CHAPTER 10
Jimmy turned his back on the freshly filled grave and headed towards the house. Jimmy refrained form calling Darya's "cabin" an actual cabin and instead simply referred to it as a house because it actually wasn't made of much wood at all, but instead made of a hard titanium reinforced plaster and cobblestone walls to add variety here and there.
Jimmy climbed up the three stairs that led up to a low level deck that was framed with panels of crystal clear glass that were framed themselves in between shiny cylindrical poles. The deck itself was made of the same snow-white plaster the modern house itself was made of. The deck was blanketed with snow as it continually descended form the soft blue sky.
Jimmy stalked up to the door of dark oak with diagonal strips of glazed glass and gripped the cold golden doorknob, pressing down with his thumb on the lever of the doorknob as he pushed open the extremely light door ever so nonchalantly.
The back door had it's now closed off foyer that was adjacent to a hallway that led to one of the house's state of the art kitchen and before there was two other hallways, one on the left and another on the right.
Jimmy removed his Adidas sneakers that were matte black with golden highlights and the golden Adidas sign was branded on the middle of the shoe on either side of each shot. Jimmy always removed his shoes before entering any household beyond it's foyer. He did this because it was polite, it's what his mama had raised him telling him, and because Japanese tradition demanded it.
In his ankle hugging black socks, Jimmy stepped beyond the white tiled foyer and onto the hardwood floor of the main floor. The hardwood laminate floor was the same chocolaty dark oak color the exterior doors were, veins of even darker wood ran through he floor like rivers running through a canyon.
Jimmy stepped into the hallway leading to the kitchen and ran his fingers along the smooth white wall, calling for the rest of the group. No response, but he could hear someone rustling through the fridge, clinking together jars and pushing away plastic cartons of milk. It was probably Darya preparing dinner and had her ear buds in so she couldn't hear Jimmy. Though, he wondered where could the rest of the group be?
The floors perfectly contrasted with the white walls that sported cinematic framed photos of scenic portraits and pictures of mountains, trees, and woodland animals. The rest of the group must've been upstairs settling into their temporary quarters for the night, Jimmy figured he would help poor Darya with setting up dinner since no one else was.
As Jimmy reached the end of the hall he saw the golden light of the kitchen flood lights, he reached the end of the hallway and hopped out enthusiastically, banging his feet on the floor loudly, "It's Jimmy!" yelled Jimmy.
A pair of eyes looked up from the fridge, they weren't Darya's or anyone else's; the figure's eyes were a dark and murky crimson red, they were also glazed over and the color was smeared to encompass the entirety of the eyes, leaving no white or other color at all. The figure was large and round; it was a literal bouncy ball held together with a canvas of inky black skin. It was dressed in a white undershirt, blue basketball shorts, and a gold chain that added a thuggish flair to the zombie.
It looked Jimmy in the eyes for a brief moment before it bolted towards Jimmy with superhuman speed before Jimmy could draw is revolver, only barely managing to grip the handle of the gun. The blob snarled, revealing two rows of perfectly white teeth that seemed to be normal human teeth except for the canines that were extremely elongated, curved inwards, and were razor sharp; the canines were like elephant tusks that were honed to spear.
It snarled again, like a big cat, its upper lip arched upwards, brandishing the combination of saber like canines and the murky red eyes that held semblance to a glob of red hot molten lava. Before Jimmy could react, the creature sluggishly swung it's arm and used it's open hand like a wrecking ball, colliding it against Jimmy's shoulder and knocking him against the wall so hard it cracked. With haste, Jimmy rebounded with adrenaline circulating through his system, he pushed back the balloon of flesh and kicked it in the stomach like he was kicking down a door with as much as he could humanely muster, sending the nebulous brute stumbling backwards to the very end of the hallway. Despite it's initially astonishing speed, it's recovery was sloth like and when it did get up it staggered towards Jimmy with the speed of a centuries old tortoise.
Jimmy took the opportune moment to draw his revolver and shot the massive mammoth in the head, dropping it dead on it's back. Jimmy marched over triumphantly while taking pride in his amazing marksmanship to the fallen behemoth; a fountain of black blood continually spurted upwards.
He put his foot on the chest of the creature, the fountain of blood squirted higher and blood began to ooze out of every crevice and pore from his body.
"Geez!" said Jimmy in shock of the horror show beneath his foot, as blood came out of it's body; the fallen leviathan began to deflate like air escaping a balloon.
He revoked his pressure on the creature's chest as the thunderous noise of footsteps clamoring down the steps that lead to the hall to the right form the foyer.
Great, thought Jimmy, more freaking zombies, just what I need. He readied his aim towards the beginning of the hallway and at the immediate sight of a shadowed humanoid figure he pulled the trigger. The hammer hit with a click, but he was out of bullets. The human figure threw it's hands up into the air.
"Dude. Seriously?" Jimmy eased his stance and was grateful he was out of bullets as he heard matt's annoyed voice as he came forth, brushing past Jimmy; surely, because of his gluttonous nature, one could assume he was on his way to the fridge. The rest of the group, including Darya, followed Matt.
"Guys. Uh. Watch your step." cautioned Jimmy, grasping his shoulder that had began to ache. But then he heard a wet and sloppy sounding splat. Jimmy turned around, predicting that matt had stepped on the now normal sized corpse. And lo and behold, he did.
The tissue of the zombie was so thin that Matt had completely caved in it's stomach. matt raised his foot form the stomach, his shoe was covered in coal colored blood.
"What? Jimmy what the diamond fire trucking duck is this? Matt said questioningly and disgustingly. He was gross out, but that didn't stop him from making up his own quirky little phrase in the heat of the moment.
"I told you to watch your step, didn't I?" said Jimmy who was now annoyed at matt's idiocy and absent-mindedness.
"Whatever," scoffed Matt, he licked his lips and suckered. "Ok. Who's gonna help me prepare a bit to eat?"
