That was when it happened. Time seemed to freeze, the temperature fell to about zero degrees and all the sounds seemed to fade away. I felt like I would never be happy anymore. Though everything around me seemed to freeze, I could move. I stood up from my fallen position and tried to take in what had happened to me. Looking ahead of me, I could see a large jeep that appeared as though it was arriving at top speed. The expressions of the people around me were frozen. Most of them had their lips parted open and their hands to their mouth in shock.
Then I heard footsteps. Footsteps that sounded solemn and dead. Then there followed a sound of something being dragged on the ground. Fear gripped my senses for the first time and a little voice screamed “RUN!” But as much as my brain registered that, my body couldn’t carry out the order. Immediately, I felt a cold breath against the back of my neck that sent shivers down my spine. Against my will, I turned to see who was behind me. The very second, I was staring into the eyes of the myth itself. What I thought didn’t exist had become a reality.
As my eyes looked into the eyes of the creature that stood in front of me, I felt overwhelmed with grief that tears flowed uncontrollably out of my eyes. Its eyes were red like hot coals taken out of a forging fire. It held in its hands, an hourglass that had almost run out of time. The cold wind blew around us and its raged black hooded robe went with it. The scent of smoke and dust was sent into my nostrils. Then it throws back its head in laughter and in the process, uncovers its skeleton face. I found the courage to finally speak. Instead, my lips opened and I felt my soul being sucked out of my body.
The Grim-reaper lifted its scythe and with a bone-toothed smile and slammed it into my chest. To my greatest surprise, I didn’t feel any pain. Instead, I felt a great burden on my chest. Then I heard screams. Deafening screams that sounded like they came from the depth of hell. I felt my face melting from the heat from its eyes.
Then there came his reply in a raspy voice. “Your time is up.” Then he added; I have finally caught up with you.” The screams intensified, the temperature fell below zero, and then darkness engulfed me.
