“ Bye, Bye, Vagabond”
Act 4
(curtain opens)
Scene: Morning 8:04 a.m. Friday, November, 10th (Sebastian is fetching a carriage to go into town and visit the railroad office. He spots Theodore in the front yard and calls out to him.)
Sebastian: Need a lift?
Theodore: Yes, drop me by my office.
(Sebastian stops the carriage and Theodore gets in. Sebastian then signals the horses to start moving.)
Sebastian: Let's go.
(The carriage starts moving. Sebastian and Theodore begin their conversation.)
Sebastian: How's your day shaping up, Theodore?
Theodore: Quite busy. I have a meeting at the office this morning and then I need to visit the bank.
Sebastian: Sounds hectic. Do you need any assistance with your errands?
Theodore: Thank you, Sebastian, but I should be able to manage. I appreciate the offer though.
(They continue conversing as the carriage carries them into town.)
(Scene: The town. Sebastian stops the carriage in front of Theodore's office. Theodore gets out and greets his brother.)
Theodore:
Good day, Sebastian.
(Sebastian signals the horses to start moving and soon arrives at the railroad office. He gets out of the carriage. As Sebastian prepares to reach his office, he notices a hobo fishing off the loading dock. He walks over to the hobo.)
Sebastian:
Hey there!
Hobo:
What!
Sebastian:
You can't fish here!
Hobo:
Why not!
(Sebastian points at a sign)
Hobo: (looks at sign)
Who's smoking?
Sebastian:
It says no trespassing you idiot!
Hobo: ( swats his left hand at Sebastian)
Hmmmm... Go away!
Sebastian:
Okay, have it your way.
(Sebastian walks away and turns around and kicks the hobo off the pier into the St.James River and a splash and yelling can be heard and then Sebastian picks up the hobo's small tackle box and drops it right on the hobo's head and it knocks him out and he soon drowns and gets washed downstream.
Sebastian : ( laughing)
Take that, you filthy vagabond!
( Workers looking at Sebastian )
Sebastian:
Get back to work, there is nothing to see!
(Sebastian pulls a cigar from his left vest pocket and puts the cigar in his mouth, then pulls out a match from the same pocket and strikes the match off a board on the pier lights his cigar takes a quick puff, and then grabs his pocket watch from his right pants pocket and looks at it then turns around and walks off the pier and goes to his office and shuts the door.)
