"May I have this dance?" Asked a man's voice from behind me. I turned and saw before me a man dressed in a green suit with a yellow bow tie. His dark bangs covered his eyes but from the corner of his thin lips revealed rims of metal plates, nuts and bolts. He's a mechanic doll with a soul. I grinned, nodded and gave him my hand to dance. His movements almost flowed natural but still static and tense of a mechanical body and at times whirred due to the wire. His hand was cool to the touch, yet he held mine softly. As we danced, we twirled across the dancefloor and noticed that he limbs on one leg. As I looked at him, he smiled broadly strenuously and awkwardly. Suddenly he halted, and his smile vanished. His limb leg is stuck.555Please respect copyright.PENANAIvYLlT69mg
"Let me help you." I assisted before he could apologize politely and looked closer at his leg. I soon noticed at his hip two cogs got hold of the fabric of his trouser. I pointed to the spot.
"I see, thank you." He thanked softly and tried to pull out the fabric.
"Does the trouser get in your way?" I wondered.
"With these, yes."
"I have an idea, if I may?" I pulled out my swiss pocketknife and unfolded the knife. "Cut off that part?"
"A wonderful suggestion." He chuckled content.
With three slashes, his hip was free within a blink of an eye.
He gasped amazed. "That went quick."
I smiled up to him as I unfolded the knife and stood up. "I may appear normal but only at first glance."
He offered his hand to continue the dance, I accepted, and from there, his legs moved in flowing motion like water. "What is your name?" He asked.
"Flora. What's your's?"
"My creator gave me the name Adam. How is it a lady like you carries a knife around?"
"Not as a weapon but to assist in my creation, unless the situation gives me no other options."
"What sort of creations do you make?"
"Similar to your creator but more to natural materials like wood, water, earth, fire and wind. My hands can give and take life."
"Is that the reason you're wearing gloves, to conceal your power, your gift?"
I nodded. "Not to let further objects come to life or die."
"I think you have a wonderful gift and there is nothing to be ashamed of." He smiled.
I gasped to his warm words and looked up. His eyes were still hidden beneath his dark bangs. For a mechanic doll, he knows well the emotions and situation.
He sniggered excited and swung me gracefully along with the music. "What if I removed your glove? Will I freeze stiff like a statue?"
"I-I don't know. It's the first time I've met a mechanical doll."
"If I may, I'm curious to find out." He pulled at the tip of my finger to pull away the glove. "Now let's see." He whispered and held my bare hand in his. His metal skin was cool to the touch, but I sensed something human within his touch.
Suddenly I felt a pulse. I gasped, but as I looked, nothing changed.
"Maybe your gift is immune to metal?" He wondered.
"Maybe." I gave insecurely.
Suddenly Adam's leg became stiff and halted our twirl of the waltz abrupt. So abruptly that I lost my balance and reached out my bare hand without thinking to the nearest table with a large vase of fresh-cut roses. Luckily the table wasn't knocked down, but soon the wood turned to ashes and the roses wilted within the vase. Ashamed, I wore on my glove but quickly Adam took hold of my hand gently and helped me on my feet. "My apologies." He nearly whispered.
As before I felt a strong pulse from his hand. I looked down and saw a hand instead of one out of metal and cogs. I gasped amazed. Quick-witted, I looked up, but his eyes were still hidden in his dark bangs. "Sorry, but I must see your eyes, Adam." Gently I lifted with the back of my hand his dark hair and found myself staring into two beautiful orange eyes. They shimmered with life and looked human. His face wasn't covered in metal plates. I found myself staring at a man face made out of flesh.
