My name is Wolfgang Reinhart, I'm a vampire who's been on the run since I was young. I live with my father and my ancestor, because the rest of my family was massacred by the vampire hunters. We moved to this new area about 6 years ago, because there was a university I got in to. I have since graduated, but I still live with those two. They look exactly alike and they get in fights with each other when they're seen together, so they have different schedules. I just can't figure out which one is which.
Today was my first day working as a bartender at Spoiled Rich's Bar. I went through training for about a week before this to get the drinks perfected, but I already knew them by heart since I was a child, because my two family members enjoy drinks.
When I went in the back of the bar to put my stuff away, there was this guy who had to be about 190 cm. He was really muscular and he had wavy black hair. He had to be the bouncer that Avery, my best friend from college, was talking about. He turned around and looked me over, before smiling at me. His eyes were shining like emeralds.
"You must be the new bartender, Avery was talking about," he said, "Just call me Leo. I'm the bouncer."
"My name is Wolfgang Reinert," I said, "Please call me Wolf."431Please respect copyright.PENANA1U3EOefzQS
"I hope your first day ends on a good note," Leo said as he left. I had just noticed that Avery was there. Avery is almost the same height as me, she's 162 cm and I'm 160 cm. Her hair was auburn and in a bun most of the time. She had maple brown eyes.
"Hello there, Avery," I said.
"I knew you would like him," Avery said, "He's a total hunk, but I'm surprised that he was acting so friendly with you. He usually just keeps to himself. Maybe it's because you're a guy!" She started ruffling my platinum blond hair, which was irritating, because then it wouldn't look like I had the ears of a wolf. I wanted everyone to think that I was a werewolf instead of a vampire.
"Stop, Avery!" I shouted, "My ears! My ears!" Avery laughed and stopped messing with my hair.
"We both know you're not a werewolf, Wolf," Avery said, "Stop pretending."
"I'll stop pretending if you get Leo to kiss me," I said.
"I can't make promises like that," Avery said, "But who knows, maybe he'll like you too. Come on, it's almost time to start our shift." I sighed and followed Avery into the bar area. "I'll cover the left side and you cover the right." I nodded as we set up for the night.431Please respect copyright.PENANA5qvwtEnfEE
Soon patrons were coming in. A few of them saw me and came straight to me. I knew that they were going to be trouble, but I put on my best customer service smile.
"Hello, you must be the puppy-in-training," the first one said, he had a buzz cut, so I'm going to nickname him Buzz.
"Would you gent's like something to drink?" I asked.
"What did you just say?" the second one asked, he had half of his hair shaved, so his nickname is half.
"Would you sirs like something to drink?" I corrected myself.
"I'd like a few shots of whiskey," half said, "For me and my buddy."
"Alright," I said, as I went and got two shots of whiskey.
"I said a few, not two," half shouted.
"Alright," I said, "How many?"
"Four," Buzz said as he held up three fingers. Wait, were these guys already drunk?431Please respect copyright.PENANAufeiASSwJ6
"I'm sorry," I said, "I can only give you two."431Please respect copyright.PENANAsILyZCpPpI
"Why aren't you being a good little puppy and giving us four?" half asked.
"I'm not allowed to," I said.
"Fetch stupid puppy!" Buzz shouted as he threw something over the bar at me. I looked around to see if anything broke, but the only thing I could find was a broken watch. I picked it up and put it on the bar.
"Here's your watch," I said as I passed it to him.
"I don't want it, it's broken," Buzz said, "Get me a new one." All of a sudden Leo and another bounce showed up.431Please respect copyright.PENANAHZG7w96szI
"You boys are coming with me," Leo said as the other bouncer and him grabbed the men. Leo winked at me and then they were gone. I looked over at Avery, who gave me a thumbs up and a smile.
"I want some cranberry juice," a patron said from Avery's side of the bar. Avery quickly walked over to me.
"What's the matter, Avery?" I asked.
"I do not want to serve the cranberry juice guy," Avery said, "He has really bad taste." I was a little confused, but went over to Avery's side of the bar and got a glass of cranberry juice all ready for him. When I saw what his face looked like, I was a bit confused. He had short brown hair and a short beard. He was wearing a dangling jade earing in one ear and had glasses so thick I couldn't see his eyes. He was obviously a man, but he was wearing what looked to be a dress.
"Did Avery send you?" cranberry juice guy asked.
"She was busy with other customers," I said.
"Oh..." he said, "Allow me to explain myself. My name is Blake Jackson. I'm a matchmaker, but I've been in love with Avery for a while and she hadn't taken an interest in my business until last week. As a matchmaker, I'm not allowed to make myself a match. So I tested the waters to see who would make a good match, but I accidentally set her up with one of my exes. I can tell that she didn't like him, which is why she's avoiding me." This man had to be drunk, because that sounded just like one of my father's drunken rambles, but he was drinking cranberry juice. I was very confused.
"Why can't you just make yourself a match?" I asked. Mr. Jackson sighed.
"It would make me seem cheap," Mr. Jackson said, "Like why would you pay for a matchmaker to be with the same matchmaker? It's like paying someone to be your partner. It's selfish. And also, I'm only interested in looking and not touching girls."
"So you like boys?" I asked. Mr. Jackson rubbed the back of his head.
"How'd you guess?" Mr. Jackson said.
"You used he/him pronouns for your ex," I said, "Besides, I do too. How long have you known Avery? I met her in Freshman year of college."
"Oh," Mr. Jackson said, "I met her in second grade. She probably doesn't recognize me anymore, I've changed so much."
