Feng Jiu wake up at dawn and when she opened her eyes she saw Dijun sound asleep beside her. She smiled and stared at his peaceful handsome sleeping face. She held and twirled in her fingers a part of his silky white mane then said in a whisper,
"You're too handsome for your own good."
Feng Jiu caressed his face and decided to prepare breakfast. Since there is only two of them in Bihai Canglin, she took it to herself to cook. She remembered the day Dijun brought her in Bihai Canglin and Dijun cooked for her. She's happy when she saw a sweet and sour fish he cooked for her but her happiness and expectation plummeted when she tasted his horrendous cooking ability. She realized that atlast, there is something Dijun can't do and it is cooking.
"Dijun, is there something wrong with your taste buds?" she asked.
Dijun looked at her with innocence in his face then he replied,
"No. My taste buds are fine. Why? "
Feng Jiu put down her chopsticks and she seriously eyed Dijun and said,
"I'm sorry to tell you but your cooking is bad. How about starting tomorrow, I'll cook for us?" she suggested.
Feng Jiu saw Dijun nodded back at her happily. He seems not offended with her and so, her cooking for him and them started on that day. Feng Jiu is fully clothed when she decided to sleep in Dijun's room. Dijun's scent calmed her senses, she realized that and so she sat at the bed and held Dijun's purple robe around her shoulders. She felt cold and so she decided to put on the thick blanket on Dijun and decided to move but before she could take a step off the bed, she felt a hand that pulled her back to the bed and when she looked, she saw the sleepy face of Dijun and she saw him frowning. In his sleep voice he asked,
"It's still early Xiaobai. Where are you going?"
She released a sigh of relief and she sat then look at Dijun and replied,
"I'm going to make us some breakfast."
Then she heared Dijun groaned and she's surprised when he snaked his arm on her waist and he pulled her down beside him. His face snuggled on the side of her neck and Feng Jiu can feel his breath fanning on her neck. It brought a shiver on her body and she blinked her eyes to dispel the familiar sensation that is resurfacing. She tried moving away but Dijun only tightened his hold on her waist and he whispered,
"It's still too early Xiaobai. Let's take a break today okay? I know you're still tired. Let's go back to sleep."
Feng Jiu only smiled. This childlike man really can make wonders to my heart. She solemnly thought and then she said,
"Okay your majesty. I'll follow whatever you'll say. Let's go back to sleep then."
Feng Jiu didn't heared a reply from Dijun as she caressed his head down to his shoudler blades. She heared a silent snore from him and she smiled. Never in her whole existence she imagined hearing Dong Hua Dijun snore and she found it adorable. The more she spent her days with him, the more she's going to that place she thought she'll never experience again.
Feng Jiu wanted to tell Dijun her hesitations and her painful experience but she's afraid that although Dijun likes her today, how about tomorrow and in the near future? The thought only brought dread to her and she silently and mentally castigated herself for bringing this issue up. She can never truly be happy unless she'll tell Dijun whatever that she's hiding. The more she spent time with Dijun, the more those buried memories are starting to resurface and that's what she dreaded the most. It's a blessing already from the almighty that she forgot the faces of the people who hurt her back in the mortal realm but the feelings she experienced are all too real and if she will really dwell on it, she might bleed this time.
"I can feel the change in you Xiaobai. What's wrong?"
Feng Jiu nearly rolled off the bed when she heard Dijun spoke so suddenly. She released a nervous laugh and replied without looking at his Face,
"Oh nothing Dijun... Just some thoughts that needs to be buried."
"If it's nothing then why can I feel your heart beat so fast Xiaobai?"
Feng Jiu sighed. She can't really keep something to herself. She's not a good liar and she's way too obvious. She pulled out of his hug and she's thankful that Dijun just let her go. She decided to sit and then she hugged her knees to her chest.
"What is it Xiaobai?" he asked and Dijun also sat beside her. She can feel his gaze on her but she didn't dare look at him.
They stay seated on the bed for almost a minute. Dijun didn't forced her to say anything more and she's thankful for that. She just couldn't tell him yet. She needs to be at peace with her past first before she's going to share it to him or even to anyone. She sighed and she looked at Dijun and said,
"Don't ask me now Dijun. Don't even ask my family. Let me share it to you once I'm all ready okay?"
Feng Jiu saw Dijun stared at her then he nodded in understanding. Dijun caressed the back of her head and said while looking at her intently,
"I'll not force you if you don't want Xiaobai. I'll wait until you're ready."
Feng Jiu smiled and thank Dijun.
"Let's go back to bed Xiaobai. I'm serious when I said we'll take a break just for today okay? You need much rest."
Dijun lay back down on the bed and Feng Jiu felt Dijun pulled her down beside him and to her delight, Dijun started humming. All her fears and dread slowly dissipated when she felt sleepy. She silently yawned and she felt Dijun's hand pulling her towards him and she didn't squeaked a protest. She just buried her face on his chest while Dijun caressed her hair and sleep took over her senses.
Dijun hummed and look at the queen. He realized that she already fall fast asleep. He was worried when he felt hear dread and fear a while ago and he wondered what is it that she's dreading and fearing when he's together with her. He wanted to ask Zhe Yan but he gave her his word that he'll not force and ask her or her family about it. Dijun can only sigh.
Feng Jiu is not really a stranger to him since he heared a great deal about her from Lian Song for a straight of 1,000 years. He just realized that maybe Lian Song knows something that he's not aware of. He find it strange before that Lian Song always mentions her in their conversation and he always wondered why. But that didn't last long. Lian Song stopped mentioning the queen when he never showed interest. Dijun is planning that he's going to conduct his own investigation about this but for now, he'll just spend his time with her in his arms before the morning will come and before he will start investigating.

Qingqiu
"She is moving Bai Zhi." Zhe Yan said.
Bai Zhi Dijun the emperor of the eight lands stood beside Zhe Yan. They've been tracking the whereabouts of the enemy and eversince Dong Hua informed them that she's back with vengeance they never took a rest to track her.
"Where?" Bai Zhi asked.
"North. " Zhe Yan replied and Bai Zhi nodded.
"Does Zhen-zhen know?" he asked.
"I already told the whole clan that Da Ji is back. " and Bai Zhi sighed.
"What did Fumi say? " Zhe Yan asked.
"She didn't say anything. But she's worried. My wife is sure that Da Ji wants revenge for banishing her from the fox tribe and sentencing her to never set foot in the ninetailed fox lands." Bai Zhi said.
"Do you think the red fox clan is already aware of her?" Zhe Yan asked again.
"We all know that to end the silent conflict between the red fox clan and ninetailed fox clan, I let my second born son, Bai Yi marry the princess of the red fox clan, Yu Yan. I think they do know of Da Ji. There are still elders in the red fox clan that silently supports and believe Da Ji." Bai Zhi replied.
"I heared Xiaojiu's mother is holding a council meeting back in their lands. " Zhe Yan said.
"Do you think that banishment is too much for Da Ji's crimes?" Bai Zhi asked. Zhe Yan eyed his long time friend and held Bai Zhi's shoulder and he replied,
"Da Ji's crime in the mortal realm caused an uproar back here in the immortal realm and brought shame to the eight lands and especially to you her betrothed. She thought that she could get away with anything since she's the future empress of the eight lands but ofcourse, some immortals from the heavens who have undergone their mortal trials came back and informed the once King of the nine heavens Dong Hua Dijun that their mortal trial was cut short because of the King's concubine love for torture and gore and these mortals are one or two or even three of her many victims. Dong Hua went down to the mortal realm himself to check this and found out that your betrothed is the cause of all the cut short mortal trials back in the mortal realm. To add to Da Ji's crime is the fall of Shang Dynasty and brought chaos to that mortal land. We deities and immortals abide rules and laws when we decide to descend to the mortal realm right? Never engage with mortal affairs and Da Ji did more than engage." Zhe Yan said and drank his tea. He remembered how playful, curious and spoiled is Da Ji and at that time, Zhe Yan is still pursuing Fumi, the now empress of the eightlands.
Da Ji and Fumi was both in a competition to the number one beauty in all of the realms position and ofcourse, the competition to Bai Zhi's heart. But Da Ji's playful and sweet nature won over Bai Zhi and Bai Zhi fell for Da Ji, hard. Da Ji is Bai Zhi's first love and because of what Da Ji did back in the mortal realm, Bai Zhi had to make a heartbreaking decision. Da Ji's trial was held at the nine heavens and it was Dong Hua Dijun who captured her himself and brought her back to the immortal realm. Because of Bai Zhi's love for Da Ji, he begged his friend Dong Hua to let him give Da Ji's punishment instead and good thing Dong Hua agreed. As an act of love and letting go of that love, Bai Zhi decided to give the most painful punishment of all in the fox tribe law of laws, banishment, stripping her of her royalty status and lastly, cutting half of the tail of a fox.
The punishment of Da Ji brought a clan war between the Bai Clan and the red fox clan. The red fox clan couldn't accept that their queen is going to be punished heavily but as the emperor, Bai Zhi hardened his heart and his resolve that even if she's the love of his life, their is certainly a price to pay for all her sins, the basic law of Karma which every immortal knows. At the end, the red fox clan couldn't protect their queen. They surrendered Da Ji but the red fox clan promised that they'll forever be in conflict with the Bai Clan. But that conflict didn't last long when Bai Yi, fell inlove with the princess of red fox clan Yu Yan. Because of that love, the red fox clan and the Bai Clan are reunited and in allegiance once again but that allegiance is now threatened because of Da Ji's appearance.
"Don't worry too much Bai Zhi, I am sure that the council of the red fox clan will not let Da Ji influence them. Remember that their own clan member is already seated on one of the biggest lands here in the east. I don't think they'll betray Xiaojiu now. She's too popular and well loved by the red fox clan." Zhe Yan said making Bai Zhi feel better and less stressed. Bai Zhi can only sigh. He looked at Zhe Yan and replied,
"I hope they'll not betray Xiaojiu. I hope not Zhe Yan. "
Bai Zhi can only wish that the red fox clan will still swear and follow the allegiance treaty. Bai Zhi could also feel that this will be Xiaojiu's real test as the queen of Qingqiu.

Feng Jiu woke up when someone shook her shoulder but since she's still so sleepy, she just moaned as a protest and pushed the hand away from her shoulder. Again, she felt being shook awake and this time she's getting annoyed. So with her husky sleepy voice she said,

"If you're not going to wake up, I swear that I'm going to toss you again in that cold icy pool. "
Feng Jiu hurried and sat on the bed and she looked at the immaculately handsome visage of Dijun. She raked her eyes from his head down to his hands and she felt jealous of what she saw. Dijun always looks clean and fresh. It's as if a speck of dust never landed on his person. She silently thought. Feng Jiu rubbed her eyes and then she looked at Dijun again and said,
"I apologize if I woke up late. I haven't cooked our breakfast yet. " she said and her eyes widened when she realized that she haven't cooked their breakfast yet. She looked at Dijun with wide eyes and she scrambled off the bed. When Feng Jiu is near at the door, she heared Dijun said in his calm and cool voice,
"Where are you hurrying to?"
"The kitchen Dijun. I have to make and prepare breakfast." she replied but before she could disappear and ran out of the room, she felt being pulled back and her shoulder and hip collided on Dijun's chest and hip. Feng Jiu looked at Dijun and she blinked her eyes.
"No need to hurry and make breakfast Xiaobai." Dijun said quietly and Feng Jiu felt an electricity ran over her body when Dijun held her right hand and pulled her towards a table near the wall. Dijun offered her to sit and Feng Jiu accepted his offer and gave her thanks. Dijun pulled the white cloth off and Feng Jiu saw a set meal for two and she was embarrassed when her stomach growled loudly and she saw Dijun smiled at her.
"Did you cook this Dijun? " she asked excitedly while she took the chopsticks and started tasting the side dishes.
"Don't be ridiculous Xiaobai. You already know the answer to that yet, you still dared to ask. " he replied and Dijun too started in eating his portion of the meal.
Feng Jiu looked at Dijun then to the food then she asked again,
"Where did you get this then? "
Feng Jiu saw Dijun just continued eating and he didn't look at her but he replied and said,
"Don't ask where Xiaobai. Just eat. The food has been cold since you woke up late. "

It's still too early Xiaobai. Let's take a break today okay? I know you're still tired. Let's go back to sleep. So who's fault is that again? " Feng Jiu replied and did her imitation of Dijun. She saw Dijun raised his brows and cleared his throat and then said,
"Point taken. Now eat Xiaobai. I don't want your family to think that I'm starving you while we're together. "
Feng Jiu's spoon stopped midway and she looked at Dijun. She didn't expect him to say something sweet again. Instead of replying, she smiled at Dijun and just continued eating.
Dijun took a bite of the bun and just chewed. It's not as good as what Xiaobai made. He thought but still chewed and eat his food. Dijun think back of the events that took place when he woke up first. He decided not to disturb the sleeping and tired queen and he decided that he will prepare breakfast but the queen commented about his cooking skills and he doesn't want to make another blunder to himself and hear another negative comment from her so he decided that he will go back to Taichen Goong and ask the kitchen maids to make a breakfast for two.
Dijun wrapped the queen with his purple robe and his blanket. To add more protection, he placed another ward to his room and left to Taichen Goong. When he arrived, the guards gave their respects and he nodded back at them. Dijun went to his room and magic the documents and scrolls that needed to be read and check since he was away for almost 2 weeks now and he decided to bring it back with him to Bihai Canglin. Then Zhong Lin came in and paid his respects and said,
"Welcome back your majesty. Am I going to send word to prepare for your breakfast?"
"Yes Zhong Lin and also, ask the kitchen maids to prepare breakfast that is good for two persons." he said while looking at Zhong Lin and then he saw Zhong Lin's eyes widened in disbelief. He wanted to laugh. Everytime he's asking for something, his people will always thought that he is asking them a strange request.
"Are... Are you that hungry Dijun? " Zhong Lin asked carefully.
"Oh no. My appetite is still the same but...I adopted a pet while I was on my business trip and it needs nourishment so..." he said and he left Zhong Lin hanging with his unfinished statement. Dijun saw that although Zhong Lin is confused, Zhong Lin can only nod his head and follow his request.
When he was left alone in his room, he felt the magic of Zhe Yan and in a flick of his hand, a missive appeared. The Bai family left an exclusive missive that they could use as a means of communication. He was giving them updates about the queen and him. As of now, the Bai family thought that Xiaobai and him already do the deed. Dijun didn't correct their assumptions and instead, he just let them think it that way. Dijun read the letter and then he sat down and wrote down his reply. After he's done, he flick again the letter and it disappeared. He sighed. The Bai's are asking to bring back the queen after three days and Dijun felt...dejected. He stilll doesn't want to part from her and he felt that the days they where together is too short.
But he can't say no. Especially not now when they know that trouble is brewing over the horizon in the name of Bai Zhi's ex-lover Da Ji. He sighed. He can't believe that that woman is still Bai Zhi's bane of existence. Dijun stared at nothing and said,
"Cuddle time is over Xiaobai. Duty is calling you."

Hello ladies. So I introduced Da Ji as Bai Zhi's first love. Yu Yan- since I can't remember the name of FJ's mother, I made my own. 😉
Also, I based the Da Ji character from a real person who was said to be a Huli Jing or a fox spirit who was the cause of the downfall of the Shang Dynasty in ancient China.
