Chapter 12
The Great Church
"Wow this place is huge, where do we even start?" Silver said as the group traveled across a small conveyer belt leading deeper into the city. It seemed it was some regulation just as guards stood on each side of the conveyor belts.
Silver looked around and noted that there weren't a lot of people coming in or out of the large city. Perhaps they were about to shut down the ports leading in and out of the city.
They conveyor belt finally stopped as they were in the heart of the city. Right in front of them was a towering cathedral as Tempo pointed forward. "Welcome to Qine! The most advanced city in the entire world!"
"Well this is pretty impressive, I'm surprised such a religious city has this kind of technology," Zoki stated as Tempo tilted her head.
"Huh, why?"
"Oh no reason, I just know a lot of religions that are pretty violent," Zoki replied as Tempo frowned before nodding her head.
"Yeah, I can understand that the Descijan interpretation of Iacia will is pretty traditional, they don't even believe letting Beastkin into their walls," Tempo pointed out as Silver tapped her lip.
"I guess every major country interpreted Iacia's will differently huh?" Silver asked as Tempo nodded.
"If you all would like to learn more I can give you the Qine version of her scriptures," Tempo stated as they made their way towards the cathedral as Shan clapped her hands getting everyone's attention.
"As much fun as this has been, I must be on my way now; I have important work that must be done in this city..." Shan broke off from the group as Silver glared at her sister.
"What, going to vanish again, Shan?"
Shan chuckled before brushing her hair to the side, "you know me, always on the move...you can keep the ship," with those words Shan vanished into the crowd of people in the street.
Silver wasn't even surprised at that point; it was to be expected from her older sister as the trio walked up to the front gates as a couple of guards scanned the four. Tempo then dug into her dress pocket before flashing what appeared to be an odd medal before the guards nodded allowing them inside.
Inside the cathedral was stained glass windows with pictures of a woman in a silk dress on her. Silver only assumed that it was the goddess. The group then scanned their surroundings noticing a large sum of priest in robes.
"Huh, there are even some other Beastkin here..." Zoki pointed out as Tempo nodded.
"Yeah...it's rare, but some Beastkin do come here to study and learn, that doesn't matter right now, " Tempo pointed towards a small stairway leading downward, they all followed Tempo as they were lead into a room with a large glyph on the floor.
"Um this is nice and all but where do we go now?" Silver asked as Katto placed his hand on the floor.
"We obviously use this Glyph to go down," Katto stated as Tempo only shook her head.
"We just keep walking, don't you guys see the doors in front of us?" Tempo had a sarcastic tone to her voice as she took out the medal once again and pressed it against the giant stone doors. They slowly opened, revealing more stairs.
"So we are going to have to take the stairs?" Silver sighed.
"Don't worry, it won't take long, and we need to speak to Camellia," Tempo said as Zoki cocked her brow.
"Camellia?"
"She's one of the Six Warriors along with me, Link and Brags; she's nice...though she can be a bit of a know it all," Tempo finished her statement as they descended. The lovely white and gold stone slowly turned into a harsh black as all light slowly faded from their vision.
After descending for what felt like an eternity before they finally arrived at another set of doors. Tempo opened it with her medal once again before entering a large open space.
"Woah..." Silver's eyes widened as she was greeted to what appeared to be a miniature village under the city. There was three floors and rooms lined each row as Tempo grinned like a child.
"This is the Church Knights headquarters; it also acts as housing for those who do not have a home or can not afford one. It also allows us to practice in the square down there," Tempo pointed downward as a group of knights clashed their swords against what appeared to be practice dummies.
"Huh, this place is pretty big..." Katto mentioned off hand as Tempo guided them through the building before finally stopping at what appeared to be a large room. There was a name plaster on it as Tempo knocked softly as if she was a child trying not to wake her parent.
"You may come in..." the voice sounded like someone who had been working for three days straight without rest as the group entered the room.
There sat a woman long blonde hair and blue eyes. She was wearing a white and black uniform that seemed to be made for combat as she rubbed her temple looking over a lot of papers. At her side was a short sword with a jewel embedded into the hilt with a small buckler next to it. She appeared to be in her late teens or early twenties as she spoke not lifting her head from her papers.
"I apologize if I come off as a bit tense, but..." the woman was still looking at her papers as Tempo coughed slightly before her gaze slowly shifted to the group that as standing before her.
"Oh, Tempo! You've return!" the woman gave a great big smile as Tempo took a step back.
"Y-you recognize me in this state?"
"Of course, I do, Link and Brags just returned recently, they gave us a full detailed report on what had happened with Parce, Sara and the girl pretending to be you..." The blonde woman stood up before staring at Silver and Zoki.
"I assume you two are the ones I should thank for looking after Tempo; you have my gratitude… for such a feet, I am Camellia by the way,"
Both Silver and Zoki blushed as Katto took a step forward.
"As much fun as this is, we have information concerning the destruction of Minfor,"
The moment that was brought up Camellia's eyes narrowed. "Thought as much, there was still a large sum of soldiers in the area when it was destroyed. It appears that the weapon that Descijan had created so long ago has reactivated, I do not understand why such an act of aggression was taken against us, but I cannot allow the loss of thousands of people to be taken so slightly. We are currently moving to take military action against Descijan,"
"That's the thing," Zoki interrupted. "We have been lead to believe that it wasn't Descijan to make the strike, it appears that a third party may have activated the weapon to cause a war...for what reason we do not know, but..." Zoki eyes shifted to Tempo as Camellia nodded.
It seemed whatever needed to be said couldn't be said in front of Tempo.
"Tempo, your monsters returned here after you went missing, why don't you go to the pen and greet them. I am positive they will be happy to see you," Camellia's voice was soft as Tempo's ears perked right up.
"Really!" without saying a word Tempo ran out of the room as Zoki gave a heavy sigh.
"This is about Parce isn't?" Camellia asked as Zoki nodded.
"Yes, we have been led to believe that he is currently working with the person that used the weapon to destroy Minfor," Zoki pointed out as Katto stepped forward.
"Not only that, but we also have proof that he hired an assassin to kill Master Bib," Katto left out the part where he was the hired killer as Camellia sighed.
"These are some pretty significant accusations, but I wouldn't put it past him..." Camellia glanced over to her sword. "A lot of people do not know this, but Parce always wanted the world to be united under one idea, still...I do find it hard to believe that he would do such a thing," Camellia frowned for a moment.
"That is why we are here," Silver finally speaking up, "we want to know if it would be possible to halt military action against Descijan? If you ended up fighting them, even more people would end up dying..."
Camellia bit her thumb, "I am sorry, but I don't have the authorization to do such a thing. Despite how it appears I do not have any more sway than Tempo, even if I handle most of the paperwork and military planning I don't have the authority to stop this. The only one that does is Master Bib, and he is currently out,"
"Damn it! We came all the way here for nothing," Silver grumbled as Camellia tapped her lip.
"Hmm, not so...have you heard of the city of Zares, it is a city nearby that does research and development for Qine. There have been recent sightings of Parce there if you would go and investigate those rumors with Link and Tempo then I may be able to relay that information back to Master Bib and halt current military operation,"
"Huh, Link's here?"
Camellia nodded, "yes he is after he returned we decided to let him have a break...if you have met him then you must know that he has a connection to Parce correct?"
Silver eye twitched. She just thought it was a coincidence that they sounded similar and were around the same height.654Please respect copyright.PENANAWbwgmquuNx
"Parce and Link are twins, they are the sons of the previous Grand Priestess; I shall call Link in ri-"
There was a sudden rumble was felt throughout the entire building as Camellia's eye twitched. Before anyone else could do anything one of the guards came storming into the room.
"Lady Camellia, the cathedral is currently under attack!"
"W-what?" Camellia eye twitched as she jumped from her seat. "By who?"
"That's the thing; they aren't wearing any armor from any country we know. They are liked hollowed out winged knights; they haven't breached the headquarters, but they are current causing havoc in the city,"
Camellia grumbled as Silver, Zoki and Katto all glanced at one another.
The blonde haired woman quickly grabbed her sword as the blade extended ever so slightly before grabbing her shield. "I am sorry to ask this of you, but I expect you are competent combatants, would it be possible to help us defend the city?"654Please respect copyright.PENANAQNrODWjwSM
Silver just laughed, "no prob. We were probably going to do that anyway; we will find Tempo right quick too,"
"I thank you..." those were the last words Camellia said as she dashed out of the room causing Zoki the frown.
"That woman...she's not entirely human," Zoki made a random comment as Katto scoffed.654Please respect copyright.PENANAfiHWGQWr64
"I don't have any interest in that, and I'm more interested in these hollowed knights. I only know a few creatures that have that ability to create such a thing,"
"Yeah," Silver replied before frowning, "holy ones..."
