GABRIELA'S P.O.V
I tried to open my eyes but couldn't. I was starting to panic. What was wrong? I tried to speak but I couldn't. I felt trapped. I could hear words flowing but couldn't make out the sound. I passed out in exhaustion.
When I woke up, I tried opening my eyes again. This time I could but my vision was blurred and the light was hurting.
I heard someone scream for a doctor. The headache was terrible. I finally closed my eyes because I couldn't take the light. I was relieved I wasn't visually impaired.
The next thing I knew was someone was checking my pulse, opening my eyes and doing all those doctor work on me.
He was saying, "she will be fine. needs rest for a while."
Well, I was tired but at the same time, I needed to stretch my muscles.
"Thank God she will be fine now," my mom said.
I knew her voice so well. It was like a whistle that always left me peaceful. And that was what I was feeling that time.
I turned my head towards the sound of her voice. She was looking hurt as she watched me, squeezing my dad's shirt, I guessed was to control her pain.
The sight was emotionally overwhelming. My dad was holding her to give her support.
"Angel, you are awake!" He said as he noticed me looking at him.
I couldn't help but give a weak smile. They both came and held my hand.
"Don't talk. I am very sorry about everything. Dad is going to put things right," my dad said reassuringly.
I nodded and let sleep take me.
I don't know how long I had been in the hospital but I was finally released today. I felt nice about that, but fear clogged my heart as I thought about boarding school.
My dad carried me to the car, claiming I couldn't walk yet. It amused me, though. I don't know since I woke up in the hospital bed I had started getting closer to my parents. Doing little things for me wasn't much of a big deal to them.
"Here you go." My dad dumped me at the back seat.
He ran off to the driver's area, while my mom smiled at me through the passenger's seat.
We were incommunicado until we got to the house. I stared at the light brown mansion that was my home. I don't really think anyone knew my home as I did. It was surely a good thing to be at home. I was jolted back to reality as my dad opened the car door and carried me in his arms.
My mom ran ahead and opened the entrance door. "It's so good to be home, right?"
"Yes."
We sat down on the couch. "Are you taking me back to boarding school?" I asked in fear.
My dad sighed and took my hand into his. "No, I am not. You are back to a day pupil and we have resolved to change your school," he said firmly.
I was over the moon. "But why the sudden change of heart?" I queried curiously.
He smiled at me. "The house is so empty without you in it. I want you close. Moreover, your mom will have my neck if I don't bring you here." He threw a meaningful glance at my mother.
She nodded enthusiastically and added, "on a platter." My dad faked hurt. "Did you hear that?"
I couldn't help but smile. "Thanks, Dad, but I need to be alone." I bit my lips.
"I understand."
I walked towards my room.

I watched her leave. I knew she was been more receptive because she didn't want to go back to the 501Please respect copyright.PENANAQTU1KN1csT
hostel. It tore my heart into two to see her in such despair.
I turned to my beautiful wife whose tears shone in her dark eyes.
"Baby, she needs us. I think it's best to take her to a Catholic school so that she can know what Christianity is all about," I suggested.
I watched her eyes go heavenward as she turned the idea over in her mind.
"That's a good idea, but no boarding school," she said sternly.
I laughed heartily. "No boarding school," I laughed 501Please respect copyright.PENANADczk511uXZ
harder.
She threw a pillow at me. "Shut up. I need to bake a cake for her. You know how much she loves it," she beamed.
"I do. Make it huge, for I also love cake." I clapped my hands like a kid.
"You aren't getting anyone, big baby." She sashayed off.
"Hey... I am going to steal it then." I ran after her. She laughed as she ran off.

I tried to sleep but couldn't; so, I got stuck in a book. It was soothing to my nerves. I hoped my acting would change their minds regarding withdrawing me from boarding school.
I dumped the book on the bed in exasperation. “I don't need to worry too much, for dad has already given me his word concerning this issue.” I comforted myself with that.
I went to the window and watched the trees swivel left and right. It was breathtaking. I loved inanimate objects more than I loved humans. I don't know what to think about that.
Was I really weird like everybody says? I truly hoped not. Lost I was in the scenery that I didn't know when my parents entered my room.
"Booh!" My mom screamed.
I jumped and my parents laughed at me. My dad was carrying something which he hid behind him.
"You scared me. What's that you are holding?" I asked inquisitively.
They both had silly grins on their faces. "Guess!" My mom said.
“I don't like all this. They should just tell me and get it over with,” I muttered to myself. I needed to think 501Please respect copyright.PENANAanyeCaqF0J
about things.
"Mom, Dad, say what you have to say. I am pretty busy." I swept my arm towards my book that lay on the bed.
"Oh," they said together.
"You will have to close your eyes then," my dad said to me softly.
I did that in a rush because their presence was starting to irk me.
"Open!" They both commanded.
I opened my eyes to see the most beautiful cake placed on my shelf. A genuine smile indeed crossed my features.
