They all heard it, the screeches of the abominations filled the cavern of ice. The Aura of dread started to fill up the air. The only light source was from the control console and some small lights located around.
Suddenly the ground shook, he stumbled a few feet back.
"Did I do it?!" Sparrow asked himself nervously.
After a few seconds, the shaking stopped.
"I should get out of here now!" He thought loudly in his head.
But then and infested came out of nowhere. However he was fast enough to draw his firearm and started shooting.
It died after a few hits, only mere inches away from getting him.
"Ha!" He shouted proudly, "Can't jump me, you uglies!"
Then, he could the growling of an entire horde nearby, he gulped.
He started running as fast as he could to the exit, he climbed out of the hatch that he used to get in the first place.
As soon as he got out, a few chased him out as well. He shot a few down before running out of ammom.
The last one of the beasts lunged at him, Sparrow used his arm to prevent the beast for biting his face off. He could feel the jaws of the beasts chewing through his arm and breaking the bone underneath.
A let out a loud agonizing scream before the beast was shot dead in front of him.
"Sparrow!" Alysia gasped, a gun in her hand, "Are you okay!?"
"I'm fine!" Sparrow forced himself to get, ignoring the pain, "Where are the others?!"
"They're not back yet!" Alysia answered.
"Damn it!" He sighed, "Alright let's just-"
Suddenly, a few of the infested beasts burst out from the ice. They charged at them with ravenous hunger.
"Watch out!" Alysia pushed him aside and started firing.
Even with an heavily injured arm, Sparrow did what he could to fend of the Infestation.
They were doing as best as they could holding off the Infestation, but then Sparrow noticed Alysia zoning off.
"Alysia!" He shouted, "Snap out of it!"
Alysia didn't respond, she just started to sway until she fell onto her knees.
Sparrow killed the nearest Infestations before going to Alysia.
"Hey! What's wrong with you??" Sparrow shouted, "This is not a good time!"
Alysia was holding her head tightly, then she screamed out loud.
Just then Kel'Zal arrived with the sword that can scare off infestation, she killed some before throwing a grenade she found at them.
"Move!" She told Sparrow as she lifted up Alysia
The two ran with Kel'Zal carrying Alysia. When the grenade exploded part of the cavern caved in, luckily they were far enough for them to not get buried under ice.
They went past Xel'Ryah who was standing close to Vulcan.
"What the hell happened?!" Xel'Ryah shouted
"Not time to explain get to the storage!!" Kel'Zal continued running, then Xel'Ryah and Vulcan followed suit.
When they reached the storage, Kel'Zal immediately closed the metal doors shut.
This allowed them to take a moment to take a breath.
"How's Alysia doing?" Sparrow asked.
"Out cold, breathing heavily" Kel'Zal answered, she turned to look at him, "Now, what the hell did you do this time??"
"How should I know that the power core was the heart of the hive!"
"Hey stop arguing!" Xel'Ryah intervened, "We need to get out of this situation first!"
"How though?!" Kel'Zal said, "Alysia is out cold, Sparrow can barely walk, let alone shoot!"
"We will just have to do this on our own then!" Xel'Ryah said, "Vulcan, how long does it take to reload the Orbital Cannon?"
"The time it would take would be around 10 minutes," Vulcan answered.
"We would be dead before we could reload that damn thing!" Kel'Zal exclaimed.
"I'll take my chances," Xel'Ryah said.
"I hate you sometimes, " Kel'Zal sighed, "I'll see you in the after life then,"
"One small problem," Vulcan said, "You will need to manually fire the Orbital Cannon,"
"You didn't bother mentioning this earlier?" Kel'Zal said.
Suddenly the ground shook slightly.
"We don't have much time, come on" Sparrow said as he got up.
"But your arm," Xel'Ryah said with concern, "You can do much with all the pain your going through right now,"
"It's fine!" Sparrow said sternly, "As long as I can hold a gun and press a button, I'm fine, "
There was moment of silence between the group before everyone eventually agreed. The missile was already on the cart but they left it inside when they heard all the ruckus happening.
The plan was to load the missile into the Cannon and Sparrow would find a way to fire it.
They were ready for what's to come next.
When the metal doors opened, Kel'Zal was the first to leave, the infested waiting for the outside.
With the burning blade on her hands, she cut down and burned a large amount of the infestation. This allowed somewhat of a safe passage through the horde, with Sparrow and Xel'Ryah pushing the cart and Vulcan also following them to give guidance.
In order to prevent more from bursting forth, Kel'Zal used some of the grenades to cave in some areas. This was risky as this might make the cavern collapse but what other choice did they have?
"Come! we must us the operator controls to open the reload hatch!" Vulcan said.
"What about you, can you reload this thing on your own?" Sparrow asked.
"Don't worry, I have gorilla strength!" Xel'Ryah responded, this made Sparrow chuckle.
"Please, please, please, please, please, move your legs!!" Kel'Zal shouted.
Vulcan led Sparrow around the base of the Orbital Cannon, leading him up a few ladders where there is a small booth with the operator controls inside.
Quickly, they went in and jammed the door shut.
"Alright what now?!" Sparrow said, almost panicking.
"Pull the red lever to open the reloading hatch!" Vulcan answered, and so Sparrow exactly what he said.
Outside of the base, Xel'Ryah helped Kel'Zal fend off the Infestation. When the side of the Orbital Cannon opened, she quickly went to load the missile in.
It took her awhile but she managed to push the missile into the loading mechanism.
Inside the operator control booth, a small light lit up on the control panels.
"Ah good this means it's loaded," Sparrow thought
He went up to the side of the booth where there was a window that looked to the side of the Orbital Cannon.
Sparrow saw as both Kel'Zal and Xel'Ryah retreating back to the storage room. Before the doors closed, Sparrow saw Xel'Ryah nod her head at him.
It was time.
He took a deep breath and then pressed the button.
There was no sound but the force of the recoil pushed him down to the floor.
The Orbital Cannon shot out a bright light that burst forth from the frozen surface like a shooting star. The cavern caved in immediately, and made some of the tunnels that spanned miles also collapsed underneath.
The light flew across the sky and into space beyond. Even then it continued flying through, a small glint in the skies of other planets. Making a trail that reached all across the Solar System.
Hours have passed, They were buried underneath a mountain of snow and ice.
Xel'Ryah and Kel'Zal tended to Alysia and made sure to keep warm.
But then a bang on the door, it was blocked off so no one could enter without forcefully barging in.
The banging continued, Kel'Zal slowly stood up, weak and exhausted, but still held her sword up high.
"Pizza delivery!" A familiar voice shouted from outside.
A sighof relief came out of Xel'Ryah's mouth.
Kel'Zal opened the door and outside was a whole platoon of Newcastle Agents, led by none other than Castle.
"Sorry we're late," Castle smiled, "I got hungry so I went to get some food,"
Kel'Zal laughed, "I hate you all so much!"
Then Xel'Ryah realized something, "Sparrow! did you find him?"
"Surprisingly yes, even more is that he's still alive and breathing," Castle answered, "Now come on, I got some parkas over there,"
The 3 was helped out by the Newcastle Agents. The climbed out of the crater of snow and went to a nearby encampment.
There they found Sparrow who was annoying everyone with his tale of 'Chivalry and Sacrifice' even though he was still alive. Vulcan was just floating nearby, being studied by some other Newcastle Researchers.
Xel'Ryah wen to lay down on a bed, and eventually fell asleep.
With all that happened today, it seems that all is well that ends well. Oh wait...

Well that was my first (Well at least my first COMPLETED) story so far and I enjoyed it somewhat. Hope you enjoyed it too, will continue this story eventually. But now I want to sleep.
