The darkness of the night cannot stop the light of the morning. Three days since the tragedy we are really tired. In fact, this incident made Widehope's image even worse. Well, at least some of them from the main building, before they hit 12th grade, some of them moved to get a better place for education. At least without the issue of murder and the likes.
Funerals of people we respect. Good for Aunt Edelweiss, who that night I still can't believe she was holding that baseball bat in a rage, who we all know how gentle she is, who we know how good quality food is in the mouth for the price.
Or Madame Caulburn, who maybe not many of my friends from the back building know, but who made a fine student. I'll be honest that I didn't like her behavior and what she did to us. But I believe it's not a bad thing. If we are trash, then that person is a recycling machine. It just makes us useful.
Two days ago after their funeral, I was still wondering. Why did it have to be Gertrude and Rita? I mean does someone hold a grudge against two girls who are totally obsessed with unusual animals?
Mrs. Beagle gave me a report which was probably very good indeed. But the problem is that it doesn't make me happy at all. Time can never wait, while a lazy guy like me can never force anyone to always be fast. The fact is I am cursed by time. Because it never comes at the right time.
To be honest, at our young age, the police's questions were very disturbing. We sat in the canteen, me and some friends. No one interfered, just me and a friend I trusted. After all I want to make myself useful. Well, the thing is this girl isn't making her way out at all.
“I told you, Mark, I'm following someone. She, a person in a yellow coat. It was raining really hard at that time and I couldn't just let her do whatever she wanted. I mean isn't that suspicious?”
I turned to each other with Gwendoline. While Verdamant had already shook his head disapprovingly. I know what he wants to throw out, but I hope it doesn't happen.
“Um… but, why should anyone bother seeing someone during heavy rain, high winds and thunder? It's even cold outside. You can freeze, right?” Roddy added. “I mean, I just want to give advice to anyone. What you need on a cold night is waiting for the sun with your blanket and pillow, yeah?”
I totally agree with him. Gwendoline also told me that's what she would do when she came home from the library at about seven in the evening.
"Well, maybe it is. But there's no ban on going to the toilet at night even though it's stormy?” James replied.
"Thanks, James, but I didn't want to go to the toilet at the time," added the girl, still insistent. "Maybe I'm not who everyone thinks I am. Trust me! I peep from one window of this flat. This person in a yellow coat, dragging Rita, through the cafeteria and the health unit, headed towards the apple trees. Then I followed behind, trying to untangle them, then suddenly…”
"You woke up in the infirmary?"
“Yeah, Gwen! That's all I'm saying! See, I have the facts. But I don't know how to put it, okay?”
“It's all about information, Sonia! I'm not going to bother forcing your ass here to be judged by many! Today the police have named a suspect, which is you! You will be taken to jail and will never get out. Because this case brought victims several names. You will be beheaded!” Gwendoline obviously insisted too.
Sonia was frustrated whose eyes were starting to shed her frustration. I've seen this before, during the Foscow incident. My premonition is much worse than yesterday.
“I've been honest! How can I prove my honesty?”
Verdamant pounded the table. It was the first time she made an expression of looking down at someone with the most contempt.
"Well, start explaining with Mark looking at you!" rough tone.
“I don't understand what you mean!!” Sonia in hysterical tone.
“Um… what we mean is how does Mark see that yellow coat girl with china red writing?”
Everyone started asking reasonable questions, but I still couldn't see where the weirdness was. But on the other hand I feel that Sonia is also right. We don't have much time, because these three days are the last time defending her. If not, prison will become her suspension within one month. When that too has passed, she will be executed.
"Guys, calm down for a moment," I said to calm the situation.
The problem is that it won't happen again, because Superintendant Mcpherson has come. Two officers served patiently even though Sonia struggled when her hands were handcuffed and she was about to be taken to the car.
“I'm sorry, guys. Normally we immediately drag suspects to be put in a special place, but I gave them a chance. I know it's hard. I also don't want it to end like this, after all, if the fact isn't this girl. You have to understand the adult world, our bureaucracy and our responsibilities.” Mcpherson said to me resignedly.
“Wait a minute, sir!” I said, following the two officers who were carrying Sonia. Gwendoline followed behind me.
The moment the car door opened, I tried my best to hold it.
"I have two quick questions for Sonia, may I?"
One of them sighed and allowed.
"What did you see last there?"
"Didn't I already say?"
"No no no, just say everything clearly!" i said a bit hasty.
“Gertrude and Rita were lying and tied to an apple tree. I see five shops are closed, Mr. Juan, Miss Solstice, Aunt Edelweiss and two empty shops. There's no one else."

"Good. Who were you chasing then? You have to answer that according to what really happened during the rainy conditions,"
She paused. When she was about to raise her mouth, her face looked doubtful
"Someone in a yellow coat?"
I nod confidently. Then I took something out of my pocket.
"You remember this?"
I threw the gold necklace at her.
She caught it with a surprised face.
“I'm an honest person. If it was not happen, then I say no."
"Oh, of course. Let's see how I save your ass!”
Without waiting any longer, they immediately took Sonia away. Mcpherson had tried hard to negotiate a month's time with his boss, which I thought was more than enough. At least Mrs. Beagle helped me meddle too.
Gwendoline looked at me with some questions. I understood not only the gold necklace, but why I started smiling while they were all in the rescue of our other friends.
“I will answer that when you knock on my door eighteen years from now, Gwen. Because you're the best friend.”
She sighed.
“Well, put that aside. But since you said I'm your best friend, I think you'll need my help again?”
“That's obvious. Summer essay is coming.”
