"Do you know why you are alive after all of this time in prison?" Dei inquired his son.
"You want information," Vi responded, unwavering under the cold man's gaze.
"One can't acquire information from the dead. Again: do you know why I keep you alive, Vi?"
"If it's not information, Dei, then I don't know."
"... Do you know why your name is Vi?"
"You told me when I was a child; it comes from the Laudate Gentes word 'vir', which means 'man'. Yours means 'gods'."
"Thank you for that answer. Now, why would you be a man's power, but I the gods' power?"
"Because you're a damned bastard awaiting Hel's grasp."
"... Hm. ... Do you believe in the gods?"
"They're damned as well."
"Hel is a servant of the gods. Why would you say Hel's grasp is coming for me, if you damn the gods?"
"To speak to the fool, you must speak familiarly to him."
Dei chuckled. "Hah, now you've insulted all of Scentral. Seven nations. Do you know why it is seven?"
"Would you stop questioning me?! I know nothing! I will tell you nothing! You fucking bas—" Boosh! The Northeastman kicked Vi in the head. The force of the kick sent Vi crashing into the wall, his vision blurring from this new injury to muster with the old ones.
"Well, the inquiring can stop for now." Dei and the slave exited the prison cell. The father glanced at his son once more before the two left. He will tell me, he thought, he will eventually tell me.
There was silence for the longest time. Vi wondered why there was so much questioning. It should be him questioning the other, specifically as to the death of his mother. Or at least his mother's name. He only ever called her 'Mother'. And where was his friend, Deron? He was taken to torturing, and never came back. And there were no screams heard... had they killed him mercifully? A cruel fate, but a kind way to come about it.
Now sits the refugee alone, Vi thought, only two of my men remain calm, the others are insane or dead. I only hope that the Rutsk Fort highwaymen can aid us in our time of need. And what of the other countries? The Nigon Republic on the peninsula? The Mrvde in the southern desert? The Southern tribes? The North riflemen? The oriental Southeast? The Sto Isles shipmen? They were all enemies of Scentral once. It was only a matter of time that the East becomes influenced by the Mvrde, or defeated. The Central country would eventually be invaded by the opposing forces. The Southeast and North are on stalemate with Scentral, but they are angered by the corrupt Magon. The South is subject to the slaving that Scentral commits, but the liberating forces from the Sto Isles sometimes come to the rescue; the Sto could win in naval battles. The Mvrde are mostly defensive, so Nigon can't exactly go to them for help. The Nigon Republic is perfectly isolated, and may not even have current news of Scentral events; another null aid. The West is being occupied by Northeast slaves, so they can't do anything what with the giants around.
If only the Freirs could save the day. The last Freir to rule over their now-gone kingdom was Queen Avdaviel II, and it is said she resides somewhere in a county near the new West capital. If only her children, or their descendants, could come again and reunite the confused lands opposing the Scentral countries, then all hope would be regained! If only...
But the Freirs had fled, and may never come back. They can't send anyone into the Central country because of the hundreds of Northeastmen here, and they can't do anything in their own homeland because of the Scentral powers and Northeast slaves there, too.
Damn the Northeastmen! No sympathy, only savagery. They are the very being of barbarian; oh no, Vi, you fool, but one should remember that they're slaves, and are not as magically powerful as Scentral Magon. What was I thinking? Here I am, another man seeking to down the Magon, when not even realizing that they are of human life? Well, at least some of them. The Northeastmen are trapped into a corner with no way out. They have no choice. But can they not risk themselves for others? What do they think of Nigon? Well, I’m not sure... I may never find out, only that they’re slaves to Scentral.
And though Western Magon are most powerful, they are few due to the Freirs' ruling of allowing Nigon-Magon marriage and births. Only rarely can a Magon be birthed from such an arrangement, although with breeding like in the Northeast, it is more likely, and the Freirs had natural Nigon bloodlines, so they could have plenty Magon in their dynasty. Thus, the Northeast is weak, and cannot fight against Scentral. And thus, the Freirs are gone, and cannot fight against Scentral.
If only the Freirs would return, even in a lesser state, so as to give hope to Nigon across the lands and allow the lost souls to be found. Slavery is at an all-high due to Scentral oppression, and it needs to be stopped! ... But it can't be stopped, not with the Mrvde being selfish, the Nigon Republic being isolated, and the North being stoic. Perhaps the Southeast and North just need a shove into the Central country, or directed to the East? The Mrvde wouldn't dare battle against riflemen with their main cavalry forces. A rifle is a firearm and a spear, a true masterpiece.
All of this thinking had made Vi mentally exhausted. Now both his body and mind are done for the day, so he would rest.
Truly, he thought, we need the Freirs to come back in hopeful return for all of our lost souls.986Please respect copyright.PENANAuz3AzUEZnF
