THE FAINT SOUND of beeping and the overwhelmingly strong smell of chemicals, she had no clue where she was but as she opened her eyes the bright white light enveloped her vision momentarily blinding her. "You're awake!" a man's voice shouted with excitement lacing his tone, her green eyes widened as she jumped away from the tall man "Who are you?" she questioned pulling the blanket further up her body as though it could possibly protect her. "Y-You don't..." the man's voice faded as he ran a hand down his face in exasperation obviously having a hard time coping with her lack of memories, "Ann, it's me... Louis!" his voice raised as his hands found their way to her shoulders shaking her lightly hoping that would knock the memories back into her, "D-Don't touch me!" she gasped looking around the room hoping at least one doctor or nurse would help her but the room was empty besides the bed she was in and the monitor besides her. "Where am I?" the man's eyebrows furrowed as he pulled out a small pamphlet from his back pocket "Sparrow Hospital... you work here... don't you remember?" she shook her head still leaning away from the man, "I-I want to go home!" she shouted finally jumping out of the bed and backing herself into the corner of the room while making sure to stand in what she assumed to be a fighting stance.
"Wait wait wait!" the man named Louis called out as he shuffled around in a small bag which had been on the floor beside him, "Here! Look, that's us!" he pulled out a small polaroid and slid it across the ground towards her and sure enough there was a photo of the pair, her bright auburn hair frozen as it blew around it the wind and his bright blue eyes shining with laughter as the pair smiled at the camera. "No!" she denied picking up the polaroid and shaking her head, "That's not me... it can't be!" her pale shaking hands wrapped themselves around the photo as she tried desperately to tear it in half, "There's more..." the man whispered pulling out a small stack of them which were held together by a rubber band. "Just... please look at them" once again he slid them across the floor and she picked them up curiously.
There was one of what seemed to be a wedding but not theirs because in the background she could see a woman with the same auburn hair like her in the white wedding dress, "Who is this?" she asked not taking her eyes off the small polaroid "Your sister..." Louis stated very slowly, "Elisabeth," he finished his tone getting softer by the minute. "The man next to her, that's her husband Sebastian... we got so drunk that night that they had to kick us out, Elisabeth was furious... remember?" his voice was strained and tears were pooling in his dull blue eyes and Ann found herself wanting more than anything to tell him that she remembered him and all of what appeared to be fond memories together but she didn't. "I-I want to talk to her!" she stuttered out thrusting the photo in the man's direction and pointing at who she figured was Elisabeth, "Now." she demanded, "They're outside, I'll be right back..."
Louis poked his head out from the door and began whispering, Ann couldn't hear what he was saying but she knew that it couldn't be good by the way his brows furrowed and he glared at the person. "A-Ann..." cried out a red-headed woman as she stepped into the small hospital room, "I wasn't sure you'd wake!" her arms wrapped around Ann tightly "She doesn't know who you are..." Louis whispered to Elisabeth and immediately her hands fell from her sister's waist back to her side as her grey eyes widened with shock, "What? If this is some type of joke again Louis-" Louis rolled his eyes and clicked his tongue "Why would I joke about this Elisabeth?" the woman shook her head slowly stepping away from Ann as though she had just found out she had an extremely contagious disease. "I am so sorry!" Elisabeth mumbled tears falling down her cheeks as she fled from the room.

SIX WEEKS, it had been six weeks since Ann had last seen Elisabeth and six weeks since she woke up without any memories... Louis had tried desperately to return the memories to her with his stacks of polaroids and records which they had apparently danced to on multiple occasions. It was obvious that he had once meant something incredibly special to the twenty-two-year-old but as she sat on the lounge chair watching him rush around the house trying to find anything that could trigger her memory she couldn't help the small smile that formed on her lips or the way her heart fluttered slightly as their eyes locked.
"What is it?" he asked seeing the dreamy smile on her face, "Oh... nothing," she mumbled but the smile still remained on her lips. "Are you sure?" he asked walking towards her and taking her small hand in his large one, "You seem... different..." he tilted his head slightly. "I-It's just... I think I understand why we were together now..." a blush coated his cheeks and ears and his eyes dropped to the floor "You're blushing!" laughed Ann as she took his face in her hands, "It's okay you know..." she smiled placing a soft kiss on his cheek.
"Perhaps we can make new memories together instead..." she suggested and for the first time in those six weeks that Ann had been with Louis a smile formed on his lips and he nodded his head with excitement clearly written on his features. "That sounds great!"
