“Remembering Genevieve”
Act 8
(Curtain opens)
Scene:
Night, 8:30 PM Saturday, November 11th Percival's Bedroom
(Percival is sitting on the edge of the bed with a book in hand, getting ready to read, and shadow from the light of the fire is cast upon the dark wall and it kind of reminds Percival of Genevieve dancing and Percival stares out the window at the full moon and speaks to himself about Genevieve. )
(The stage darkens and a spotlight is on Percival. )
Percival :
In the world of distant wonder and refinement,
Our souls became one.
You're a gentle breeze among the wildflowers,
Bringing with you a season of grace.
Able to escape time and space.
With a troubled heart, I approached,
Shy and meek my constant companion.
Yet the lights of summer morning dew are dim, in comparison to you. The stars of night guide your path to my mind and make a home in my heart.
Not a moment rest I find
There is no other like your kind.
My words can write poetry, but your presents can make wishes come true my fine beauty.
One swipe of the reaper's scythe my fear was dead.
As it seemed to hold me captive for years without rest
I am now free to pursue my passion, my dear.
Under the breath of the moonlit night
I can see your light between the posts of the gazebo.
To my princess, my bride I invite you to dine.
From that day you were mine to cast our footprint on the past behind.
The future is ours to behold
Now I sit in darkness, A solitary flame,
Now alone, every season is the same.
As I close my eyes, your life is now a mere grave.
Your memory is still alive as if it never left.
My heart is a hollow shell
My existence is nothing but pure hell.
Without you to quench the flames of loneliness
I can't tell the difference between life and death
Our fairytale book has its pages torn
I say good night my love, as I close my eyes once more.
As I see you I'm my dreams it will seem you never left me. I bid you goodnight my sweet.
(Percival lays his head on the pillow and falls asleep. )
( Curtain closes)
