Chapter Fifteen
Elizabeth glided towards the hallway.
She was focused on Lady Charlotte's marriage.
She hadn't met her in person.
Her husband, Lord Daniel, was known to her. She was disappointed that he was taken. Anger coursed through the body. 'My Lady, is there anything bothering you?', Roberta Clement, the servant-girl, asked her.
'I will marry someone else, Roberta. Lord Daniel is married', Daniel answered.
'My Lady, Lord Abernathy is here'.
She nodded in surprise.
'Tell him he can go to the Drawing Room, Roberta'.
'Yes, my Lady'.
And she waved him inside the spacious room, and closed the mahogany colored door behind her.
'My Lady, it has been a long time', Lord Abernathy bowed.
'I didn't expect you to be here, my Lord'.
'The marriage between Lord Daniel, and Lady Charlotte, has been a surprise to me. She is young, and not had children'.
'And I haven't, either'.
'I was imagining that a Lord would come here to see you, my Lady'.
'No; no. Such things are problematic'.
'How so?'.
'I don't have Lords coming to my chambers, my Lord. Mother and Father won't like that', Elizabeth said.
'We're all vampires, my Lady. Others are wicked; others are not evil. There is a war going on in America. Humans are being killed in battle. Our kind aren't responsible for the deaths'.
'No. Of course not'.
'Please, take a seat, my Lord. The Royal Court is meeting at 11:00 AM'.
'That's in an hours' time, my Lady. Let's talk'.
And they drank fresh blood from a goblet.
