Ash's POV
My whole life changed one day on the way home from school. I'm Ash Rob Eric Samuels and I'm 15 years old. What you're about to read may seem fictional to you but it really happened two years ago. Trust me.
I was walking home because the school bus left without me - typical. I stopped at a telephone box and put in some change to call my mom to tell her that I'd be late again.
Just when I hung up, I heard a high pitched voice me say, "You really shouldn't be calling people."
I turned around to face the speaker and said, "Why not?"
"Because it attracts monsters," the dark haired lady said. she had dark brown hair and yellow eyes - strange.
"There are no such thing as monsters, weirdo." I rolled my eyes and started walking away.
"I wouldn't be so sure about that."
I turned around to face her again, "Really? Why's that?" I crossed my arms and stared at her.
"Because of this." The lady started growing wings. Dark orange and yellow feathers popping up here and there. Her fingers started growing claws. I stared at her in horror.
Just then, a boy from my school came running towards me with a scared expression. Except he looked a bit different. He had goat legs and tiny horns on his head, mostly covered by his curly dirty blonde hair (that made him look like a Hobbit).
"Ash, we gotta go. Now!" He half screamed.
"No need to tell me twice, mate." We ran but Ms. Birdy just flew towards us at, like, lightning speed.
Anyways, long story short, me and Sam, the goat boy, beat the crap out of the harpy (he told me that she was something called a harpy) and ran to the middle of nowhere.
"We're almost there," he told me as he dragged me into a forest.
"Almost where? All I see are trees."
"Here." He pulled me past a gigantic pine tree.
"Whoa." I said in amazement. Past this hill was a huge blue farmhouse. There was also a rock climbing wall that looked like it spewed lava. Past that was a lake. On the other side of the lake was a bunch of cabins - they all looked really weird and odd. The whole place was awesome.
"This is Camp Half-Blood."
-----
Sam had filled me in on everything there is to know about being a demigod. Apparently my mom is mortal and my dad is a god.
It's already evening and I'm sitting at the Hermes table just eating my food when some of the people around me dropped their silverware and stared with wide eyes at the top off my head.
"What?" I asked. "Do I have something on my head?"
A boy named Connor Stoll answered, "Not exactly on your head..."
I looked up to see two glowing red spears crisscrossing behind a boar's head. My jaw dropped to the ground. The Stoll had filled me in on what each sign for the gods were. Apparently, the one above me is Ares' symbol. I have no idea how. I'm not all that violent. I mean, if someone makes me really mad then I'll put a few big bruises on them, but overall, I'm actually pretty nice.
When Chiron the centaur noticed the glowing symbol, he stood up and yelled, "Ashley Robin Erica Samuels, daughter of Ares!" Almost everyone cheered.
I cleared my throat and said, "It's actually Ash Rob Eric Samuels." A few people raised their eyebrows at me. "Don't judge me. My names too girly. Yeesh." I got up from the Hermes table and walked over to the Ares table.
"Uh, hey." I said to my half-siblings. I grinned and shook some of their hands.
One of them said, "I don't get why Chiron didn't bring you to our cabin in the first place."
"What do you mean?" I replied to him.
"Your name. A for Ash, R for Rob, E for Eric, and S for Samuels." I thought for a moment. My name is an acronym. Huh. I never noticed that. It spelled Ares. The guy continued on, "'Anyways, welcome, sister. I'm Josh." I smiled at him and sat down.
I think I'm gonna like it here.
