As an opening statement and a bit of an apology, I know that it took me some time to choose the winners. This was because I had not been home for about a week and a half, on a school history trip. I'm sorry to have kept you waiting, but here are the winners I have chosen! :)
First Place: I very much enjoyed the syntax and the rhyme schemes of your entry. The light-hearted imagery left me smiling, and the repetition of color in your imagery was interesting to me. Congrats!
Second Place: The memory of your mother's fondness of something so simple as burning leaves caught my attention immediately. I would not have expected anyone's meaning of fall to live in a smell. Your entry is short and to the point, and I really enjoyed it, much of my enjoyment coming from reasons that I cannot explain.
Third Place: I enjoyed the thorough description of fall and fall experiences, and I also very much enjoyed the way you structured your stanzas and lines. Many of the adjectives took me by surprise, juxtaposing casual/conversational experience with intellectual presentation. It was very nice to read.
Thank you to everyone who participated. I hope that you all have a very good time for the entirety of your fall, or what is left of it now. :)
