Shin Do-Sik made his way into the aircraft and immediately went to his seat which was in the business class section.
Im Sang-Jin on the other hand went straight to the lavatory to change his clothes.
Now seated and relaxed, Shin Do-Sik took time to read his messages. One was from Moon Hyun-Jin. She informed him of her coming to Seoul in two weeks from Europe while adding that she had missed him dearly.
Do-Sik smiled after reading her message.
Meanwhile Im Sang-Jin was busy galavanting through the business class section trying to locate his seat. Finally a pretty smiling air stewardess helped him locate his seat.
Sang-Jin settled down with relief just before the welcome drink was served, he opted for champagne.
Then he turned to the passenger in the adjoining seat.
"It looks like fate wants us to be together. We are seated next to each other for the flight to Seoul."
Shin Do-Sik turned to his utter astonishment to find Sang-Jin smiling sweetly at him.
"Are sure this is your seat?"
Do-Sik wanted to be sure.
"Yes, I am in the right seat."
Do-Sik did not believe him. Quickly he gestured to an air stewardess.
"Please, I think this passenger is in the wrong seat."
The air stewardess respectfully assured a disturbed Do-Sik that Sang-Jin was in the right seat.
Do-Sik looked away quietly thinking how unfair life had been treating him lately.
Some time later, Sang-Jin turned to Do-Sik and asked: "Have you got a pen?"
Do-Sik looked at Sang-Jin for a moment with a "don't talk to me" expression before saying; "No."
"I can't find my my pen...I had it a moment ago."
Sang-Jin said as he began looking frantically for the fountain pen.
Do-Sik shook his head with exasperation, Sang-Jin it seemed was both clueless and careless.
"It's on the floor."
Sang-Jin looked down and saw the fountain pen.
"Thanks."
For the next hour or so Sang-Jin spent it developing the story structure for his next novel while Do-Sik watched golf videos on his tablet.
Soon it was time for the in-flight meals to be served.
Sang-Jin turned to Do-Sik as he cut into his braised mackerel.
"I don't mean to pry in your private life, but what do you do?"
"Am a professional golfer."
"You play golf for a living?"
"Yes."
"Good for you," Sang-Jin said with a smile as he ate his bibimbap.
"And what do you do for a living?"
"I am a writer."
Sang-Jin set down his chopsticks and reached for a copy of his memoir, autographed it before handing it over to Shin Do-Sik.
"No thank you, but I don't read trash like that."
"That's all right. You don't strike me as the sort that reads trashy memoirs like mine."
After moment later he asked: "Please what's your name?"
"Shin Do-Sik."
Quickly Sang-Jin Googled it.
"I see that the golf blogs are calling you the current biggest disappointment in golf. And it looks like you have under performed in every major since turning pro."
"At least I have played in all the major tournaments," Do-Sik had to defend himself some how.
"Yes, but according to golf commentators you have had a disappointing year."
"If you you would be so kind to as do a little more research about my golf career, I am sure you will find out that I had one of the most memorable shots in the masters."
"But you haven't had a tour win in the last two years and if stays like that you are not going to become a relevant golfer."
Do-Sik could feel his cheeks heating up with anger. He knew Sang-Jin was being casually cruel because of his hash remarks about the memoir.
They ate their food in silence.
The aircraft landed in Seoul.
At Incheon International airport, sixteen year old Crystal Park was busy reading Im Sang-Jin's memoir.
She and her family were waiting to board a flight to Goa. They were traveling there for a beach holiday.
Crystal devoured the memoir with a hieghten interest. In one of the chapters, Sang-Jin talks about how he tried his possible best to get the attention of a prospective lover.
He confesses his attraction to this new love but did not name him. He rather went to restate how tall and gorgeous this new love interest is which left him dumbstruck to the point of being heart broken if this new relationship never happens.
Crystal paused her reading as her mind became flooded with curiosity about the identity of this new love interest that Sang-Jin wrote about in his memoir.
Then from the corner of her eyes, Crystal spotted Im Sang-Jin walking at a distance. He was not alone. Beside him was a tall gorgeous stranger.
Crystal could not hide her surprise nor could she believe her luck. As her entire being became flooded with excitement.
Could this man be the new prospective lover that Sang-Jin wrote about?
Then Crystal saw Sang-Jin suddenly hug the tall gorgeous stranger. And her heart jumped out of her chest with even more excitement.
This was her confirmation.
Quickly taking out her phone, snapped pictures of Sang-Jin and his secret lover. She went ahead and posted the pictures on Twitter with the appropriate hush tags.
And in no time Im Sang-Jin and Shin Do-Sik were trending on social media.
