When the leaves are yellow you know that autumn has just arrived. When they turn orange you know that autumn is well underway. But when the leaves turn brown you know autumn is at its end and soon the trees will be bare. Seeing the pile of leaves under the trees makes a beautiful picture and good fun for my dog, but the only thing I see when the leaves sit on the ground at the end of the season is a mess that I have to clean up.
Orange leaves are my favourite though. They are something you don’t expect to see on a tree because when you think of a tree you picture this large trunk with lots of branches covered in green. Dark green. Bright green. Doesn’t matter. But you always picture green. Or at least I do. However, when autumn arrives and I looked out my kitchen window to see the orange leaves I always smile. They stand out against the yellow and the brown. They glow as the sun shines through them. I like yellow leaves as well. Almost as much as orange leaves but no quite. They are bright but they don’t seem to shine. Whether its pouring down with rain or the sun is shining, the orange leaves seem to sparkle.
