Soul stood quietly on the balcony fidgeting with the necklace in his hands, it was on a thin silver chain a Netherite shard hanging from it. He yawned and looked around at the sand covered biome, the esempe was different from anything he’d seen before…well from what he can remember from the snippets he saw.
Even when he saw those visions he still forgot snippets of them…
Something wasn't right, he knew it. And he knew his goddess knew as well.
Everything’s fine, Soul.
“You're lying…” he mumbled, the goddess sighed.
you are an intelligent boy i’ll give you that…
“What's happening” he questioned, it went silent before she replied.
You remember how Ren made that contract with me, yes? How he sold me your memories in trade for me replacing them with me?
Soul nodded.
Well…when we made that pact between you and i…the pact where you give me your body and you get my emotions, sort of put it out of balance.
“What does that mean?”
It means that there's a hole somewhere in the pact between Ren and I, somehow our pact tore it just a little bit…so your old memories are slipping back but through flashes, and since you’re technically not allowed to have them you forget them easily.
Soul shuddered at the thought.
“What do I do then?” he questioned, His body stiffened before relaxing.
She was getting ready to take control again…
Well…i’ll figure that out. But for now, you need to know that anything that happens while i'm in charge you won't remember…do i make myself clear? It's for your safety.
Soul nodded before things went dark and then focused back in, he was back to being stuck in his subconscious…alone.
Muffled footsteps slipped past his thoughts as he looked around, “Soul?” he turned to see Quackity blink at him in confusion.
“How did you get up here?” he questioned, Soul glanced at the balcony.
“I dont…i dont remember…” he lied, Quackity sighed and pushed open a door that led to a massive office.
“Oh well, speaking of you not remembering i need to ask you a couple of things”
“Okay..?”
Soul entered the office a small look of astonishment crossed his features as his body shivered.
You answer them…I'll take you back after you’re done.
Soul frowned and glanced at the floor, ‘actually…can i stay at least for a couple days?’ he thought, the goddess chuckled.
Sure
As Soul sat in the chair in front of the desk Quackity now sat at, Quackity fumbled around with some papers before finding a poker coin. He fidgeted with it. He was nervous…why?
“Okay, now, I know you got pushed off a cliff by Dream, yes?”
Soul flinched at the name.
Dream. He wanted to forget it.
“Y-yeah…”
Quackity nodded “but…from what he said in jail you’re prone to seizures…?” He said, Soul frowned.
Jail? Good.
“I…i guess.” Quackity’s eyebrow cocked up a little at the sudden softness of Soul’s voice.
“Well, that's gonna be a problem…i can't have you dying on me..” he mumbled, Soul’s ears twitched.
“Sorry?”
“Nothing.”
It was silent for a moment and Soul looked around at the room, taking in the large cases of books and treasures.
“So do you have trouble remembering anything?”
Soul met eyes with Quackity and he scratched his neck nervously.
“A little bit…”
Quackity nodded, “I think I might know how to help with that” Soul’s eyes lit up.
“You do?”
Quackity nodded.
“I know someone back in Pogtopia that may be able to help. I think he moved to Snowchester, but he has similar issues…so he should be able to help with your memory issue as well. We can leave in a couple of days if you’d like?” He asked, Soul nodded with a small smile.
Maybe Dream was right, he does act like a puppy…but what he witnessed last night was not the act of a puppy…was he being controlled?
Soul’s frown left just as quickly as his smile appeared, Pogtopia…that huge city near the water…he couldn't even last a couple of minutes last time he was there…maybe he could now?
Quackity spun in his chair and glanced back at Soul.
"So uh… Is there anything you wanna do around here before we leave for Pogtopia and Snowchester? We might stay a while since Ranboo gets a little busy," he explained.
Soul thought and bit his lip as he thought "do you have any Lily's here?" He questioned, Quackity's eyebrows raised.
"Like Valley Lily's?"
Soul nodded, Quackity stood and pulled a small compass from a desk drawer.
"Sure, we can walk to find some now if you'd like" he suggested, Soul smiled and nodded following him out the office.
It was peaceful as they walked, Soul had left his shoes back at the mansion and he smiled as his feet brushed against the sand, a familiar feeling causing his skin to tingle.
“I haven't really looked for lilies in a while…it's not normally someone's favorite flower” Quackity chuckled, Soul cocked an eyebrow.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean…they're rare…they popped up not too long ago but you don't see them often so it's not usually someone's favorite. Normally people go for orchids, roses, sunflowers, anything that isn't a lily” He explained,Soul kicked sand gently.
“I didn't know they were rare…i just assumed they were everywhere…” he said quietly, Quackity glanced back at him, his suspenders hung gently and blew against his legs as a gentle breeze ruffled past them.
Soul met Quackity’s eyes after pushing a strand of hair behind a pointy ear unsuccessfully.
“You really aren’t from around here are you?”
Soul shook his head.
“You thought I was?”
Quackity shrugged, “I assumed you were an inhabitant of L’manberg.” he said, eyeing his compass as they continued to walk.
Soul chuckled lightly.
“Im from a different realm actually”
Quackity stopped in their tracks just as they reached the edge of the desert, miles from Las Nevadas and inches away from a mountain biome.
This Esempe sure was something else…
“A different realm? I wasn't aware there was different realms”
Soul shrugged “i mean…i don't remember much…just snippets- tiny snippets, i remember being surrounded by two friends. I named the lily with them, after a flower from my home realm…” he trailed off remembering the episode where he learned he hated himself in a different time.
“Huh…thats-”
“Freaky?”
“Unique…” Quackity mumbled, Soul’s eyes flickered to a deer that stopped to inspect them before bounding off into the woods that met the edge of the mountains.
“Well, this way” Quackity said breaking the ear ringing silence, Soul nodded and followed him quietly.
“So, do you know magic?”
Soul blinked “magic?” he cocked his head, Quackity nodded not removing his eyes from the compass as they walked over hills of stone.
“I mean…I guess? My goddess told me i have to relearn it though…” he said, Quackity pocketed the compass as they neared a large rock structure.
“Goddess?”
Soul nodded.
“She talks to me sometimes…” he said, Quackity frowned.
“I'm lost…”
“Sorry…i'm not allowed to say much”
Quackity shrugged and climbed part of the rock before lending a hand to Soul.
Soul hesitated but took it, Quackity pulled him up and they stopped at a small cliff over a valley.
“This is beautiful…”
Quackity smiled to himself, “I used to come up when I needed space…after the incident i was very stable. Constant gambling, getting drunk…just like my ex- the one person I promised myself not to turn into…the grief just took hold, but I found stability here…and there's plenty of lilies here too…” he said quietly, his stoic facade suddenly gone.
“I don't mean to pry, but do you mean by grief?”
Quackity sighed “you’ll find out soon enough…i don't normally like to talk about it” He said, Soul nodded a rock falling from where his foot was on the cliff.
Quackity’s eyebrows furrowed.
“Where are your shoes? You're gonna hurt yourself”
Soul chuckled “I don't know…shoes just seem unappealing to me” he said, Quackity rolled his eyes and pulled him to a small rickety stone staircase that led to the valley, Soul stumbled after him as they ran down the stairs.
He froze on the last step and Quackity looked back at him “you okay?”
Soul looked up at the view and gasped, his eyes going white, his body going limp.
“Oh my god-” Quackity grabbed soul and pulled him close, holding him gently as Soul convulsed, his mouth foaming up.
“SOUL.”
“Alex~” A voice practically sang, Soul looked around as they stood in a gentle breeze. A valley, surrounded by gorgeous flowers and masses of lilies.
Alex looked up to see an older but gorgeous woman standing, a basket in hand as she held her hat onto her Blonde hair.
She smiled towards him “ready to go?”
Alex chuckled and ran towards her “your home!”
She laughed and dropped the basket pulling him into a hug.
“Of course, silly”
When he pulled away she giggled and handed him a lily, “i brought one from Yttria, i know you love them” she said, he smiled and took the flower.
Moments after, blood streaked past and the woman vanished. Alex stood there staring at the ground, his eyes wide in horror, the lily dropped from his hand splattered in blood.
That's when Soul noticed.
The woman didn't vanish…she was laying below him at his feet, blood dripping from her stomach.
Her intestines hanging out, Alex’s breath quivered and he fell to his knees.
“m-mom…MOM!”

Soul gasped, his eyes snapping open and he shoved away from Quackity.
“You okay dude?”
Soul heaved his hands on his knees as he gasped for air desperately.
“I…i can't do this…” he said, tears threatening his eyes.
Quackity reached for him, but Soul slapped his hand away “please don't…” he whimpered, Quackity eyed the horns that were very clearly there.
“Your horns…”
“I KNOW.”
Quackity flinched.
“S-sorry…” Soul quivered as his knees hit the ground, his legs weak. He gasped for air and Quackity stood awkwardly as Soul gathered himself, his breathing slowed and his horns faded and soon it was silent.
“Sorry…” Soul apologized, Quackity frowned and dropped to his knees hugging Soul tightly.
“Don’t apologize…you can’t control it…”
Soul buried his face in Quackity’s shoulders as he held back muffled sobs.
No you can’t switch back with me.86Please respect copyright.PENANA4OQJZRAE7N

“This might hurt” he whispered before hitting Soul with the hilt of his pickaxe, Soul gasped and fell knocked out into the lush grass.86Please respect copyright.PENANANfUSBAQFfF
