The night sky had an overcast of clouds making it seem much darker than normal. The parking lot lights flickered illuminating the darkness sporadically for a few moments at a time. A man was crossing the parking lot with a cigarette hanging from his mouth. He had his hands in his pockets while his short curly hair bounced with every step. He approached a gated entrance, that was leading into a science research facility. As he drew near to the security out post two guards raised from their seats at the small out post building and stepped towards the man. One called out, “Hey mister, do you have proper identification to enter on these premises? If not, you can come back tomorrow when the visitor center is open and register for a daily pass.” The curly haired man kept approaching them and pulled his hands out of his pockets and let them hang and down by his side. “Sir!” the guard called out. “If you don’t stop, we’ll have no choice but to subdue you.284Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡvq0oOVDCzO
The man smirked and replied, “Like you could.” Within his next step he seemed to discharge a blue electric light from his body. The guards quickly pulled out their pistols strapped to their belts. By the time they raised them at the man approaching them, their weapons quickly crumpled like an aluminum can in a spark of light. Almost as if he teleported, the curly haired man appeared right in between to two guards and each of his hands were piercing through their body armor and chests. He quickly pulled his hands out of their bodies and flung all the blood to the ground with a quick swipe. He raised one of his hands and the whole guard hut crushed in on itself destroying everything inside of it. The guard hut continued to crush in on itself until it was a perfectly small marble like sphere. It instantly shot off the ground and stuck to his hand as he walked away. He quietly put it in his pocket as he approached the main lobby of the research building. He walked up to the front doors and a small burst of electricity shocked the doors and they opened. A woman was sitting at a desk writing something in a notebook. She looked up and saw the man. Curiously, she asked, “Sir, do you have any identification I could see before you go any further—” As she was talking, her pen suddenly flew out of her hand and shot into her neck. As the man kept walking, blood shot all over her notebook as she fell out of her seat and gurgled on her own blood. The pen came out of her neck and repeatedly stabbed her a few times until she was dead.
The curly haired man walked up to an elevator and pushed a button on the wall. The door opened and he stepped in. He pushed a button that would take him to one of the sub level floors. He waited as the elevator descended into the sub levels. The elevator music happily played in the background and the man sighed. Electricity engulfed the speaker and it suddenly exploded leaving the elevator quiet. As the elevator dinged, the doors opened, and a group of soldiers were on the other side with guns already drawn. “Stop right there or we will use lethal force!” Lightning erupted from out in front of the curly haired man and pierced all the chests of the soldiers leaving a small smoldering hole in the center of all their chests as they fell to the ground in unison. He casually walked past them all with his hands in his pockets as he walked past their corpses. He walked up to a large blast door with engravings that said: Research Laboratory Three. After touching the door, the two halves of it flew into the wall after an electric spark destroyed themselves. A few scientists were inside and looked over at him in horror as electricity fell out from in front of him again and shocked them all until the skin and muscles melted off their bones and only skeletons remained. The bones collapsed on the floor while the man approached a large machine connected to a computer. He pulled a USB drive out from one of his jacket pockets and with his other hand, he touched the computer. Electricity shot out of his hand into the computer and then back into him and the flash drive glowed with a blue electric light and then faded. While making a fist with his free hand he smashed in the machine next to it and as it fell to pieces what looked like a naked hairless body fell out from it. The body collapsed on the floor and he smashed it’s head in with his foot. As he crushed its head, mechanical parts and circuit boards flew out from underneath its skin revealing it was a machine that only looked human. More lightning shot out from his body and started destroying every computer in the room. He turned to walk out of the lab, and a man in a lab coat was standing in the destroyed doorway holding an odd-looking weapon like device.
The scientist cried out, “Brennen, what in the lords name have you done!?” The curly haired-man turned around smiling. The scientist raised his weapon and pointed it at Brennen. “I know this won’t kill you but it sure as hell will fuck you up.” The marble in Brennan’s pocket suddenly flew out of his pocket, cutting a hole in his jacket, and shot through the scientist weapon and then passed through his body continuously until he fell to his knees in a pool of his own blood. As the man threw up large amounts of blood, Brennen began to speak.
“You have fallen behind with your progress. You were given many chances and an ample amount of data to start. It’s been one failure after another so like a bank, I’m seizing all assets and terminating the deal. There will be no remnants of this facility or anyone who’s worked in it. That was all part of the contract you entered into. If you would have read the fine print maybe you would have had a better understanding of the consequences. You had three opportunities to turn this around which were more than enough and failed every time. You brought this upon your self and all your subordinates.”
Before the marble could finish of the man, he cried out, “You god damn devil!” The marble went in and out of his head multiple times and on the last penetration the marble spun around in his skull until his head exploded. Brennen slowly exited the room and with his foot shoved the headless corpse off its knees and onto the ground. More soldiers were in the hallway and began to open fire as he exited the room. With a quickness their guns glowed with blue light and suddenly they turned their guns on each other and shot each other to death. A door at the end of the room opened and a man in a small, mechanized suit came walking down the hallway shooting a barrage of different types of weapons at him. They all were deflected and redirected to hit his dead comrades on the ground destroying their bodies. In a blue and purple hue of electric light, the mech suit started to crumble in on itself crushing it’s pilot on the inside. The mech was slowly crushed into the smallest sphere like marble it could and then shot through the floor and went crashing through every floor underneath it. Brennen could hear explosions as it traveled downward. He jumped down the hole it was creating and when he reached the bottom floor where the mech marble had stopped, he used his electric ability to magnetize the metal around him to slow his fall. When he reached the bottom floor, he stood in front of a small particle accelerator that was humming quietly. He touched it with one finger and surged a bunch of electricity into it and an alarm started to ring through the entire complex. As the workers and staff were trying to escape, he used his ability from where he was standing and tripped the emergency shutters that smashed down blocking every entrance and exit of the building off. People pounded on the doors panicking as a voice came over the building’s speaker system.
“Brennen please! These workers don’t have to die for our mistakes!” At least let them out!” A sphere of blue and purple electricity surrounded him as the particle accelerator began to explode. The explosion blasted through every floor vaporizing everything in its path. Within seconds the building was gone and only a giant crater remained with a glowing blue sphere sitting in it. Brennen stepped out of the light as it disappeared and lit up a cigarette. As he took a drag and was climbing out of the crater, a man suddenly fell out of the sky landing at the top of it. He was dressed in a black business suit wearing sunglasses even though it was night.
“You there!” He called out. “What happened here?”
Brennen slowly climbed out of the crater and replied. “They fucked up so I took care of business.”
The man dressed in black clenched his fist and shouted, “You admitted with no hesitation to being a criminal?” He then stuck both of his hands out and a whirlwind of fire erupted from his hands and shot at Brennen. Brennen moved with great speed and appeared right behind the man. The man gasped in shock at his speed and tried to kick him from behind, but Brennan caught his leg and snapped his femur within an instant. Brennan kicked the man and he flew a few feet in front of them on the ground. Before the man could cry out in pain, Brennen came leaping down on his other leg snapping the bones in it. The man was wearing an expensive watch and it started to glow blue as it began to fly towards Brennen’s hand. It pulled the man’s hand with it and decapitated it. The man screamed out in pain as the watch and his hand came tumbling down besides his head. The man’s necklace which was made of metal, began to glow blue and started to sink down into his skin and started to choke him. As his eyes began to bulge out of his head, his sunglasses fell to the ground in front of him as his vision started to fade. Brennan started to speak and said, “This is what happens when you try to break the law and be a vigilante. There are reasons why there are laws in place forbidding most Espers from being heroes. It’s because they jump into someone else’s business and get themselves killed by people like me. The necklace pierced through his skin and began to decapitate his head.
