Staring at my things on the ground by my car is the craziest thing I ever had done to me. I get off from a hard day's of work to come to the condo to see that my things, my shoes, clothes, toothbrush, everything is on the ground by my car. I look up to see Mossi throwing the rest of the stuff over the balcony and they fall onto the floor. Tears blind me as I pick my clothes up without a word and put them in the trunk of my car.
"Take your shit and get the fuck out. You are no longer welcomed here, bitch!" Mossi yells as he finish throwing the rest of my belongings out.
There is nothing I can do; my name is not on the lease. I fought Mossi tooth and nail to put my name on it, but he ensured me that he wanted to do everything. I never thought it would resort to this. I look up at the condo and shake my head as the tears run down my face and my jaw clenches. I pick up the rest of my stuff with my hands trembling and sweating. I slam my trunk shut after I figure I have all of my things and get in my car. I beat at my steering wheel until my knuckles are sore and red; I look at them through my tears.
How could I be so fucking stupid? No, don't say that. You are not stupid by any means; you just get yourself caught up in the wrong situations. Right, right. I breathe in and start my car. There is only one person I can go to.
Speeding down the expressway, I try to figure out what the hell have I gotten myself into with this situation. No, right now, I need to figure out where I am going to find another place to call my own.
I make it to Yakira's house around 9pm. I knock on her door, she opens it smiling and laughing, all that fades when she sees me in tears and holding my things.
"Oh my Gawd, Azaireyah," She ushers me in the house. "What happened?" She closes the door.
After I have showered and she fixes up the guest room for me to sleep in, and Vytal leaves for a while so Yakira and I can talk. We settle down in the living room, she hands me a cup of my favorite tea, Masala chai tea.
"What happened?" She settles on the sofa next to me, tucking her feet under her.
"I don't know. I got home from work and all my things were on the ground, like trash." I look at the floor as if my things are there. "I look up to see Mossi throwing all of my things out on the ground." I grit my teeth to keep from crying again. "All my shoes, shirts, shirks, jewelry, everything was outside on the ground. He told me I was no longer welcomed there." I sip the tea and the warmth begins to calm my nerves a little, I sigh.
"I knew he was an asshole, but didn't expect this." Yakira rubs my back. "Well, you can stay here as long as you want."
I pull a weak smile, "Thanks, Yakira. But, I do want my own place, you know."
"Yeah, I feel you on that. But, until then you are staying here." She stands up, "It will be fun like an adult sleepover," She squeals.
I couldn't help but laugh at her when she gets all excited, "Yakira, you are crazy but I love you."
"I love you too girl. I am going to bed; I have to work in the morning."
I nod and she goes to her room and closes the door. I sit on the sofa in silence, holding my warm cup of tea. I sigh and look at the time on my phone. 10:16pm.
I wonder if it is too late? Only one way to find out. I dial Santos' number and he picks up on the third ring.
"Hey, Azaireyah. What's going on?" He sounds wide-awake.
"Nothing, I didn't wake you, did I?" I bite my lower lip.
"No, I was just pumping iron," He chuckles.
I chuckle as well, "Oh. Well, can we meet tomorrow?"
He huffs, "Sure. Is everything alright?"
"Yeah," I lie. "I just need someone to talk to."
"Is breakfast at 7am, alright with you? At the waffle house?"
"Sure," A small smile spreads across my weary face.
"I will see you then."
"Thanks. Bye."
"See ya."
We hang up and I go into my room. I look around the room and Yakira has kept majority of the things we used to fangirl over when we were younger. When I would sleep over here to get away from my father, this room was my room and Yakira's bedroom would be across the hallway.
She still lives in her parent's house, but they now live in a nursing home and gave the house to Yakira. I smile at the memories all around me, even though my childhood wasn't as carefree as Yakira's I still had a good time. I snuggle down into the bed and sleep takes me under quickly.
