It was a hot afternoon, heralding the start of summer vacation. Our last lesson was Caulburn, I still remember how stupid Roddy was. The days we hoped for have arrived. But the fact is, there are… there are things that you don't want to deal with. You want a hint? Well, final exams and vacation. What do you think about it?
Everyone started to gather, a fairly large board with white paper plastered on it. It listed some information. What determines whether later can vacation in peace or not. At least I recognized those gloomy faces.
"Are you safe Rod?"
I tapped the poor man on the shoulder.
"I don't feel the slightest sympathy from you. You're in the top ten after all!” his tone was a bit sullen.
I don't think it's too different from year to year. Dumb fellas like Roddy, Rodriguez, Chandler, Gabbi, and Riggs. Anyway all the boys in my class, other than myself and Foscow, will be facing quite a bit of extra class.
“Do you remember what I told you, Rod?”
"What do you mean?"
"Learn! And you are safe from summer vacation!”
“Trash, Mark!” Riggs snapped.
I walked around, Verdamant looked a little sad. Pebble said she would help Verdamant with English Literature. I don't think that's too bad. The problem is, why didn't you ask to teach English literature yesterday?
Someone I didn't even want to talk to approached.
"Congratulations Mark!" she said while asking for a handshake.
"As always, you're always on top, Sonia."
I kind of smiled sourly.
We chatted for a bit. However, the bell has rung, indicating that anyone whose name is written in red ink must attend additional lessons.
Instead of going straight back to my room and doing nothing, for one day I want to go somewhere. But first I have to tell Foscow first.
"Good morning, Miss Beagle."
I saw Foscow sorting out the paperwork while the glamor woman swept the floor.
"Ah, rancid boy," she said a bit disappointed and looked away for a moment then continued her activities again.
“Hey Mark!”
"How are you, Foscow?"
he snorted.
"Still need rest," he added in a whisper. “That's what the Beagle said! I actually healthy!”
"Oh yes?" I added. “Well, I have come bearing good news. You're safe, and the others are the same as always."
He nodded without surprise.
"Not surprising, I think," he said, still whispering. "Look, you know it's summer vacation, right?"
"No way, Fatty!" Beagle suddenly intterupted with angrily. “Don't try to plan anything weird!”
As always, Miss Beagle's ears were like those of an intelligence agent. No matter how small the sound, this beauty can still hear. I mean, what can't she hear?
I turned to the Beagle. From the expression on her face it looks uncompromising.
“Give it up, Foscow! She's on the period!” I whispered.
“Huh? How do you know?"
Quickly, she grabbed my ear. Then pull it by force.
“Ouch! C-couldn't you be more subtle?” I groaned in pain.
My ears are both hot. This woman has nothing good besides her face and body which could be the prima donna of all men.
"You should know polite words!" he added. "By the way, I don't mind just going around the school."
Foscow's face shook in surrender, what else can I do? I guest this better than nothing?
I asked him to walk around. We chatted briefly as usual. I bring the biscuits that I bought from Aunt Edelweiss. We watched from afar, Roddy and the others, those morons, what were they doing?
“Hey, why are they skipping class?”
I looked the other way.
“More importantly, look at it! Caulburn is after them!”
We watched from a distance. I can see why Caulburn is acting like that, problem is you can't get over the teacher. I, who say I can make a Beagle angry, would never have dared to do what Roddy did.
Well, on the other hand, it was Aunt Edelweiss who stood up for Roddy. From their gestures, she seemed to be apologizing for them. But Caulburn persisted.
Someone came from behind me.
"Hello! What are you doing?"
One person carries a pack of oranges.
“Oh you guys! Look better here!” asked Foscow excitedly.
I'm actually more accepting of James than this girl.
“Huh? What did he do?" James asked.
We provide opinions. After a while, it ended in their defeat. She finally managed to drag them into a room, well for advice. At least it's not like Aunt Edelweiss is helpless.
“What are you doing here, Sonia?”
He handed Foscow a pack of oranges. The problem is she didn't answer my question. What annoyed me even more was that she overtook another question.
"Hey, hey, doesn't that Aunt Edelweiss look weird?"
"I dunno, I've never bought anything from her other than orange juice," James shrugged.
"You have no right to-"
"Hey, Mark, wait a minute," Foscow held my shoulder, then he looked at Sonia rather seriously "Can you explain, Sonia?"
It's quite embarrassing because my fire is already burning. I almost exploded because my blood boiled almost to the surface. Thanks to Foscow, this time he was wiser than me. But I can't figure out why Foscow looks interested too.
"Hm ... for example, at night she at outside?" said Sonia casually.
“Huh? What's so strange about that?" I asked while looking at him deeply.
Honestly, this girl is annoying. She prepared as if she knew everything. Once upon a time, her words offended Verdamant. Well, actually she didn't mention it directly, but the absent-minded Pebble.
At that time, in the 10th grade, there was outdoor learning for the first time. All of us in our 10th grade class were taken to Alnwick Park, Northumberland, a park filled with poisonous plants. We were divided into several groups, by several teachers, there were approximately three groups. We entered the third group.
At that time, if I'm not mistaken, we were allowed to take off our hazmat, when the officer there introduced us to a plant. My memory is rather vague, but it's red. What happened was that Pebble caught Sonia slipping the plant in Verdamant's pocket. They bickered, but Verdamant stood up for Pebble more. Well, they have a package.
"All the shops are closed and go back to their respective homes, Mark!"
"Then what's the problem? There could be a bed in her shop, right?” I asked curtly.
“No, I've secretly looked into it. It's quite cramped after all!”
We looked at each other. At least my eyes suddenly locked eyes with James who was also confused. After all, what girls do is always like that?
"Is that true? I thought I was dreaming."
"What? You too, Foscow?”
He nodded confidently. Foscow told it in detail. Foscow said that one night he was hungry. He thought maybe Aunt Edelweiss' burger would end his stomach's misery. Walking out in the corridor, Foscow noticed from a distance that Aunt Edelweiss would sometimes be seen pacing around her shop restlessly at night.
"Pacing around?" James asked.
“Yeah. I thought she was waiting for someone."
"Wait a minute! Why are you hungry at midnight, idiot?” I asked a little surprised.
“Hey, humans get hungry at those hours, you idiot! What's more, I'm not enough for one burger?” Foscow replied grumpily.
I snorted, this whole thing just doesn't make any sense. But it's also weird. It wouldn't be strange if it was a diligent worker who had a lot on his mind. The problem is, has Aunt Edelweiss slept in such a cramped place for years?
After some time, the conversation ended there. I wandered around for a while to get some fresh air. The problem is getting my brain racing. I need those answers. I went to some small shops. There are five stores that are still within the scope of the Widehope area. At least it was in the neighborhood section of the back building. One of them belonged to Aunt Edelweiss.
“Huh? An unusual person."
“Hey Mark! Looking for something?" said the other girl with short hair.
The shop is quiet, but not for these two kids. Gertrude and Rita. They are like eternal customers of this store. They tend to like things that most people don't. Normally people seeing a centipede would be instantly killed by reflex. Not for them. Better to keep it in a bottle as pet food.
“Beckey, you are too! An unusual person. Looking for a sneaky tool?”
“Eh? No, no! she added while embracing the two people. "I was bored and they asked me."
This sounded normal if both of them, but not to Beckey. She is on the same frequency as Verdamant.
"We just help her find food for guests who suddenly enter her room." Gertrude played with her long hair.
"What kind of guest?"
