"Adam, you have to have another secret."
"No, I don't."
La la la la
"Just one more. Please?"
"No, Jordyn."
La la la la la la
"You know what?" I whispered to Jordyn. "I do have one more secret. It's a long story."
"Oh, please. I've been asking for this for ten minutes!"
"Alright." I took a deep breath.
"Four years ago, I walked into work, and there was someone new sitting in my seat. A young girl. Her hair was half blue, half purple. When I asked her why she was in my seat, she replied, 'Well, aren't you sweet? I'm just here to ask you where the language department is, Darlin'. So I pointed her to the LD. Well, the next day, she came up and asked me to meet her in the park after I got off work. There, she told me her name. Tammy Nisha Tarrano. After that, we dated off and on for a couple months.
"Y'know that big mansion, the one everyone says is haunted? One day, we decided to break into it. I had a crowbar, a girl, and a death wish. So, up we went to the mansion at midnight."
"Adam, this sounds so cliche."
"Yeah, I know it does. But it was her idea.
"I levered the massive wooden doors open, just wide enough so we could get inside. She giggled and said, 'Oh, Darlin', I've never been in a place like this before!' I said I hadn't either and began to walk through the dusty halls. At some point, I looked over and she wasn't there. Then she started singing.
"La la la la
La la la la la la."
I shuddered. I felt like I could hear her even now.
"It was so creepy. It came from every direction. Everywhere I turned, it followed. I had no idea where Tammy was, and I had no idea where the door was, either. Everything was cold and dark and all I could hear was her incessant singing.
"La la la la
La la la la la la."
"So I ran through the house. Finally, I made it out. I ran all the way home. I have no idea what happened to Tammy. Like I said, this was four years ago."
"Wow, Adam. That sounds horrifyingly creepy."
"Yeah," I whispered. "It was kind of awful."
La la la la
La la la la la la
"Oh, dear God, help me." That terrifying song wasn't real. It couldn't be real.
"Oh, hello, Adam. I never thought I'd see you again."
I clutched Jordyn's hand. Tammy grabbed the front of my shirt.
"How I've missed you, Darlin'." The cold metal of a gun barrel pressed against my temple. "I think I'll keep you this time."
And everything went black.
