I cut off the car's engine when I parked my car.
I looked at the interior rear-view mirror and at my appearance.
I drew the cap of my black hoodie behind me. I shuffled my short brown hair slightly, returning the lines of my hair back to their place.
I smiled.
I look just good.
I gave a look at my Cartier watch with a brown framework. The watch was working in a delicate way, visiting time second by second swiftly, yet, gently.
I was born in an average family, but I would do anything to buy a fine watch, even more for a classical one. It reminded me of my father. He was a watchmaker. He used to make refined watches that even poor families could afford.
"Time is an essential element in defining our actions, and eventually, ourselves. Everyone needs it." He used to say.
He told me, back at the hospital when I was 16.
"This is the first watch I have ever had." He showed me the watch around his wrist. "It's a Cartier first generation."
The square framework was coloured in white gold, with a dark blue strap connecting the case to conclude the artwork. Underneath the case, carved the letter 'N', the initial letter of my father's name, 'Nathan'.
"One day, you will have it. One day."
It wasn't until he died a year later, did I remember this promise. But I never found the watch again. I never felt the same ever again.
I smiled softly at the memory of my father.
Then, I grabbed my schoolbag and pushed the car door open to get out of the vehicle.
The moment I stepped out of it, someone called my name.
"Nick!"
I turned around and was met with Todd in Math.
"Hey!" He greeted from far away.
"Hey!" I flicked my head at him, in acknowledgment of him.
"See you at Math!"
"Yep!" I waved my arm, while turning around and walking towards to the school entrance.
I hung my schoolbag on the right side of my shoulder, straightening my body.
"Hey, Nick." A guy said when he saw me.
"Hey."
"Hi, Nick." A few girls waved when they walked pass me.
"Hey." I smiled.
More and more people greeted me when they realised my presence.
And I greeted back.
"Nick!"
I turned to my right.
Harlan walked towards me with a grin on his face.
"Hey, buddy." My best friend and I held each other's hand and gave each other a bump.
"Hey." I chuckled.
"So," Harlan hooked his arm around my shoulders, even though he could barely do it given our equal heights. But, well, he liked to show the girls how close he was to Nick Morrison.
"How's the girl at the rink?" He smirked at me.
"Hey, Nick. Hey, Harlan." A girl greeted us as she crossed path with us.
We smiled before continuing our conversation.
"She's okay." I replied.
Harlan shook his head and let out a dramatic sigh.
"Nick Morrison, I seriously don't understand your standard for girls. I mean, she's like the hottest girl in that area."
"Yeah, in that area."
"Come on, Nick. Even though I bring you the hottest girl in the entire town, you will still say no to her."
I chuckled.
"You're so right."
As we spoke, Sarah approached us. A group of girls behind her.
"Hey, Nick." She smiled sweetly at me.
"Hey, Harlan." She said to Harlan, with less enthusiasm.
"Hey." Harlan grinned.
"Hi." I made out a smile.
"So," Sarah started. "The girls and I are wondering if you and Harlan want to come to the party at my house tonight."
I looked at Harlan. He looked back at me.
A wide smile broke out on his face.
"We will come." Harlan said, looking at Sarah.
When I didn't reply, he turned back to me and emphasised his tone.
"Right?"
A small smile playing on my lips.
I turned to Sarah. "Yeah, we will come."
A beam was on Sarah's face.
"Great! Looking forward to that!"
With that, she walked away with her friends.
Harlan laughed.
"She's so into you."
I chuckled softly. "Probably."
"Trust me, my friend. She's into you."

With the bell ringing, we moved our feet into Physics class.
As we walked towards our tables, Harlan spotted something on my table.
"A purple note." He tore the note from my table and waved it at me with an amused look, just like every other time.
The class started making a fuss and made out 'woo' sounds.
I crossed my arms against my chest, a small smile on my lips. Well...it might have been a bit shy.
"It writes," Harlan started announcing.
The Physics of Love
Mass is not proportional to volume.
A girl as small as a violet. A boy who moves like a flower petal is pulling me toward him with more force than his mass.
Just then, like Newton's apple, I rolled toward him without stopping until I fell on him, with a thump. With a thump.
My heart keeps bouncing between the sky and the ground.
It was my first love.
- Kim In Yook -
V
The class chuckled and made more 'woo' sounds.
"She's in love with you." A guy shouted.
"First love." A girl emphasised with a smirk.
But I was more concerned with the signature.
V.
I supposed V stood for violet.
Just like other poems. They were always about violet.
Does she like violet?
Harlan chuckled and gave me a smirk. "V is in trouble."
I rolled my eyes and took the purple note from him.
It was then, the Physics teacher walked in.
"Good morning, students."
The class snapped their attention to her.
Without anyone noticing, I slipped the purple note into my calendar book.
