"What?" Molly asked, when she felt the tap on her shoulder.
"What are you listening to?" a timid male voice asked.
Molly pulled one earbud out of her ear and disentangled it from her bright red hair she dyed not even a week ago. "Why do you care?" she asked.
The boy stuttered out what was probably supposed to be a reply. "N-no r-r-reas-son, I-I was jus-st...wondering..."
Molly blinked. "Are you having some anxiety, or something?" she asked so quietly the people around them wouldn't hear.
The boy nodded rapidly. "I-I th-thought that you...w-were s-someone e-else...I'm s-sorry for bothering you..."
Molly shook her head. "Nothing to be sorry for. I come to the park to get away from my anxiety. Please, sit down." The boy did. "I'm Molly."
"M-Micheal," he stuttered.
Molly studied him. Brown hair, blue eyes, nothing really special about him. Just another guy overwhelmed by the world. "Want to listen?" she offered the other earbud to him.
He took it and smiled when he heard it. "You like Fall Out Boy?"
Molly shrugged. "Every once in a while, yeah."
Micheal grinned. "If you like them, I know another band you might like. Uh, may I?"
"Go ahead," Molly replied, handing him her phone.
Micheal went into YouTube and did a quick search before apparently finding what he was looking for. "It's called 'Demons' by Imagine Dragons," Micheal explained.
The music trailed its way into Molly's ears and she smiled. "Nice," was all she said.
Micheal grinned. "Yeah, I've loved them for years--" he started.
Molly put a hand over his mouth. "Shh. Talk later. Listen now," she instructed. He complied.
When the song ended Molly turned to Micheal and grinned. "Could I have your phone number? I have a feeling you could be good for helping me find new bands, and you can text me any time you feel overwhelmed."
Micheal nodded. "Sure. Wh-where do you live, if you don't mind my asking?"
"Oh, just down Yule Way."
"I live just off the street from you!"
"Really? That's so weird...!"
Friendship comes from many routes and directions, but sometimes the strongest ones come from the simplest words.
"Nice."
