Harry did not stop running until he reached Severus's office in the dungeons and banged on the door.
"Harry!" Severus said, throwing the door open. "Please stop that racket!"
"Have... to talk... now..." Harry panted.
Concerned, Severus opened the door wider and allowed Harry in.
"What happened?" Severus asked.
"Quirrell... forest... burned... pain..." Harry said, words still inaudible through his panting.
"Calm down, Harry, and tell me what happened." Severus placed a hand on Harry's arm, causing him to jump and jerk it away.
"I was heading back down to the pitch after dealing with the troll." Harry began. "Quirrell asked for a word, so I followed him. I asked him what he needed, and he said we were going to the forest. I said we're not allowed, and he said Dumbledore would make an exception. So then I said I'd have to ask you and started backing away. He grabbed my arm and said that you would soon have nothing to worry about. As soon as Quirrell touched my bare skin, his hand got all burned. So I came here."
"Quirrell?" Severus asked.
"Yeah." Harry replied. "Have you noticed that he seems... different, since he came back? It's like he's a different person."
"I have noticed some changes..." Severus stared thoughtfully into the fire for a moment. "You should return to the match."
"Why aren't you at the match?" Harry asked, suddenly realizing the strangeness.
"I had some... other things to attend to." Severus hedged. "You should go find your friends."
Harry frowned, but nodded, and, with one last glance back at his father, left the room.

The confrontation with Quirrell changed something within Harry. He became paranoid, jumping at small noises. His grades began slipping. He withdrew from the other students, his friends, and eventually even his family at Hogwarts. Severus had noticed, and was deeply worried, so he sought a meeting with Dumbledore, where he told the old headmaster everything Harry had told him.
"Harry's changed, Albus!" Severus paced up and down the office. "He's frightened of every little thing, and he doesn't confide in me or any of the other teachers! If he finds out about the stone, the will likely do something foolish."
"Will he find out about the stone?" Dumbledore asked quietly.
"Not from me." Severus said, a hint of defiance in his voice. "But you know how Harry is. He meddles, he's a curious young boy, and that could work against him!"
"Who would use that against him, Severus?" Dumbledore asked.
"Whoever keeps targeting him!" Severus was losing his patience. "Quirrell tried to kidnap him a few weeks ago!”
"Severus, you have become paranoid yourself." Dumbledore said. "Just talk to Harry. I do not believe that anything is truly wrong."
Severus gave Dumbledore a dark look and swept from the office.
