cheer erupted through out the lobby. I smiled, actually grateful to see my fellow Resistance members again. I put my hand up and the cheering and clapping died down.
“I know you are all very happy to see me but don’t let the good news get in the way of our plans. Council meeting in my room in twenty minutes, the rest of you get ready. We go to war soon and I need to make sure everyone is absolutely ready”
They cheered again before they all headed into their own rooms. I owned this building. It was such a good cover up to have so many people in one place at the same time. It also have me a sense of peace as well. I knew where every single one of my members were. I led the small group up unto my floor and into my conference room. The council was already there and I ushered the group into some seats. I tapped the desk and the room fell silent.
“Alright let’s get down to business. The Hawks have gone ahead with their plan. There is a new drug and this time its more effective. Jackson needs to be taken down soon, otherwise they will release the drug onto the civilians. It is out job to make sure that doesn’t happen. Status report please”
“Group One and Two are currently with the Hawks. They say Jackson is starting to unravel. Most likely there hasn’t been any word from you in the past couple of weeks. Group Three to Six are still with the Cobras. Their report tells us that they are starting to decline. Jonathan can only do so much. He says that his brother is starting to get int he way of the plans”
“Why isn’t he here to report this?”
“You haven’t heard?”
“Obviously not. Why isn’t he here?”
“He fears his brother knows what he’s been doing, so he’s been lying low. I think he’s somewhere in Canada at the moment, doing a recon mission”
Hmmmmm, why didn’t he just tell me when I was talking to him on the phone? His brother was always a pain I knew I had to get past. If we don’t start with our plans soon, Jackson will wipe out all my allies. Fuck, I think I liked it better when I was a warrior. My drug infected mind, can’t think this way. I knew I should have gotten away when I should have.
“Alright. Sleep, I’ll write up new plans tonight. Someone get in contact with the Cobra’s team leader. There is something not right about that recon mission. All dismissed”
Everyone nodded and left the room. The small resistance group was almost too stunned to react. I needed to give them a job because I didn’t want them hanging around the head quarters all day. They will lead Jackson right to us.
“Nathan, set us the spare rooms for our guests. I’m going out”
“Where you going?”
“I’m going to kill Jackson"
