My steps quickened towards Gwendoline's place. After getting the information from Miss Beagle, I started to have a bright spot. At least I understand one of us is the culprit. That's a fact that can't be debunked, or I can't find anything to disprove it.
Passing the lab, then toward the front building. I went straight to the library. Amidst my racing thoughts, I heard someone call my name three times.
"Elysa?" I looked back.
I saw three people approaching me, Elysa, Prestone and Herald. They said a few words of condolences. Also, They asked and wanted to know what really happened, but I didn't give them any information. Once great man said, ignorance is salvation.
“I can't, this isn't something you have to get into.” My feet continued to twitch.
The Herald's hand stopped me.
“At least, you can ask for any help? Perhaps the information you need?”
He tucked the ID in my pocket. I don't know what this classy-faced guy was thinking sink something to the bottom of the mud. Something fishi on my pocket.
"Thank you, see you later."
They finally understood and stopped making things difficult for me.
It's a bit odd that despite the former murder case, the library is still open. And some students still walk around a lot and read books in that place. Well, maybe it's not the time for me to worry about it.
After that, I opened the library door, then I showed my ID Card to the officer. Then I rushed up to the second floor, where Gwendoline worked part time. The problem is I see some people are busy putting books. I think there is quite a busy job.
I saw lambs alike running towards me. When I rubbed my eyes it turned out to be the candy head, Gwendoline.
“Mark… help!”
I told her to regulate his breathing rhythm.
“You must help me! Today we have five thousand book and five thousand article ideas, so this is going to take a while!”
Gwendoline glanced around. Then she focused on her desk. That's a lot of piles.
I noticed everything was a bit messy, while walking a little around. I saw that the two sections of the information unit had several people to assist them. As for Gwendoline, the books were many and piled up on her desk unattended.
"Shouldn't you have someone to help you?" I asked in surprise.
I could tell from the expression on her face that looked down and was a bit shy.
"Okay, I'll wait after-" I said while turning around.
His small body wrapped around my waist and prevented me from moving.
“P-please, help me! Can't you see this is absolutely impossible? I'll pay you, don't worry!” her voice panicked and her hands tugging my clothes.
Well, actually without being asked or paid, I will still do it. The problem is that this bad habit of mine always bothers her. I never really intended to leave her alone.
"Fine, fine, please continue,"
She gave me easy-to-understand explanations. She typed all the data into her computer. Then she read out whatever I needed to write on a small piece of paper. Later I use the paper to put the book on the shelf according to the information entered into the computer.
I helped her until the moon replaced the sun. All this hard work at least makes my waist and legs a little cramped. At least Gwendoline was in charge of our time off. I'm talking about lunch and dinner. She even prepared some snacks that she bought from the nearest cafeteria. It's only three blocks from the library. And we ate on the second floor of the library, a place where it's allowed to talk that turns out to be okay to eat.
I sat back at the table.
“Gwen, I'll remember this,” I said then took a swig of a lychee flavored isotonic drink.
"Hey, hey, don't put my name in the dictionary of that annoying person in your shallow brain!"
It was the first time I felt working overtime and it made my whole body go numb.
"Gwen, I need some information."
She then handed me some books and newspapers.
“Bullying case. These three people, look,” Gwendoline showed me the Route24tication newspaper printed by the old Widehope student newspaper club.
Route24tication Newspaper is a print newspaper created by Widehope's students from the newspaper club. It mostly deals with rumors at Widehope School, but occasionally deals with general matters surrounding Yorkshire, especially Darley. It is distributed internally on Widehope School only.
Reading the names, I immediately asked Gwendoline to get the student book. As soon as the book was proffered which was taken from under Gwen's desk, I without hesitation opened it quickly until I found the page I needed.
"Heather, Kelsey, and Penelope."
Seeing that photo reminds me of my friends, Penelope at least. Especially with girl that now I was talking to.
"At least we know these candy hairs look alike." I pointed at one of the photos, then looked at Gwen.
"What?! You think this hair is the first in the world, huh?!” she replied with a bit of annoyance.
Then I told Gwendoline to give me the data she found that caught her attention the most. She gave me some Daily Newsmonger Newspaper articles, and they were very interesting indeed. Gwendoline is short-genius girl and an my top informan that unquestionably accurate.
I read from beginning to end. After the title addict case, I became interested in Eccley Pittersbugh Hospital.
"Ah isn't this a rather new newspaper? I mean I've read about the runaway patient," I handed it back to Gwendoline.
I think I’ve ever heard once, at least that hospital name.
She narrowed her eyes.
“This was ten years ago! Look at this,” she said and showing me.
Well, it was written just like she said. It has been many years ago.
“But, I swear! I have a local paper that says the same thing. Is that a recurring incident?”
"I don't know, but in this world there are many possibilities that are unexpected," she added, holding out the local newspaper. "I'm also a bit interested in this."
I furrowed my brows as Gwendoline pointed at the caption 'A killer without a face, smell and gun'. Well, at least it almost same with the case.
"You found the names concerned?"
“There is one, Gutierrez. Russian immigrants and stuck with bad things. I'm not interested in their family matters. But once I matched that floating woman from the title of ‘Faceless, Smelly, Gunless Killer’ well, at least something similar.”
"But I didn't find the name written in the newspaper?" I protested in surprise.
“Obviously nothing, I just matched! But don't you think this 'killer' sign has related to do with something?" said Gwendoline, throwing away her empty bottle.
“I don't understand this Gutierrez. Is this person very dangerous?”
She took a deep breath.
"Should I start there?" asked Gwendoline objectionably.
"Please get me whatever it is, whether it's Gutierrez or any other related news."
Then she went to the first floor. I decided to wait for her to come back. After all I didn't take that information and suddenly decided.
I turned back the newspaper. The same newspaper I read yesterday, the local newspaper. Surprisingly it appears that this library has an update for even Daily Newsmonger newspaper that usually found in conveinence store. But my brows furrowed and my eyes narrowed at the slightly blurred image. I find it a little weird, why is it blurred on the head anyway?
In about fifteen minutes, Gwendoline returned with some more old newspapers.
I just read some of the titles.
“Smuggling…bribery…kidnapping…murder….”
After a few minutes, Gwendoline returned. Of course I only read the outline of the information. For my preference, it is the information from Gwendoline's capable and conscientious mouth that I take precedence.
“Many years ago, the Gutierrez family, they were executed in Moscow. The punishment was witnessed by all Muscovites and was named the "Capture of State Terrorists," Gwendoline explained while brings some books.
“It is said that Gutierrez terrorized and spread fake news that disturbed the balance in the European region, smuggled several illegal drugs, and bribed several journalists. However, after that happened, the law allowed their children to live a normal life,” I said while reading one of the newspapers.
I'm starting to get dizzy with all this stuff. Adding information does not mean opening a way out. It's like you walk into a door where there are a thousand times more doors, and getting deeper is like a paradox.
I walked a little, giving my ass a chance not to sit too long. I saw the clock was pointing at nine.
"All right, Gwen, let's stop here," I added. "Oh yeah, the newspaper about those three names?" I stretched out my hand asking
With carefully, she sorted and thrust into my hand.
“Can I borrow that student book?”
"Yeah, just don't lose it."
After that I helped Gwendoline tidy up a few things, especially with these papers. I'll leave Gwendoline alone as she'll be writing some reports. I felt a little guilty when I left the library building.
It was a tiring night, even after all that happened. Arriving at the room, I can not wait to read some of the newspapers I brought. Some information is enough to keep me awake and thinking all night. I also remember when the herald slipped a card in my pocket. Well, I think it's okay with him too.
Second, I remembered something else.
“Oh? That is true! Yesterday's police badge!”
