Dorian had never been so happy to have an empty train car as he sat down beside Reina and leaned back into the chair, making sure to set his cape out of the way. They hadn’t expected anyone to be on the train as late in the afternoon it was with the sunset turning the sky orange and pink. Both of them admitted that it had been a surprise earlier in the day that it had been so busy on their way into the city.
“I think a nice hot bath when I get home sounds nice,” Reina stretched. “Maybe put on the kettle…definitely get these boots off.”
“Really does sound nice, doesn’t it?” Dorian yawned. “And just think that I’ve also got these fangs to take care of…wishing I’d brought their case, if I’m honest.” He ran his tongue along them, gently pushing on them to find that they were still sturdy. “At least they didn’t fall out….”
“I really had fun with you today,” Reina smiled, sighing. “I’m sure it would’ve been just as fun on my own, but there’s something about doing it with someone else….” She looked over at him. “You make an excellent Lord Falesi…handsome and brooding just like he is.”
“And you were stunningly beautiful,” he replied. “I’d say you’d give Sienna a run for her money….” If Dorian’s brain could’ve made the sound of a record scratching, it would have. “I mean…cosplaying as her. Not that you’re not beautiful when you’re just you, I was just saying….” Reina put a finger to his lips as he stammered to get him to shut up.
“I understand what you meant,” she assured. “And thanks for telling me you think I’m beautiful….” She sat back and Dorian hoped that his flushed cheeks could be excused by the sunlight. “You’re so cute when you’re flustered, y’know?” He shyly looked away as whatever it was that had stirred inside him, reared its head again. It was urging him to do something, but he sat still and felt his heart beat faster and faster. “Anyway, I’m thinking I should start thinking about my next cosplay.”
“Already got some ideas?” Dorian asked, turning back to look at her.
“A few, yeah,” she admitted. “Some specific, some not…I’ve kinda thought I’d look good as a maid….” This would’ve been a moment for Dorian to choke or spit if he had something to drink, but it just accelerated his already quick heartbeat and his eyes grew wide at the thought. As much as he hoped she hadn’t noticed, Reina’s smirk told him otherwise. “Dorian…you alright over there…?”
“Yep,” he lied, poorly. “Absolutely fine….” Reina leaned over close to his ear.
“Maybe I can get the uniform on my own,” she whispered, teasingly. “And then maybe take some pictures on my own, too…and send them to you….” He looked at her out of the corner of his eyes, trying to control his breathing at how close she was. She pressed herself into him which only made things worse. “You’d like that, wouldn’t you, you little degenerate…?”
“That’s not fair,” he breathed. “That’s one hundred percent not fair….”
“I thought you said you didn’t mind my teasing so much,” she chuckled, moving back. “But I’ll play nice…for now, anyway.” Dorian breathed a sigh of relief but could still feel the thoughts brewing in the back of his head. They weren’t going to leave any time soon and he was concerned of the direction his dreams would go. “But I guess we’ll have to wait for the next even, huh?”
“Yeah, there won’t be another one so close for a while,” Dorian agreed, trying to get himself under control. “But October’s coming up so we’ll have the perfect excuse…. Halloween is a cosplayer’s perfect holiday….”
“You really do just like to show off your skills, don’t you?” Reina poked.
“Since I don’t get to very often in the real world, yes, yes I do,” he admitted. “Besides, doesn’t Sacred Heart also have a masquerade ball or something every year?” Reina nodded. “Dammit…I was going to ask Liz for a costume from back home…oh well…I’ll text her later.”
