We were quite content until we were spotted by a robot guard on patrol. (They must have been new, because I'd never seen them before.)
At this particular point in time we just couldn't be bothered to put up a fight, and so we scattered in 3 different directions, hoping to meet up again in the same place after getting rid of the guard.
It was quite a while later when I found myself back at the elevator, relatively unharmed.
That was when Dianne announced in a hushed voice,
"We can't stay down here forever. Sooner or later we're gonna run out of supplies. And anyway, the whole reason we came here was to take these guys down."
I nodded wisely.
"Well, I think I'm ready. You guys?"
"Born ready," Dianne replied fiercely.
"Yep," Jack replied quite timidly.
"Then we're ready," I said.
We crept out of the elevator and into the corridors.
I must admit now I was getting sick and tired of so much white. I concluded that this place would look a whole lot better as rubble.
As we searched for the exit I passed a screen in the wall. I knew I had to resist the temptation to touch it, but I failed in that.
I pressed 'START' and the blue futuristic screen flashed, displaying a 3D blueprint version of the lab and began to give me a sort of audio-visual tour, showing me to each place.
I was about to leave and pursue my friends when something orange and yellow flashed onto the screen.
'THE NUCLEAR CORE.
'SOURCE OF ENERGY, DISTRIBUTED TO LABS WORLDWIDE.
'CAN BE WEAPONISED INTO A BOMB.
DEADLY IF DETONATED.'
Dangerous, huh? I thought to myself. This could come in handy later.
Hurriedly I turned off the screen and ran after Dianne and Jack, hoping to catch up to them before they noticed I was gone.
I heard two screams, and it didn't take me long to realize whom they belonged to.
I ran, as fast as my slightly creaky steel legs would take me.
Then I came face-to-face with two hideous robots.
And they were holding Dianne and Jack.
