It was a day full of drama and surprises. Dong Hua Dijun is kneeling on the floor with blood on his lips and forehead. After he registered Xiaobai's and his marriage, they went to the Bai estate and inform the Bai Clan that they we're already married. What he didn't expect is the violent reaction of Xiaobai's father, Bai Yi.
When Bai Yi heard that Dong Hua married Xiaojiu without their permission, he just lost it. His only beloved daughter is snatched easily by a man her daughter just met and his mind couldn't grasp any sense as to why his daughter agreed easily. His heart was broken. Young one's nowadays easily forget common sense when they fall inlove and he never thought that his daughter is one of those simpleton kids.
Bai Zhi wanted to strangle Dong Hua, now that he is infront of him but kept his anger at bay. On the side is Xiaojiu, being held by his 2nd son and his daughter. He is not happy and keen on what is happening with the Bai females in his family. His daughter is being coerced by a far relative of Dong Hua and his granddaughter is in a relationship with a man in more or less just a month and looking so serious that the guy proposed and married his granddaughter in just a day. Bai Zhi is feeling hopeless at this point. He doesn't meddle with the love affairs of the females in his family but this is getting out of hand. What Bai Zhi doesn't like more is dragging their name in shame and scandal and that causes the instability of the Bai Conglomerate. Because of what his granddaughter did, it leave him no choice. The decision is breaking his heart but because of what Dong Hua and Feng Jiu did, it caused a major problem in the company. Stocks falling and shareholders are demanding for the head of the Bai Conglomerate to do something.
Bai Zhi's company is very wholesome. They are the epitome of perfection to the public and what happened between Xiaojiu and Dong Hua just broke that perfection. There are too much negativity and it is scary because the public opinion can make or break certain companies. Bai Zhi can't let his employees down because of a scandal. He is now choosing the hardest decision he will ever do in his entire life. He is already old yet, he didn't expected this to happen.
"Xiaojiu, come. "
Bai Zhen and Bai Qian let go of Feng Jiu. The siblings felt afraid. They don't like this reaction of their father that is so calm, quite and stoic and not the usual loud and angry father they knew. Bai Qian held her fourth brother's hand in anxiousness then they heard their father said in a quite and calm voice,
"I love you and you already know that Xiaojiu. But this scandal you and Dong Hua created is already out of my hands. I can't control the situation. I've been too lenient on you Xiaojiu since, you are the only grandchild we have but this time, I can't tolerate this any longer. Your behavior and rash decisions lead you to this situation. I will only ask you and you need to answer. "
The whole family watch quietly not really knowing what the head of the Bai Clan wants then, Bai Zhi spoke again,
"You need to choose Xiaojiu. You will divorce and leave Dong Hua or the whole Bai Clan will forsake you. "
The hall became eerily quite. Feng Jiu's tears started to fall. She couldn't believe that her grandfather is letting her choose. Her heart is breaking and she doesn't know what to do.
Dong Hua just stared wide eyed at Bai Zhi. He couldn't believe what his ears just heard. Bai Zhi is being very cruel to them both but most especially to his wife and he couldn't accept this. Dong Hua turned to his wife and there he saw it. Etched on the beautiful face of his Xiaobai the deep hurt and not believing what her grandfather had just said and tears are slowly cascading on his wife's cheeks.
"Bai Zhi please, Feng Jiu is your granddaughter..."
"Silence!" Bai Zhi's voice boomed in the the large hall. Dong Hua decided to just keep quiet. Then Bai Zhi pointed his finger at Dong hua and said in an angry filled voice,
"You. It's because of you that I came to this decision. Have you really think of the consequences of your actions Dong Hua?! I really and honestly considered you to be a future inlaw but we talked to you before. Your word is what we're holding on to Dong Hua but you broke that word. You should've come to us first than be inconsiderate and took a very rash decision. Now that she's an adult, she needs to decide on whether to stay with us or... "
Bai Zhi's attention shifted back to Feng Jiu and continued,
"... Stay married to you. The world is not fair Xiaojiu. You can't have everything you want in life and I am doing this so you'll learn. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction and every choice carries a consequence."
"But grandfather, the choice you're asking is not fair. " Feng Jiu now cried.
Dong Hua can't stand how pitiful his wife looks at the moment. He put his arms around her shoulders and he felt helpless. He can't do anything. He remembered his grandfather told him about Bai Zhi is that, Bai Zhi upholds promises the most and once a person didn't uphold the promise made, Bai Zhi will never ever trust that person back. Dong Hua realized now his mistake. His selfishness led them to this. Then he saw Feng Jiu just looked at him with tears in her eyes. Dong Hua felt dread crept in his heart. He doesn't know what will happen if Xiaobai chose her family over him. Will he understand Xiaobai's decision? Then Dong Hua heard Bai Yi said,
"I shouldn't have trusted you Dong Hua. You're far older and level headed than my daughter, why? Why can't you use your head?!" Bai Yi said angrily and wants to hit him but to his surprise Xiaobai stopped her father and this act angered Bai Yi more.
"Xiaojiu! Are you getting crazy? You'll really forsake us for that person?!"
Then Dong Hua pulled his wife. He's afraid that Bai Yi will hit his Xiaobai especially now that Bai Yi is really angry. Then they heard Bai Zhi spoke again,
"Is this your decision Xiaojiu?"
The hall became quiet. Then Dong Hua saw Bai Yi left and followed by Bai Zhen. Bai Qian started crying still watching what is happening between her father and her beloved niece.
To Bai Qian's disappointment, she saw her niece nodded back at her father. Bai Qian saw her father closed hi eyes and then said in a whisper,
"Starting today, you are not a Bai. Since you choose Dong Hua, he will be responsible for you. Just forget that you have a family...Feng Jiu. "
With that, Bai Yi opened his eyes and scanned Feng Jiu a last look. His heart is breaking to pieces. He doesn't like this but he's a proud and determined man and also the word of honor is also important to him. Without it, he cannot trust the person. He don't want Dong Hua who doesn't have a word of honor to be a part of his family. He gave Feng Jiu a small smile and still he is proud of his granddaughter. The decision she made is not easy yet, she stood on jer decision today. Bai Zhi decided to leave. He can't stand seeing his granddaughter leave.
Bai Qian followed her father but before leaving she said,
"Let's talk on another day Xiaojiu. For now, I want you to just go. Dong Hua, she's your responsibility now so do take care of her. " then Bai Qian left.
Feng Jiu's knees weakened and she slumpped on the floor. Dong Hua kneeled on the floor and held Feng Jiu who is now sobbing. All can Dong Hua do is hug his wife while rubbing her back to calm her down. Feng Jiu held Dong Hua's arm as if afraid that he'll leave too.
"I'll not leave you Xiaobai. I'll never leave you..." they just hugged each other on the floor.
Today is supposedly a happy day for the newly wedded couple but it ended up a missery for them both.
