“I don’t want to separate them again, they have been apart for too long already it will tear them apart more than what they already are.” The commissioner spoke, he and Bruce Wayne were talking at Jim’s desk whilst I and Dick were just a few desks down talking about life well, mostly Robbie.
“I agree completely Jim; I wouldn’t think about keeping them apart, you should know that I think that family is important. I just don’t know what to do, how do we deal with this? What can we do?” Bruce reflected on his past as worry flashed over his face, you could tell that this was something that he cared for.
“I don’t know Bruce, what can we do indeed? I don’t want to separate them again, or even put them in a house with complete strangers they would never trust us, I don’t want them to have to deal with being in a family where they couldn’t be children, they have been through enough already and they are so young.”
“Well I don’t know if it would help because of any legal reasons or anything but if there is anything that I can do to help just tell me, Dick will always have a place at my home... our home, and I would always be happy to take in Harley as well...”
“Harleen”
“Ex... excuse me?” Bruce stuttered.
“It’s Harleen, sorry to intrude but my name is Harleen not Harley, I don‘t like it when people call me Harley and I would like it if you called me by what my father called me... if you don’t mind” I butted in shyly, I never did like causing a fuss but when it comes to my name its either Harleen or nothing.
“Oh yes sorry, Harleen.” Bruce mumbled making sure he didn’t say Harley.
“It’s okay but I was wondering Commissioner if you could tell me where the bathroom is, also Robbie keeps complaining that he is hungry but he is too much of a baby to ask if there is anything that he can have, as every time I tell him to go ask he just says ‘you’re the oldest you go ask” and I’m just like ‘by eight minuets’ I mean come on I don’t see why he couldn’t just ask you.” I said giggling a little they started to laugh as well a little.
“The bathroom is down the corridor first door on the right...” Gordon said whilst pointing to a hall across the room “... And I will bring over some snacks over for you in a minute but who is Robbie, I thought your brother’s name is Dick?” Jim asked with a questioning look.
Laughing I replied “Robbie is Dick, I have just called him Robbie since we were little I don’t know why but he went through this faze when he was younger where you could only call him Richard and that was wayyyyy to long for me to keep calling him so I called him Robbie... it helps that he hates it as well just makes me want to call him it more.”
I said this whilst looking over at him, he was doing what he usually does, swinging backward and forwards on his chair as he types away on his laptop a well dresses man named Alfred brought for him apparently he was Mr Wayne’s butler or something like that, I don’t know but he sure did seem really polite.
“Are you serious Bruce about taking in Harleen as well? Because we would have to go through some checks first and see if it is okay with both Harleen and Dick, we wouldn’t like to put them into a situation in which they don’t seem comfortable in. But if they do agree with it and I’m sure that all the checks will all be clear are you definitely sure that you wouldn’t mind being their legal guardian, I know you have been with Dick for over a year now but girls are different, and as she gets older we don’t want you regretting your decision about this.” Jim stated taking all precautions to the matter.
“Are you trying to but me of Jim?” Mr Wayne laughed “... I know it will be difficult but with me and don’t forget about Alfred I’m sure we will be fine, I think it will be nice to have someone for Dick to be around which is his age other than at school... especially saying she’s his sister, although I don’t know if I will be thinking that’s a good idea when they have any arguments, if they have any, which I’m sure they will.” Bruce and Jim both laughed and continued on their discussion about what they were going to do about me after they got some food for Robbie... he never has thanked me for doing that... I think I’m going to have to talk to him about that.
Any way we all stayed at the police office the rest of that day as it was about six when we finally got all of my police statements and what not sorted. I did end up staying with Bruce, and what can I tell you... it was a disaster.
