Zeniqua looks up at the dark ceiling unable to sleep after her talk with Trell, she sits up and looks out the window. The stars are shining bright tonight. She ponders what would have happened if her father had found her tonight. Would he have shot her on the spot? Or would he have just taken her back home and locked her away for the rest of her days? She could only ponder this since she got away.
As for the thing with Contrelle, him willing to uproot his life to go on the run with her. She found him a bit crazy….alright insane for ever bringing that up.
I guess he doesn’t want me to go at this alone. And figures that I would be better off with some one to look after me. In a way it is sweet, but very crazy. She sits on the window seat and stares at the sky. I just met him a few days ago. Then as I am making a break for it from my father, he is there. I shake my head from side to side. I guess I wouldn’t mind, but the only way he could come is if Gracine can come too.
She sighs and gets back in the bed. Snuggling down, she continues to think. But, if she comes then I don’t need Contrelle. I guess I will figure out what I will do in the morning. Right now….I just want to sleep. 405Please respect copyright.PENANAFOL8RacjqP

Waking up to the smell of pancakes and bacon surely beats waking up to the smell of dead bodies and gunpowder. Zeniqua opens her eyes and squints against the sun peeking through the blinds. She stretches and sits up in bed. She turns her head to a knock on the door.
“Come in.”
In comes Contrelle with a breakfast tray and orange juice. “Good morning.”
This is too fucking good to be true. “Good morning.”
“I thought I would bring you some food so you won’t have to endure the investigation of my family.” He sets the tray in her lap.
She smiles. “I wouldn’t mind it. I know they are leery about some girl spending the night here.”
“Well, yeah. But, if I am not threatened then, it’s okay with them.”
“Right.” She begins to eat the bacon.
He sits on the edge of the bed and looks around in the room. “Have you made your choice?”
She nods, “I have.”
“Alright.”
She drinks a little of the orange juice and her throat slightly burns as the pulp slides down her throat. Ack. She sighs, “I have to leave.”
“I am coming with you.”
“No, I don’t want you to do that. This is my thing not yours.”
“I rather come with you to ensure that you are safe and sound.” He raises his eyebrows.
He looks as if he isn’t going to take no for an answer. “You have to talk to your mother about that. I have to talk to your mother about that.” She gets up and grabs her pants. She puts them on. “I can’t stay here long so...if you are coming. You do need to pack a few things.”
He nods and stands up. “Then it’s settled.”
They exit the room and go downstairs.
“Mom, I am going with Zeni.” He announces out the blue.
Zeniqua’s eyes widen in shock, “Way to be subtle about it.”
“You’re leaving your family to help her.” His mother nods to Zeniqua.
“She needs me. She is in a very dangerous situation.”
“I am not sure if that’s a good idea, Contrelle.”
Zeniqua steps forward and places a hand on Contrelle’s shoulder. He goes back upstairs. Zeniqua and his mother sits at the table.
“What kind of danger are you in that my son wants to protect you?” She tilts her head to the side.
“Well, I am on the run from my father. I can’t really go into detail as to why because then that would put you in possible danger. But, lets just say I don’t want to run the family business. He doesn’t like that nor does my brother, since he was supposed to be next. But, my father chose me over him. Anyway,” She shakes her head. “I ran away and he found me last night. I don’t know how or who told him. But, if I don’t keep going he will possibly catch me. I don’t know what he may do to me once I am back, but I know it’s nothing good.”
She nods. “And my son says he wants to protect you from him. We spoke a little about it last night. I think it’s a noble thing that he wants to do. But, this sounds like very dangerous thing.”
“It really is.”
They sit there in silence for two minutes. “He is my son. He is my oldest. If he wants to do this, he will. All I can really do is support him and hope for the best.” She stands up.
“I understand that. I really do. I told him that he doesn’t have to go with me. I told him he shouldn’t but…”
“He is a stubborn one. Like his father is. There is nothing I can do with neither one of them when it comes to something they have their minds set on. I just want him to be safe and sound.”
Zeniqua stands up. “I can try my best to look after him.”
She laughs, “You are a sweetie. I do wish you the best of luck.”
“Thank you.”
