Act 17
( Curtain opens)
Scene:
Morning. 8:30 a.m, Monday, November, 20th( In front of the Fairhaven Steamboat Company office, Many constables are around the steamboat company building, and Chief Constable Lawrence walks up to The Fairhaven Steamboat Company office door and knocks on the door. Elijah Thaddeus Worthington opens the office door.)
Elijah: (Looking surprised )
Oh, yes
Chief Constable Lawrence : (speaking sternly)
Good Morning Sir, Sorry to disturb you. The Fairhaven Constabulary Office is doing a possible murder investigation.
Elijah: (looking surprised )
Murder!, Who?
Chief Constable Lawrence : (speaking sternly)
It was Edmond Harrington, Sir
Elijah: (saddened )
My word how dreadful.
Chief Constable Lawrence: (speaking sternly )
Yes, Sir, do you mind if we have a look around?
Elijah : ( sounding a little confused)
No, not all help yourself.
Chief Constable Lawrence:
Thank you, Sir (tipping his hat)
(Chief Constable Lawrence walks away from Elijah and starts looking around the steamboat company dock with the other constables. A few hours pass and Constable Lawrence gets to the pier shed and realizes it is locked, Constable Lawrence summons another constable and asks him to retrieve Mr. Worthington. Soon the constable comes back with Mr. Worthington and not long after Constable Lawrence asks Elijah to unlock the shed door and Elijah complies. Constable Lawrence starts looking around the shed.)
Elijah: ( speaking a little nervously )
You find not much in here Constable Lawrence just ropes and things.
(Constable Lawrence looking around )
Elijah: (speaking nervously)
What are you looking for?
Chief Constable Lawrence: ( speaking sternly )
I'll know when I find it, Sir.
Elijah : (nervous)
Yes, Sir.
(Chief Constable Lawrence looks around a stack of empty burlap sacks and he sees what looks like the top of a bow he digs more into the stack of empty sacks and finds a small quiver of arrows Constable Lawrence pulls out the bow and grabs the quiver of arrows )
Chief Constable Lawrence : ( speaking sternly )
Mr. Worthington, do you recognize these items?
Elijah: (speaking nervously )
No, those aren't mine, I never saw them before, I swear.
Chief Constable Lawrence: ( speaking sternly)
Well, Mr. Worthington, this is rather damming evidence I'm afraid.
Elijah: ( speaking nervously )
I swear, I never saw them before!
Chief Constable Lawrence : (speaking sternly)
Do you mind coming down to the office Mr. Worthington?
Elijah: ( confused and scared)
Why?, I didn't do anything
Chief Constable Lawrence : ( speaking sternly)
Just come along with us, and we'll sort this all out.
(Chief Constable Lawrence escorts Elijah to the paddywagon and puts Elijah inside and locks the door. )
Chief Constable Lawrence and the constables soon leave the premises with Elijah in the paddywagon and head back to the Constabulary Office. )
(The stage darkens and the curtain closes)
