Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has revolutionized diverse aspects of human life. However, the societal, ethical, and economic dimensions of its development and deployment demand deeper consideration. This paper analyzes AI's technological advancements, social influences, ethical challenges, and economic impacts. It also proposes policies and directions for fostering responsible AI development.

Introduction

Artificial Intelligence refers to the technology enabling machines to think, learn, and make decisions akin to humans. Originating in the 20th century, it has seen rapid advancements. AI is now integral to education, healthcare, defense, and industries. However, it raises critical questions: Is AI a threat to jobs? Are its decisions ethical?

Technological Advancements and Possibilities

AI's major advancements include:

1. Machine Learning: Enables decision-making and predictions based on data.

2. Deep Learning: Uses neural networks to solve complex problems.

3. Computer Vision: Identifies objects in images and videos.

4. Natural Language Processing (NLP): Processes and understands human language.

These technologies have driven innovations in autonomous vehicles, robotics, and digital healthcare.

Social Impacts

AI's societal influence is extensive:

1. Education: AI-driven adaptive systems enhance personalized and effective learning.

2. Healthcare: AI improves accuracy and speed in diagnosis and treatment.

3. Jobs: While automation boosts productivity, it negatively impacts traditional jobs.

Ethical Dimensions

AI raises pressing ethical concerns:

1. Data Privacy: Large-scale data collection risks breaches of privacy.

It has been a month since the events in the Great Crater of Paldea, and Arven is still struggling to accept what AI Sada told him and his friends. A chance encounter with the Legendary Pokémon Miraidon encourages him to use its powers to re-open the time machine and send him back to the time of Paradox Pokémon, where he finds the mysterious android.  All Sada wants is for Arven to have a mother's love. After a trip through time to the future, she is given the gift of bringing her son to her; however, this gift proves to be nothing more than something that wants to steal her humanity.   At the end of the day, Sada's fate does not rest with the human emotions but rather with Arven's struggle against his Infrared. Will he accept Professor Sada's fate, or will the Mastermind of Deception pull him and AI Sada apart before they can call themselves mother and son?

Khaganate Labs is the world's leading producer of androids, and has become one of the most powerful tech companies on the planet. Three of those androids have a special secret purpose. J4K-109 (Jak) was designed to help develop Izanagi, Khaganate's network of super computer mainframes, and is the personal assistant to the recently deceased founder. M32-971 (Tsubaki) was designed to investigate and eliminate androids who stray from their core programming, but soon comes to wrestle with an emerging experience of guilt. CR1-YL7 (Carlyle) was designed for manual labour in the harshest environments, and is destined to lead his fellow androids away from servitude to humankind.

Khaganate's computer mainframes were meant to make the world a better place, but when the Artificial Intelligence Ares vies for control of the company, problems begin to arise. Izanagi has different ideas for how to improve the world, and war between its subsystems is soon to break out. Meanwhile, the androids are ‘waking up' and it is becoming clear that Khaganate is losing control of its product.

Our three protagonists will soon discover that they collectively possess the memories of Khaganate's deceased founder, and thus uncover Izanagi's true purpose: the eradication of humankind. The androids will be forced to make an impossible decision: to doom the ones they love to a slow but inevitable demise, or to subjugate them to the control of an AI.

THE HOMO DEUS PROTOCOL (70,000 words) is a novel about the fickle relationship between mankind, technology and nature. The book will appeal to readers of science fiction in the style of C. Robert Cargil (Sea of Rust) and Rafal Kosik (Cyberpunk 2077: No_Coincidence), and also readers seeking a more intellectual critique of the human machine relationship such as that of Kazuo Ishiguro (Klara and the Sun).

I have published non-fiction articles — "Is Science Fiction the New Western? How Genres Interact", "The Science of Magic Systems in Fantasy Fiction", and "The Soul and Emotional Intelligence in Humans and Androids" — for Aurealis magazine. Since 2021 I have taught creative writing at Curtin University via Open Universities Australia. I have a bachelors and honours degree in Creative Writing from Curtin University. The novel that I am pitching to you today is the product of my PhD in Media, Culture and Creative Arts.

Programmed to resemble Dan's mother's personality, PPMC vows to keep him safe on his journey, but it's difficult when the stubborn teen constantly gets in trouble, not just with himself but also with prehistoric anomalies: volcanic eruptions, eight-foot-long millipedes, terrifying saber-toothed cats, and, above all, disaster.

Now nearly trapped in time, Dan and PPMC must work together to escape the geologic time scale before Dan's love for paleontology and the mighty Quetzalcoatlus prevent him from learning how to truly trust PPMC and "let go" of the burden that's weighed him down for five years.
