This one is my favorite because of two reasons. One, I feel her “I knew” goes to show not only the faith she has in Sasuke staying true to his principles but also the fact that she is right on the money shreds of evidence that her assessments concerning him are pretty spot on. In other words: she does know him.
The second reason is what elicits this reaction from Karin in the first place. She isn’t marveling over something Sasuke has done; rather, she reacts this way over Sasuke reasserting his agency, his independence, and his authority all in one go. Those are traits related to his personality rather than his looks or his feats.
I personally feel that this instance (just like most instances where Karin has been shown having this sort of reaction over Sasuke) goes to show that Karin admires the fact that Sasuke does not take anybody’s shit and that he is the one to call the shots in his own life; that she thinks Sasuke is “cool” not because he is a genius, but because of the fact that he’s a strong soul who yields to no one. Just like she herself happened to grow up to be.
