Elizabeth's P.O.V-
I sit criss-cross on Bridget's pink-cherry duvet as I do my philosophy homework. Our professor gives us questions, and we have to answer them the best way we can. The question of the week is: What is the difference between euthanasia and assisted suicide?
Before I have the option to answer it, the door flies open to the room. It's Bridget. She twirls around the room dramatically, tossing a Paisley silk scarf that's on her head, over her shoulder. The scarf is paired with mauve Chanel Rectangle sunglasses, sparkly studs are on the side.
Dramatically, she slings herself on the bed, crinkling my homework. "Bridge, you're messing up my papers." I try to tug the papers from under her. "Get your fat ass up."
She gasped, scrambling up from the bed and heading over to the vanity mirror on the sidewall. She squishes her face up, trying to see how much face meat she has. "Oh god, I am fat. I've been walking around looking like a blowfish! The horror." I roll my eyes while closing my homework and putting it in my crossbody.
There's no way I can get work done with Bridget acting like this. "I was joking, Bridget."
"Lies!" She points a manicured finger at me.
"Ugh, what's wrong with you? And why are you dressed like Audrey Hepburn from Charade?" Trust me, I've never watched the movie. It would always pop up on TV late at night. I always skipped over it.
"Something bad has happened, I can't change it." She paces the room, her sandals clanking against the ground.
"What."
"It's horrible."
"What is it?"
"Oh! Someone just get a knife and kill me!" She screams to the heavens.
"DAMN IT BRIDGET! Just tell me what happened so I can get on with my homework." Her eyes widen at my loud voice. She clutches her invisible pearls.
"My problems are way more important than your little homework, you're only a freshman, it's the easiest year of your life."
"You're telling me your life is more important than my passing college," I say the words slowly so she can digest them.
"Exactly. You get it!" She plops back on the bed, taking off her sunglasses and putting them on her dresser. "Eliza, I did something. . .horrible."
"And I ask again, what did you do," I swear, if she doesn't tell me, I'm going to wrap that scarf around her dainty neck, squeezing it until she turns purple.
She tells me her story, "At the party on Greek row a couple's night ago, I hooked up with someone. It was amazing, don't get me wrong, this guy is an animal in bed, but as soon as it was over, I regretted it."
I give her a dumbfounded look. That's it? She slept with a random person; I don't see the big deal. College kids sleep with random people all the time, it is literally what college is for, one-night stands and threesomes. I don't participate in it, but I would never shut someone down if they wanted to do it.
"That middle part was a little too much," I confess. "But Bridget, so you had a one-night stand, your life isn't over," I assure her.
She moves her hand from mines, fiddling with the hem of her satin dress. "It wasn't a one-night stand, we've slept together before, many, many times." She confesses.
"Who was it?" I asked. I hope it wasn't some weirdo, or hell, someone I know. It better not be Andreas.
"Teddy." Her voice comes out small, but I understood what she said.
I scrunch my face up, there's only one Teddy I know, but I play along as if I don't know. "Teddy Montgomery for 90210?"
"No."
"Ted Lasso?" I guess again.
"No."
I snicker, "Teddy. . .Bear?" This was just for laughs and giggles.
She groans, "Elizabeth! Stop playing with me, you know who I'm talking about. Teddy Ackman, Andreas's best friend. I don't know how it happened, maybe it was the many Tequila shots I downed or the way I'm always horny-"
"Bridget, I don't need the lead-up to the sex."
"Right. We've kind of dated in the past, but it didn't work out. Later on, I found Kam and we've been together since, but sometimes when we have a fight or break up, I go back to Teddy. It's wrong of me to do that, knowing that it's just a one-time thing, and then he has to see me with Kam around campus. Kam's coming back in a few days, he's going to dump me." She rubs her face, leaning over on her knees.
"You're in quite a pickle, Bridge."
"Thanks for letting me know that, country bumkin. I need your advice, what should I do?" I readjust my legs; I felt a cramp starting to form.
"Just tell Kam the truth, and hopefully he forgives you. And also, maybe there's a part of you that. . .maybe still likes Teddy. You keep sleeping with him, it's got to mean something."
Realization comes over her face, "I may. I always end up going to him when Kam and I have a problem or fight. Besides sleeping together, he gives me good advice, and he loves my dramatics." Her laser eyes point directly to me. "But Kam, I have a good time with him, but I have to try hard to keep up with him. He's a smarty guy, he uses big words like carnivorous and exuberant." I want to tell her these are common words regular dumb Americans use, but she's already down. I'll let her have it.
"I think you already gave your answer, Bridget. Now, let me get back to my homework." I kiss the side of her forehead. She goes and lays on the futon by her window, while I focus on answering my philosophy question: What is the difference between euthanasia and assisted suicide?
Answer: Nothing, they end up dying in the end.
✏️✏️✏️✏️
"Damn Doug, this is really good," Daniel says, congratulating Doug. Every week, someone from the house makes dinner for everyone. My week is next week, I'm thinking of making homemade chicken tacos.
Doug decided to make homemade chicken soup. He cut up all the vegetables and even made the broth. It tastes ten times better than chicken noodle soup from the grocery store. We all sit in the dining room of the house, we never come in here unless were eating at the table.
Doug is at the head of the table with Carlee on the left and Andreas on the right. Next to Carlee is Bridget and me. On Andreas's side are Monica and Jace.
Monica and Jace spend the time talking and flirting with each other. When I accidentally dropped my spoon, I saw them playing footsie under the table. I almost gagged, they had no shoes on. I felt like I was watching foot porn.
Since Bridget and I talked yesterday, she's been sulking around. She's stressing out about the whole sleeping-with-Teddy-thing. Kam's coming back this weekend, it's kind of hard to hide the fact that she's slept with Teddy. According to Bridget, everyone who is anyone was at that party. Occasionally, I rub her hand, reassuring her that it'll be alright.
Since we've sat down, Doug's been ignoring Carlee. No one knows why. She first complimented him on the soup, he nodded and slurped up a carrot, to which he almost choked on. After a while, she told everyone she had to study for a big math test, gave Doug a lingering look, and walked out the dining room with a pouty lip.
20 minutes into dinner, Bridget decides she wants to retire to bed. She kissed everyone on the cheek, giving Doug two kisses since he made wonderful soup, then dragged herself up the stairs, shutting the door softly.
Doug's now on his phone, Monica and Jace are practically Kim Kardashian and Ray J, making us watch a sex tape we don't want to see. Daniel took his soup to his room, he was working on something, to which he wouldn't tell anybody what. The only ones with nothing to do are me and Andreas.
He sits next to Doug, dipping his crackers in the soup all while glancing up at me every once in a while. All I do is give him a smug look as I sip on my water.
I know what he wants to do, he wants to taunt me, play with me. He gets a thrill out of messing with me, making me squirm under his glare. I won't lie to myself, it's quite fun, but I want to win.
I'm sure he has won the game every single time, those girls are weak, but not me. He can come to me all he wants, graze my boobs and check me out as I walk up the stairs, BUT that's it.
Elizabeth Pratt will not be fully seduced by Andreas Chen. Maybe partially, but not fully.
His words ring in my head:
"I didn't come to you, but your hard-ass tits in the thin tank top."
"You have an excellent body, Elizabeth; it shouldn't be hidden against all those baggy clothes."
"You sit here and judge me for coming to you, but you're not asking the lingering question. Why didn't you move?"
"I saw your tiny hand gripping the railing, legs squeezed so tight like they are now."
Now, his eyes are all over me. He plays it off like he's leaning down for a spoonful of soup, but I see his eyes dipping to my chest. Darkness swirls in his pools, lingering drags of sexual tension seize the air around him. This is the perfect moment, to get him back for what happened in the library and hall on the night of the party.
Just to my luck, I was wearing a light blue contrast lace top. I shrug off my jacket and sit it on the back of my chair. I see Andreas bite his lip, heat bores in his eyes. It's working. No one will notice me; they're off doing their own thing.
