This is a letter to my best friend, who moved last year. I used to have a massive crush on him, but now I'm not so sure. I originally wrote this for my Songs and Poems page.196Please respect copyright.PENANA45l9ROCCnX
Dear ----
I don't remember meeting you, you were always there.
There to have fun and play without care.
So young at the time, alone in our world.
The best friendship of all, being unfurled.
I hope you don't read this, you know who I am.
Skip forward a few years, meet the whole fam.
You, me, my sis, and your bros,
Dancing with the rain drenching our clothes.
There at the lake, planning out games.
Things we made up made us look insane.
My dad drove the boat, pulling two tubes with us four.
My sis, your first brother, battling us. It was war!
Winters were simply just more of the same.
Sledding down hills we wanted to tame.
A couple years later, we're saying goodbye.
You guys were moving. My throat went dry.
Across this old country, with no way to talk.
I want to go see you, but that's a long way to walk.
Then on my last birthday, we met up with you guys.
Offroading in Moab, I barely met your eyes.
In the back of a Jeep in inky black.
Your youngest brother between us, on this long track.
The next day we left, yet another farewell.
I forced on a smile and put up with hell.
You and your bros have been back with your mom.
We went hiking once, in that wintry calm.
But I haven't seen you since, and it's murder on me.
We were best friends, all of us, free.
What's my point? I'll just cut to the chase.
I miss you, ----, and you're gone with no trace.
If you come back, you'd be welcome here.
But if you don't, Adieu! 'Til the next year.
