"Mother will never forgive you."
Im Ji-Hye sat watching his brother fill three open suitcases with his things.
His bedroom was in chaos.
Clothes, sneakers, books, shopping bags and shoe boxes were strewn everywhere.
"I just don't understand why she is triggered by me moving out."
"You know mother is quite the character and she is also ruled by her feelings," Ji-Hye explained as she watched his brother fold a couple of dress shirts.
"And I know she has a temper when things do not go her way "
"Maybe you should take her with you. I am sure she will like Shin Do-Sik's penthouse just fine."
Ji-Hye teased her brother for her own amusement.
"Is this a joke to you?"
Sang-Jin shot daggers at his sister.
"Don't you just love it when mother goes into her temperamental rages?"
"She is so fixated on us and what we are doing," Sang-Jin packed his skin care products into a zip bag and placed it into one of the suitcases.
"What else did you expect? We are her life and that is why she is so fixated on what we are doing. And heaven forbid if it doesn't involve her."
"She is needy and constantly craving attention. I just cannot see her taking it well if neither of us are not by her side."
Sang-Jin dumped the contents of one the shopping bags onto his bed.
"Look, she is never going to be happy with whatever we choose to do. Unless we are doing it her way. Which is not always possible."
"Now I have to deal with Shin Do-Sik and worry about mother as well," Sang-Jin moaned.
You know what I think? I think it's fate how you met Do-Sik and now you are moving into his penthouse," Ji-Hye said dreamily.
"You make it sound so romantic than it really is."
"You two will fall madly in love."
Ji-Hye promised her brother.
"That's where you are wrong dear sweet sister. I don't plan now falling in love with Shin Do-Sik."
Im Sang-Jin finally settled into Shin Do-Sik's penthouse. And with Do-Sik not being there, Sang-Jin had all the liberty of exploring his place.
All the 5 bedrooms in the penthouse had its own dedicated terrace and outdoor space bringing in tons of outdoor light.
The master bedroom had its own exclusive private patio but Sang-Jin was banned from entering because it was Do-Sik's room.
The dining room had a magnificent chandelier hanging over a table that could seat six people at a time. And it's windows had amazing views of the city.
After touring the entire penthouse only one room remained.
The master bedroom.
Sang-Jin went and stood at the door leading into it.
Should he enter or should he not enter?
Sang-Jin puzzled over whether to obey Shin Do-Sik's decree forbidding him from entering the master bedroom.
Sang-Jin finally decided to throw caution to the wind, and let the chips fall where they may.
He was going inside.
He opened the door slowly taking a long look inside before officially entering it.
The room was large and pristine without an article out of place.
And it smelled like him too.
The signature cologne scent that he always wore hang in the air.
Sang-Jin stood looking around and realizing how carefully curated everything was.
Noticing a couple of books at his bedside table, Sang-Jin rushed over to examine them.
One was about Marcus Aurelius, poetry by E.E Cummings and The Age of Doubt by Pak Kyongni.
Putting back all three books just as he had found them, Sang-Jin went over to his display of golf trophies.
Most of them he had won as a junior golf player.
Sang-Jin picked one up and beheld it for a while before putting it back on display.
Because he was not looking as he was placing it down, the trophy fell to the floor and broke.
Sang-Jin's eyes grew wide with horror as dread came over him. He picked up the trophy helplessly trying to put it back together.
It was a futile endeavor.
Then he heard sounds of someone entering the penthouse.
This threw him into a swivet.
Sang-Jin quietly placed the broken trophy on the floor to give the impression of it falling down by itself and then he flew out of the master bedroom.
Closing the door of his bedroom, Sang-Jin listened for updates.
A moment went by and then he heard Shin Do-Sik roar....
"Im Sang-Jin!"
