Born to a Spanish mother and Muslim father, Basilio grew up in Valencia. After his mother died when he was aged 7, Basilio's father packed their things and moved them back to his homeland only to be rejected. Forced to the streets, Basilio's father made a game of it.
"His father had explained to him the arrangements he made with some vendors. As long as they don't see him, Basilio could have as much fruit as he'd like."
With a heavy heart and for his own survival, Basilio's father gives him up to an order of killers. Life as an assassin might be wrong and crooked, but Basilio would get proper meals and learn to take care of himself.
After making friends with fellow outcasts, a secret group of loyalists are created. Basilio is one of the few who desperately believes their order will change for the better once their true leader returns. At 19, Basilio rallies the loyalists to begin the secret planning of an uprising.
While on assignment in a different city, Basilio and his best friend are ambushed. Being chased through the city, Basilio and Tazim are hurt and separated. While Tazim is found and taken home, Basilio is left forgotten.
Appearance: Basilio is tanned from being outdoors all day. Freckles scatter across his nose and during the summer he turns pink under the sun. His hair is curly and dark. When shorter, he leaves it unkept. He doesn't like having nothing to hide behind. Due to an unfortunate evaluation, Basilio broke his nose at 16. Having never set it correctly, he was left with a peculiar bump along the bridge of his nose.
Lean and athletic, Basilio is the fastest among his friends and the stealthiest. He isn't very skilled in fighting, he just knows when to get out of the way and is quick witted. As he gets older, he builds more muscle and learns from his friends' skills.
Personality: He hides behind his smile and teasing. Basilio has seen and felt too much abandonment and resentment in his life that he doesn't want anyone to feel that way. He will willingly take any lost soul under his wing and teach them right from wrong. He supports his friends and is loyal to the bitter end.
Knowing fully well that his friends have been personally wronged by their current leader, Basilio secretly craves acceptance as well as retribution for loved ones. Strengths: Swimming. Having spent his childhood enveloped in water everyday, Basilio is nearly half fish. When competing with Tazim in a race, Basilio nearly drowns him when they began to fight. Can hold his own with a blade but is even better with poisons. Tazim teaches him courage with a sharp knife.
Weaknesses: Loyalty and emotion. Although they had some arguments, Basilio is never able to fully be mad at Tazim. It's difficult for Basilio to keep his emotions hidden. He often covers his face when the situation gets too heavy. He has trouble hiding his tears.
