(Belle’s p.o.v.)
I knew some part of me was missing.
I can feel it at the edge of my mind, but as I reach for it, it slips from my grasp. Then I’m back to square one. Everything else is foggy, even though I know my name and age. Out of reach.
The mirrors are the same.
Broken
Shattered
They remind me of myself.
I touched the mirror. It is cool to touch. I looked around as I drew my hand back. There aren't any doors or windows. Just glass, above and below. So, I walk through my mirrored prison, hoping I can find my way out.
I’ve walked and walked, but everything is the same.
Nothing has changed. Nothing out of the ordinary has faltered.
Tears leak from my eyes as frustration, mixed with confusion, wraps around me, choking me. Making it harder to breathe. I lean my head against the glass, hoping to find some kind of solstice within myself, but I all I feel is emptiness.
A loneliness that gnaws at my soul.
I question if I was alive or not. If this is real. If it’s an illusion that my mind has made up to protect me from harm. I wonder.
And yet no results.
The familiar giggling from the field shakes me out of my thoughts. She’s back. The girl with the black kaleidoscope eyes was back.
“You know you can get out of here on your own, right?”
I frown as she giggles and twirls around in her white dress.
“It’s actually quite sssimple. I’ll tell you how if you let me in.” She said, flicking my forehead, her eyes spinning.
“And what makes you think I’ll do that?”
The girl shrugs.
“I don’t, but if you want to get out asss badly asss I think you do, you’d bessst let me in, that fragile head of yoursss.”
I shake my head. I wasn’t allowing that thing to swim around in my head. Hell, no.
“No.”
“Oh, Belle. Sssuch a ssstubborn one, aren’t we?” she tsks. “Well, sssuit yourssself. I’ll come back when you get your head out of your ass, toddlesss.”
She waves then disappears into nothing.
Then I'm back to square one.
