The technology that humanity had created were unimaginably advance, allowing them do achieve some impossible feats.
Among of which is terraforming of the planets in the solar system, such as Jupiter and Saturn. And sending expeditions beyond the Solar System.
But Humanity also created weapons. Weapons that could potentially wipe out the entire solar system and that was what all the Hybrid nations wanted.
Weapons that could destroy.
On the surface of Triton, the moon of the planet Neptune, There was a storage facility there that held some mostly interesting things. Technology that was deemed 'low priority' by the Hybrid nations.
The Rebel group known as The Humanitarian had an interest on one of the technology stored there.
They sent 2 to get it, the pessimistic and hot-headed young Half Serpent woman ,Naiyan, and the bloodthirsty mercenary Half Reptile woman , Vendetta.
It was supposed to be an easy mission but Vendetta tripped the alarms, probably intentionally, and caused a fight. They managed to dispose what little guards were there.
With the keycard the took from a dead guard, they entered the vault pretty easily.
When the door opened, they went inside.
"This entire operation is botched up," Naiyan sighed, frustrated, "She told us to sneak in not blaze through everything and everyone!"
"Don't be such a sourpuss!" Vendetta replied with smug, "I'm a professional at this!" She said as she wiped the bloodstains off her blade.
"How about you shut it will you?" Naiyan huffed angrily.
Vendetta just smirked in response before making her way towards a control panel. As she was dealing with that, Naiyan stood guard.
"Can you hurry up there!" Naiyan growled impatiently, "I don't want us to get caught,"
"Shut it! I'm not tech savvy," Vendetta replied.
"Wish Kingslayer was here..." She muttered.
"Who?" Naiyan asked.
"Old friend, probably dead," Vendetta answered, "There we go!"
There was sound of machinery. Then a storage capsule was pulled out of the metal wall.
It was slowly placed onto a platform and it opened.
The 2 checked it out and saw bits and pieces of scraps inside. It's unknown why it would be stored like this, perhaps it would've been studied one day.
"So... uhhh" Vendetta said, "What now?"
"I don't know!" Naiyan exclaimed, "They said it should be one piece!"
"Whatever just put all of in a bag and let's get the hell out!"
The 2 hastily placed everything in that capsule into a bag.
"Alright let's get out of here!" Suddenly, the exit door opened.
An entire squad of soldiers were there, pointing their weapons on them.
Before anything could be said, Vendetta acted quickly. She threw something that caused a blinding light and blinded them.
Another slaughter happened.
They fought through a bullet storm, killing everyone. Vendetta was laughing maniacally during the whole thing. After that ended, they returned to their hidden ship and flew off into space.
Naiyan was flying while Vendetta sat next to her.
Vendetta stretched her arms and sighed in satisfaction.
"Another job well done!" She smiled.
"How are we going to explain this to-" before she could finish, Vendetta interrupted and said.
"Oh just say an infestation happened or something, I don't really care!"
"Whatever..." Naiyan shrugged.
"So was this how it was?" She asked.
"What?" Vendetta looked at her.
"You kept boasting about the time you were part of the Reunification Rebellion," Naiyan said, "Did this always happen? you messing up everything!"
"Well back then I did mostly killing rather than sneaking," Vendetta answered, "Why are you suddenly curious about my past?"
"I'm just asking," Naiyan replied, "I mean, it doesn't matter really, but you keep mentioning the rebellion and the war,"
"And?"
"Nothing," Naiyan mumbled, "Nothing," She added.
"If you wanna know about it, you could just ask!"
"Maybe, next time..." Naiyan said.
They continued their journey back to their secret hideout.
After a very long trip through space, they reached one of the many hideouts the Humanitarians have, somewhere on the man-made surface of Jupiter.
"Did you know Jupiter was once a planet filled with nothing but gas?" Vendetta
said when they landed the ship, "And it had a massive swirling tornado,"
"Is there any point in continuing this conversation?" Naiyan said, getting tired of hearing it.
She just chuckled.
The two climbed out of the ship and walked out of the landing pad, where they would go meet someone waiting for them outside in the dusty environment.
"Well that was... quick" A young Half Canine greeted.
"Hey! Tech! grab this will you!" Naiyan threw the bag of scraps on the ground.
"Be careful! There's priceless artifacts in there!"
He grabbed the heavy bag and all of them went inside, towards the workshop. Inside the messy workshop lies a ton of parts scattered on the tables and shelves.
Tech placed the bag on a table and looked through the contents.
"Got anything interesting?" Vendetta asked
curiously as she leaned on the table and watched Tech fiddle around with different devices, wires, and other materials.
"Not really," Tech replied casually, "Although, there is this thing,"
He pulled out a shard of some sort out of the bag.
"What's that?" Naiyan asked
Suddenly, Vendetta eyes lit up.
"Oh! Oh! I think I know what that is," She began to poke her head, trying to think," It was um... it was..."
"A Memory shard!... thing... core..." Vendetta said.
"You don't sound so sure yourself" Tech said.
"I know what that is!" Vendetta exclaimed, "It's just... I don't remember!"
"How do you even know what this is?" Tech asked.
"I used to have a friend that likes to talk about this sort of things," Vendetta answered.
"Let me guess, they're dead too?" Naiyan added
"Well yes, but probably no," Vendetta answered.
Suddenly the workshop door opened and walked in 2 people.
A Half Dragon woman and a large person.
The Half Dragon was the leader of the Humanitarians, Aryn'Val, a veteran of war. While the one with her is her most trusted friend and bodyguard. It's unknown who they were or what they are but people just call them Tower.
"Hey there boss! You look happy today," Vendetta greeted.
Aryn'Val glared at her before sighing. Tower stood by the door while she approached them.
"Anything?" She asked Tech.
"I have some parts I'm working on," He answered, "But I'm still missing a few pieces here..."
Aryn'Val nodded. Then turned to Vendetta, "I need you to do something,"
"Kill?" Vendetta smiled.
"No," Aryn'Val answered.
"Damn it!" Vendetta pouted
"I need you do some digging," Aryn'Val told her, "Go to Earth and find anything that relates to a new discovery that was found there,"
"Fine!" Vendetta walked out.
"Well then, I'm going to take a long nap," Naiyan said before leaving as well.
Aryn'Val was about to leave as well but then,
"Hey, tell me something," Tech called out.
Aryn'Val looked at him.
"What are we actually fighting for?" Tech asked.
Aryn'Val stood silent and sighed, "Every year, there is always fighting between the Hybrids,"
"The Union Council does nothing to prevent the infighting and discrimination,"
"So you will?" Tech said.
"Hope so," She muttered, "I'll leave you be now,"
Aryn'Val left, followed by Tower. Tech was left alone inside the workshop. He has doubts, yet he believes that they would do good.
The Humanitarians believed that the Hybrids are stuck in the past. Rather than trying to progress, they would rather fight to prove which Hybrid species is superior.
This was reason enough for him anyways. To unite all and prosper.
