twenty-five.
Eryn.
I slid my lips over Lucinda's, picking her up and sliding her legs over my hips. We walked past the two vampire guards she had at her door. Her legs crossed around my waist tightly and I pressed her body against my chest, effortlessly taking to her penthouse.
Sagan tugged on Luce's hair, pulling out the pins and letting it fall around her face.
I tangled my hand into her hair, tugging on it softly. "Are you sure they're not going to listen in?" I whispered, running my tongue up the length of her neck.
Luce smirked. "That never stopped you before."
I chuckled darkly, "with the things I'm going to do to you, I think it'd be best if they didn't."
"The door, Luce," Sagan interrupted. She raised her head and glanced at me, giving an expression that made me lift my brow.
"Key card," Luce moaned as I planted kisses along her neck and jaw, "it's in its usual spot."
Sagan reached into Luce's breasts without hesitation, pulling out a black silky card. She grinned as Luce gave her a lustful gaze. Luce grabbed Sagan's jaw and brought her lips to hers.
Sagan laughed softly as Luce kissed her again. "Wait until we're inside," she winked, approaching the door and sliding the card against the reader. She threw the door open and whistled softly, "Nice digs, Luce."
I looked around for a brief moment, taking in the penthouse. There was a small lobby we walked into and three rooms squared-off, the left one leading straight into the master bedroom.
I headed there immediately, taking in the four-poster bed that had thick black curtains surrounding it.
I threw Luce onto the bed, grinning softly. She lifted her arms and tugged me down by my earlobes. I felt a shudder of pleasure run down my back followed by instant revulsion.
Luce was sorely mistaken if she was trying to get lucky.
"You both know what I want," Luce deftly undid my shirt buttons one by one, as she planted kisses along my collarbone.
My gut rolled as I remember what I was here for. I couldn't get swept in Lucinda's seduction. I needed to get to the point. "Of course."
I turned to Sagan and tipped my head at her. She stalked forward and held out her hand. "Give me your tie, let's have some real fun."
I glanced down and nodded, tugging it off. I passed it to her and Sagan took Luce's wrists and tied it to the bed.
I rolled my eyes, grabbing onto the curtain and shredding the fabric quickly, using them to tie Luce to the bed at her ankles and other wrist.
I moved faster than her eyes could track and Luce leaned forward; her face dumbfounded. Distrust crossed her eyes for a brief moment, but I gave her a goofy grin as if this was just us getting frisky.
"I'm sure those ancient duds down there wouldn't even notice you were gone," I leaned forward and nuzzled my back into her neck, breathing deeply. A faint smell of something sweet and bitter wafted toward me.
The scent reminded me of funeral flowers.
I straddled her and grabbed the neckline of her sequined dress, ripping it down her front, not caring that she would have to change. She wouldn't be making it to the party later, so it didn't matter.
"Naughty girl," Luce muttered, her eyelids low.
I ogled her milky breasts and took a light pink nipple in my mouth, flicking my tongue over it. I suckled it hard, causing her to arch her back involuntarily.
Sagan climbed onto the bed and leaned down, catching Luce's red lips with hers. Her tongue danced with Luce's and I watched as I lightly ran my teeth over her other breasts.
"I see you both missed me," Luce whispered against Sagan's lips.
I roughly grabbed her throat, pressing her back onto the bed. She gasped and her eyes widened, fear and excitement coursing through her for a moment. I leaned down, hissing softly in her ear, "I guess you could say it was a meeting long overdue."
She turned her neck, baring her throat.
Sagan moved down, running her hand over Luce's stomach and then pelvis. She dipped her hand under her dress and into her underwear.
Luce ignited and sucked in a sharp breath.
My fangs lengthened, responding to her sounds of pleasure. My teeth grazed her jugular. I punctured her soft skin as if I was biting into a soft plum. Her blood poured into my mouth and I almost doubled over with how potent it was. I could taste large traces of mermaid blood coursing through her blackened veins.
I bit down harder causing her to groan in pain. "Eryn! What do you think you're doing?"
Sagan took this opportunity lunged forward, placing a ball gag into her mouth. My eyes widened as she fastened it quickly around her head, silencing her.
"Really?" I asked, Sagan, turning my head toward her.
She shrugged, "it was the only thing I could find. It was kinda just lying on the floor."
I lifted my brow.
I retracted my fangs and stared into Luce's enraged eyes.
"Where the hell is the mer-blood coming from?" I demanded, ignoring how my body ached to sink my teeth back into her neck.
Luce's eyes narrowed, her gaging on the plastic ball. Drool dripped from around her lips and she grunted at me.
I moved my mouth over her neck again and licked the blood the poured out of the deep bite. It was already healing and I bit down harder, letting it gush into my mouth.
"She'll drain you," Sagan replied from behind me, "I think it would be best if you answered her questions."
I spat out the blood, doing my best not to swallow anymore. I pulled away from the daunting taste. I leaned over her shoulder, keeping my voice even and ignoring the wave of airiness coming over me as the mermaid blood threatened to take over my senses.
"We want in," I whispered in her ear, tugging on her lobe with my teeth.

Marina.
The elevator doors opened and two guards stared at me, their eyes narrowing.
My eyes widened I took a step out into the hall.
"We have someone here." A guard muttered, looking towards the door.
The guard shook his head. "She's not paying attention; you know they get." He approached me and I turned around, stumbling to the elevator.
His eyes widened. "She's of them!"
"Did they escape?" The other questioned.
The vampire closest to me grabbed my arms and I threw my weight forward. I was about to scream, but the guy clamped his hand around my mouth, muffling it tightly.
I felt a prick on my shoulder and I screamed, shutting my eyes as I could feel my skin tearing and opening up. Waves of pain flowed through me, causing my eyes to flutter shut.
When I reopened them, I was restrained in a bedroom with the lights turned off. I looked around and went to get up, but I toppled to the ground instead. I looked down and gasped. I was a mess of limbs and fins.
Fins!?
I watched my pink scales glitter slightly and I cursed. How the Hell was I in merform?
The two guards from earlier were stood at the end of the bed.
They were locked in an argument and hadn't seemed to notice I'd fallen off the bed.
I listened to what they were saying, doing my best to undo the zip tie around my wrists.
"She called for one!"
"What do we do? Should we bring her this live one?" The black-haired one replied.
"I'm sure Ms. Price would love that," The other one snapped, turning his head looking at the bed. He glanced around and made eye contact with me as he bent down and yanked me up by the zip tie. He threw me over his back.
I furiously moved in his grasp, but he held me down tightly, using the length of his arm to keep my fin from moving.
He had muscles on muscles and his shoulder dug into my stomach. I winced every time he took a step.
The black-haired one grazed his fingers along my fin. "Whoa, Tommy feel that!"
"I'm kinda busy right now, she's stronger than you think," the one carrying me snarled, "open the door, you idiot!"
The other one complied and they both stepped out into the hall. I raised my head and watched as they brought me into an emergency staircase wing. I watched carefully, doing my best to remember it.
They emerged into the hallway to the penthouse.
I sighed, hating where this was going. The doors whirled open and I caught sight of Eryn instantly. She couldn't see me from the position she was in, she was too busy in-between Sagan's legs. Her head bobbed in and out, not paying mind to the guards that walked in.
I tore my eyes away, tears pricking the corners of them. I pushed them down, getting rid of the feelings of ugliness that cascaded over me. I shouldn't have been surprised; she was a vampire living for centuries. Why would she only want me?
Sagan was far more experienced and I was foolish to think that I could satisfy her in the way she needed. They probably had so much history together. How could I compete?
I angrily admonished myself, focusing on how I was going to get out of here.
Lucinda climbed off the bed and approached the guards, a delighted gaze on her face. She was naked, crescent moon shaped marks all over her body that healed slowly. She grazed her fingernails along my fin as if I was some prize found.
"Ladies, feast your eyes upon this!"
The guard placed me onto a nearby couch and Lucinda was quickly upon me, her fingernails dangerously close to my neck.
The black-hair guard grabbed my wrists, snapping the zip tie off.
I sat up and slapped his hand away, avoiding his touch. Lucinda lunged forward and held me down. "I'm not greedy, you can taste her first, Trystan."
He chuckled. "I'm flattered." He leaned down and sank his fangs softly into my wrists.
I cried out, trying to yank my arm from his grip. My eyes darted to Eryn.
She lifted her head, blood dripping down her chin. Her crimson eyes lazily looked over me. Shock registered through her and she stiffened, detaching herself from Sagan.
"NO!" Eryn bellowed, lunging forward, but she wasn't fast enough.
Lucinda impaled my throat like a dart.
I shut my eyes as a scream ripped through me. My body tingled and a wave of something that was all too familiar washed over me.
I was in my merform...
My scream carried, shifting and becoming so high-pitched that it broke the windows. Lucinda and the guard named Trystan dropped to their knees and covered their ears.
Eryn and Sagan fell as well, covering their ears.
I heaved a breath in and the sound coming from my throat cut out quickly. I yanked myself up, trying to shift into my terrestrial form.
Eryn stood up, hurriedly zipping up her slacks. She made quick work of redoing her shirt buttons messily. The swell of her breasts was exposed and I watched her intently as she stumbled forward hissing at Trystan trying to get up.
She lunged at him, her hand going straight through his chest, breaking his chest plate and ribs.
He cried out and gripped Eryn's wrist tightly. "Please no!"
Eryn yanked out his heart with no qualms. She looked positively deadly as she dropped it unceremoniously to the floor. Her eyes held a wild glint to them as she lifted her head and looked at the black-haired guard.
"Your turn," Eryn chuckled darkly, speeding forward and outstretching her hand. Her nails lengthened considerably and she slashed him in the neck. His throat opened up and blood gushed down his chest and soaked his shirt. The guard sputtered and fell to the ground clutching his neck. She stomped on his neck with the heel of her foot in quick succession, the crunching sound echoing in my ear.
I looked away, squeezing my eyes shut as blood splattered on me. My heart slammed against my ribcage. I didn't know whether I should thank her or run away in terror.
Eryn was now standing over Lucinda, her chest and face covered in blood. "Luce." She stated, a chilling air in her tone.
Lucinda stumbled to her feet and darted out of the room faster than my eyes could track. Eryn hissed and stalked forward.
Sagan stood in front of Eryn. "I'll go after her, you help her." Swiftly, she spun and disappeared after Lucinda.
I sucked in a breath and held it for longer than I should've. I was still bleeding, enough that the leather couch was pooling with my blood. It dripped onto the floor already, staining the carpet.
Eryn approached me quietly, picking me up wordlessly. She approached the window and kicked it with her foot, sending glass flying outward. She launched us into the air, jumping high into the brisk night.
We were airborne, and for a second I thought we were flying. The impact of us landing abruptly onto a lower rooftop, sending red stars along the edges of my vision.
I screamed the second time we jumped, and the pain was more than I could handle. The bites from those vampires infected my eyes, sending my whole body to get rigid and tingly.
My eyes drifted close as the night swallowed me.
