The portraits were still shouting at Albus as they had been since he first strolled to his desk from his private rooms.
Dippet: “Albus! They kicked him out, they left him trying to sleep on the floor.”
Derwent: “Those Gryffindors are a disgrace! What is it with them? Can’t they see that this is a plot to get Harry?”
Dumbledore: “Now, now, I’m sure that this has all been a simple misunderstanding. I shall get a report from Minerva after she a spoken to the Gryffindors after breakfast and all this will be cleared up. I can see that Mister Filch has let Harry use a guest suite for the night, so he is not that badly off.”
Everard: “Albus! They have isolated him; expulsion means any Gryffindor trying to even say a word to Harry will be punished. You have to take action.”
An official ministry owl entered the office and dropped a pile of parchments on the desk.
This made Albus very annoyed. All official correspondence was diverted to his Deputy. She would then sort through the petty trivia and inform him of anything important.
“What is this! I can’t be interrupted all the time by paperwork.” Albus tore open the covering parchment.

We have received an amazing stream of edicts from Mount Olympus this morning, all involving students at Hogwarts.
I hope you can explain what on earth is going on.
There hasn’t been an edict from the Gods of Olympus for 400 years and now we have eight all in one minute.
They are all about Mr Harry Potter and other students at Hogwarts.
Please explain.

The wizard Harry James Potter (no house, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry) is hereby declared to be the Head of the House of Potter.
The witch Hermione Jean Granger (Gryffindor House, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry) is hereby made a vassal of the House of Potter, hereafter referred to the vassalage.
The vassalage is full and complete.
The witch Hermione Jean Granger (Gryffindor House, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry) is commanded to support the wizard Harry James Potter (no house, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry) in all his missions and endeavours. His triumphs will be her triumphs, his defeats will be her defeats.
The vassalage will be dissolved upon the death of the wizard Harry James Potter (no house, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry) by the command of Zeus (God of Olympus).

Dumbledore read the first edict five times. He was too stunned to take it in. He then leafed through the other edicts. They were all the same except for the names of the vassals. Dumbledore finally stirred into action and made a list of the names.
- Hermione Granger (Gryffindor)
- Ginevra Weasley (Gryffindor)
- Susan Bones (Hufflepuff)
- Hannah Abbott (Hufflepuff)
- Luna Lovegood (Ravenclaw)
- Su Li (Ravenclaw)
- Daphne Greengrass (Slytherin)
- Tracey Davis (Slytherin)
There were some frighteningly powerful family names on that list, Abbott, Li, Greengrass.
The others could make life difficult but those three could have him killed.
Then there was the Bones clan. Amelia Bones was the head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and was Susan’s aunt and guardian. Dumbledore could hear her now, “How would you like to spend the rest of your miserable life in Azkaban, Dumbledore?”
Tracey Davis’ parents were both Unspeakables. Dumbledore shuddered at the thought of what they could do to him. Death would be the easy way out.
Dumbledore sent a patronus to each head of house demanding their immediate presence in his office.
