Kataya had been laying down on the ground. Struggling to breathe. The only thing capable of exiting his mouth was slight groans.
He couldn't feel either of his legs, nor his arms. He could barely feel the air exiting through his lungs.
Something. Anything. He kept thinking to himself. What is the reason for me going into the spark hole?
He had been laying there for a while.
There has to be something, anything. I cannot leave my grandfather alone with that creature. But in his mind, he also thought his own beliefs were flawed. He thought he would die there on the pavement.
"I got the call kid. Who are you? Ah, you seem to be unable to speak there. Come on, get up." The man knelt down besides him and helped pull him up.
"That's a.. lot of bleeding there kid. Don't tell me you were here during the call. I can't... I don't know if I can help you."
"...The.. Old man's my.. Grandfather." Kataya said.
"Your grandfather? Really? If you can get out any more of what happened, I might be able to help you."
"Amazing. So you were sucked into a spark hole despite not having an extra soul? Absolutely remarkable. You've seen enough based on your story that I don't feel like there is any issue with helping you. Just, gently roll on your stomach."
After Kataya rolled onto his stomach, the man pulled out a bronze-colored phone with a way bigger lens than most phones.
"This device is categorized as a soul jammer. In the simplest way possible to explain it, a human being cannot allow their extra soul to leave their body naturally, unless their soul is so strong to the point their body cannot contain it. These soul jammers force any extra souls to leave the body, allowing the user to be able to user their soul abilities at will."
The man knelt down over Kataya once more and placed the soul jammer on top of Kataya's heart, before the man slowly breaths in, slowly.
"My name is Yokuviel by the way." He said as he applied a quick force of pressure directly towards Kataya's heart.
When an extra soul comes out of the body, it usually comes out in a wild flash of multiple colors, so many colors to the point you could guess it had every color imaginable. But, however, Kataya was a rare case.
His extra soul had already been tamed to a fine red color. But among his soul, there laid another color. Red coming out of one hand.
Black coming out of the other.
"How is it... So perfectly colored? Not even some of the strongest Ethers I know have a perfectly colored soul. Among the facts you have a black soul as well, which is impossible."
The red came out in a perfectly fine red, and black was perfectly black. Souls and spirits when expressed in physical form have a very large difference. When a soul is shown in physical form, imagine looking at a bunch of red colored dots, all circulating around his right hand. However whenever a Ethered, which is a spirit, uses their spirit abilities, it is a pure black color, smooth as silk. No dots, just visually a solid black aura.
"Your body is still moving, so you didn't remove your spirit from your body. You..."
"Your body somehow has two souls and two spirits. No wonder we couldn't see your extra soul, because it's not an extra, as it also has its own spirit pair."
Yokuviel stood up quickly and backed away a few paces to get a good look at this phenomenon.
"Alright kid. You're still injured, but we have now awakened you. You can now apparently use both soul and spiritual abilities. No other Ether in all of history has ever been able to do such a thing, and was thought near impossible with our knowledge."
"If you want to fix yourself up and go help your old man, you'll have to learn an ability known as Universal Connection. Simply, it creates a link with you and yourself from the other universe, allowing you to sap strength from your godly counterpart, allowing you to heal near any injury, including limb loss. However, the loss of a limb, while can be healed, takes almost full days for some Ethers. For you, I'd say you could fully heal yourself within 10 minutes."
"Thank you Mister Yokuviel. I'll be heading off to where my Grandfather was sent flying."
"You're welcome. Just a warning: If everything ever gets too chaotic, interference with civilians, the cops, you have something special. Your soul and your spirit. During battle against Ethered, one of the common techniques Ethers use is to attack an Ethered when they use their spirit abilities."
Yokuviel continues, "Whenever spirit abilities and soul abilities connect, they create a spark rift that teleports you directly to the closest person with multiple souls, and since I'm the only Ether in the city as of now, you'll go straight to me, so whenever your in a bind, just expel both of your abilities at once, causing your spirit and soul abilities to connect."
"Alright, thank you sir."
"My god. Kid... Who are you?" The cop asked. Kataya quickly knelt down and held is grandfathers hand.
"Kid, keep your hands off him..."
"Spark: Expel."
As he spoke, both of his hands fired soul and spiritual energy, and as those collided, bystanders were left frozen in shock, when both the boy and the old man seemingly disintegrated.
What Kataya experienced was the feeling of moving in between the walls of every universe.
"You've arrived. I assume.."
"Cops were trying to get my name."
"Your grandfather?"
Kataya slowly pointed to the ground as he knelt down.
"Dead." He says as he places his finger on his old man's neck.
"What about the spirit your old man was fighting? Did he manage to kill it?" Yokuviel asked.
"He did. I watched as it fell to the ground with my grandfather. I caught my grandfather and slid down the side of the building and when I landed, the people on the ground immediately started questioning me."
"Are you okay?" Yokuviel asked.
"I know he died in pain physically. But I believe he died happy that his life ended saving mine."
"You sure kid?"
"I hope I'm sure. But whatever these Ethered are. Their existence caused the death of my grandfather. So I refuse to not follow his path."
"So you want to become?"
"I have to become an Ether." Kataya says.
"Alright then kid. I never did learn your name. What is it?"
"Kataya."
"Kataya, if you want to become like your father, you might possibly be the perfect person to become like him. You have a direct passage to Ether HQ."
Yokuviel continues, "Your extra soul and spirit. In order to get to the Ether HQ, you have to always have a spirit on hand. Mine is this." Yokuviel slowly pulls out a small cage with a mosquito.
"This, Kataya, is called an animal spirit. animal spirits cause no harm, and whenever an animal dies, their spirit never goes to heaven, so animals roam the lands. You may have noticed that every time you release your abilities, you can visually see Ethered."
"I believe that since you were born with two souls and two spirits, you were always unable to see spirits. But now that you can remove your extra spirits and souls, I bet you can see Ethered now. Am I right?"
"Yes you are."
"So normal Ethers have to have spirits to go to the HQ so that they can combine spiritual and soul energy. But you however, have spiritual and soul energy. The only thing is you have to use near no soul and spiritual energy. That's why Ethers use small animals, like mosquitoes."
"Hold on, so how does that work? Why am I not just teleported in that case like usual?" Kataya asked.
"Simple. The owner of the HQ made it inside of his eternal Universal Spark Plug, or another name for it being Spark Hole. His ability is the power to create a Spark hole that can never ever end, along with other aspects. However when he uses it as his HQ, he specifically turns off all other aspects so it can be used as an HQ."
"And one of the conditions of the HQ, is that if a small amount of soul energy and a small amount of spiritual energy are combined, whoever owns the soul energy combined is teleported into the Spark Hole."
"He must be a smart man, utilizing his spark hole like that. Wait, if that's possible, why didn't my grandfather just teleport to the HQ as quickly as he could?" Kataya asked as he pulled a small ladybug spirit from his grandfathers pocket.
"First of all, he has zero arms to grab the ladybug spirit. Second, if he had run, it would have let the creature run rampant. And finally third, if you try to combine soul and spiritual energy with another ethered around, their spiritual energy will affect the combination and you usually wont be teleported."
"So many questions Kataya, but lets end them there. We need to get going." Yokuviel says, as he grabs Kataya's shoulder and holds up his mosquito.
"Spark: Expel."
The palm of his hand holding the mosquito had a small flicker of soul energy spill out, and as they combined, Kataya again felt like he was being sent and squished throughout the walls of every universes border.
Kataya starts feeling like he's falling again before, unlike last time, he stops himself midair.
"You seem to already understand the concept of soul and spiritual energy allowing the body to suspend in midair. Part of the pro of being able to utilize a power that has seemingly no weight." Yokuviel says.
"I assume we are here?" Kataya asks.
"Yes. Slowly lower yourself down to the floor." As they both landed on the ground, they were immediately introduced by a lady with with dirty blond, straight hair, wearing biker clothing configured to look more like a suit, with brown, fake leather boots.
"This is Kadia!" Yokuviel.
"Who's this Yokuviel? A new recruit?" Kadia asks.
"Something like that." He responds.
This was around when Kataya started paying more attention. He had gone through so much, he forgot so much. This was the first time he had gotten a full look at Yokuviel without being in great pain or grief. Yokuviel had nice, frizzy white hair. He looked around 30, and he was wearing a pale suit with a red undershirt, and had black dress shoes on, along with nice, black tinted glasses that rested on top of his head.
"Where's Lugen?" Yokuviel asked.
"He's up on the mountain. I'd wait before talking to him about a new recruit. When he got your news that Sataya died, he went up to the mountain to meditate." Kadia says.
Sataya... That's my grandfather. Kataya thought to himself.
"Alright then. For now, before you meet Lugen, I'll just have you stay in the guest room before he shows back up in the Galram."
The Galram. The building before Kataya was a modern american home, except the final floor extended into multiple hallways, all on the outside made using bricks, and all these hallways leading to circular glass domes.
"Alright Kataya, this is the guest room. You may end up living within HQ, depending on your wishes, however, for now, you will temporarily stay here until Lugen gets back from the mountain."
"Is Lugen the owner of this Spark hole?"
"Yes. He is an older fellow like your old man, however, younger by about 10-15 years. Your old man was about 67, so you can imagine the age of Lugen."
"Thank you for giving me the guest room Yokuviel." Kataya says.
"Thank Lugen when you meet him."
"Will do."
