The Lucky Barn is a country-style designed restaurant here in California that serves Barbeque. It's kind of like The Saddle Ranch, but smaller and you don't have to wait in line forever for a table. Also, you won't find Bryce Hall or Tana Mongeau here. The tables have red, white, and blue covers over them, famous country stars such as Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton hang on the wall. The waitresses wear cowboy hats and Rangler skirts.
Coming close to the booth, I see Dean and Juliette come into view. Whatever they were talking about seems serious since I see Juliette's lips purse up. "What the hell did he say to you?" I demand, talking to Juliette.
She yanks my arm, pulling me into the booth with her. "Nothing, Dean was just talking that's all." She assures me.
I don't believe her. My eyes land on Dean, he's looking directly at Juliette. He still has that smug look on his face, dark green eyes that seduce women, and hair like Timothee Chalamet. He has a sharp jaw, hollow cheeks, and bushy eyebrows like Brooke Shields.
"How's Teddy?" She asks me.
I lean into her, "Not fine, but he'll get through it."
"I'm sorry, but, who's this guy?" Dean asks Juliette. His eyes scan me like a server, taking in my look. I wish I could run across this table and rip them out of his head.
I want to say, "Hey, I'm the guy who punched you in the face at the Zeta Psi party." I bite my tongue, fighting to stop the words from escaping my mouth. I don't want to cause a scene in front of Jules, or even Dean.
"He's the guy I've been fucking since you cheated on me with that skanky whore, I called a roommate." I choke out a laugh, well damn, and I thought I was the one who would go off. "And might I add, he's good with his fingers." Oh god, when is a waitress going to come over here.
Dean's nose starts to flare, a hot inferno blazing in his eyes. I can see his hands gripping the table. "You fucked another guy, Juliette; I was supposed to be the only one."
"And I was supposed to be the only girl YOU were fucking, but promises get broken all the time." She slugs some of her red Fanta soda down.
"Uh, waitress!" I yell to anyone, I'm not that hungry, but I need food to take my mind away from what's going to go down.
"I said I was sorry Julie-pop." Julie-pop?
"Then why did you do it, why would you hurt me?" Her voice starts to crack, I clutch her hand under the table, but she moves it away. "I loved you! I gave you everything, we did unspeakable things to each other, and I come home to find you knee-deep in my roommate!" The restaurant was empty, thank god, no one needs to hear this conversation.
Guilt rides his face, that fire that was once in his eyes has been blown out by the guilt. I don't think he truly understands how deeply he hurt Juliette, how much pain and suffering she went through.
"Crystal didn't mean-"
"Don't you dare say her name to me? That bitch could die right now and I wouldn't care. Men like you- ugh men like you. Just -tell me why you did it?"
He explains, "You were always busy with your classes, and I was lonely. When I stopped by your dorm room, Crystal was there. She listened to me talk, next thing I know, her hand was on my thigh then we had sex. After that, I felt guilty. That's why I ignored you for those couple of days, but you never noticed since you were busy with classes. I went back and had sex with her again, and I couldn't stop."
"Wait, I thought you only had sex with her once, it was multiple times. I think I'm going to be sick; this was a mistake. Dre, get up please." She tells me, shoving on my shoulder.
"Are you sure?" I ask her.
"Yes, please." Her voice comes out gently. I get up from the bench, she runs out the door, the bell jingling on the top of it.
I look towards Dean, "You fucked up man."
"Don't you think I fucking know that? It's eating me up that I hurt her." He rests his head against the table. I leave him there to wallow in his self-pity, pushing through the door to check on Juliette.
She stands on the sidewalk; cars pass us by on the street. The wind blows hard, pushing her black hair off her neck as a cigarette hangs out her mouth.
"You, ok?" I come up next to her.
"No, that bastard." She sneers. "I can't believe I agreed to come to this, knowing it would only make me angry." Smoke puffs out of her mouth. "What is he doing?"
I turn to see Dean playing with the menu on the table, his eyes look haunted. "He's looking at the menu."
"Does he look sad?"
"He does." She smiles.
Her brown eyes glance up at me, swirls of pain and sadness creasing in her skin. "Take me home, take my mind off of him." Her head points towards the restaurant.
"Are you sure? Fucking isn't going to solve anything." Trust me, I tried that when I broke up with Jessie. Every day I was sleeping with a different girl, whether that be at their place, my car, or the closet of the science building. Where ever I could get it, I took it. In the end, I was hollow inside, just coasting through the day like a zombie.
"No, it won't. But it will take my mind off of this situation." She grabs my hand and takes me down the street. "My cars right down the street."
"Your car? It's pretty cramped in there." I notify her.
"Just lay down, I'll do everything."

I watch as Juliette's car pulls out the driveway, then I walk up the walkway to the house. My back hurts like a bitch. Juliette made me lay in her backseat at a grotesque angle while she rode me like a Harley. She went so fast I thought my dick was going to fall off. We went through three rounds, on the second I wanted to make her stop, but she held my hands down. It was pleasurable, don't get me wrong, but it was something that she needed so I went along.
The house is pitch black, no person for miles. Once I turn a light on, I see Doug and Carlee making out on the couch. Carlee looks up over the couch, sees me in view, and starts to scream, readjusting get hijab.
"You said no one was going to be home tonight!" She hits Doug's shoulder. She comes from under him, adjusting her pale green dress that stops at the knees.
"That was true! Dude what are you doing back so early?" I check the time on my watch, it's midnight. Damn, how long did Juliette and I fuck?
"The night was over for me, but not for you two, apparently." I point down to Doug's pants, his button was undone, showing his visible erection. "Were you two going to. . ."
"We were," Carlee says.
I see Doug's eyes widen, "We- we were." I swear I saw doves fly over his head.
"But now the mood is gone since Andreas messed it up." I can see his eyes blazing. She pulls on his shirt, tonguing him down hard. "I'll see you later, call me." He smacks her butt; she giggles and runs down the hall.
Once she's gone, Doug whispers some haunting words in my ear. "You're dead, man."
