It was almost peaceful, the sound of shoes crushing on the dirt and breathing. They're breathing.
Step

CRACK
A loud twig snaps as Tetsu walks on it. Tetsu then stopped for a second and started to look around everywhere, scared.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing." Tetsu then started to keep walking.
Is it something I did? Was it what I said? Why can't I think of why this man is mad at me? That's all that went through the mind of Yuto as Tetsu kept walking in front of him and wouldn't comment or say a word.
Step
Step
CRACK
Another twig Tetsu stepped on and then he stopped and looked around everywhere before stretching and counting his walk.
"Are you mad at me?" Yuto just asked straight up.
"What makes you think that?" Tetsu said as he turned around to look at Yuto's confused face.
"Well you raised your voice, and your face scrunched up and you violently grabbed me. You weren't happy with me and now you stopped talking. Was it something I said?"
"So, now you want to be good at reading people. Forget about what I did there, it made me angry at myself."
"I don't understand."
"That's what I like about you right now," Tetsu said as he looked forward again and started his walk.
Step
Step
SQUISH
A liquidy sound the ground made as Yuto looked down at what he stepped in.
"Why did you stop walking?" Tetsu asked as he looked at what Yuto saw.
Another dead body. Bones poking out and jolting out in different directions. The body had stab wounds all over, no clothes, and missing limbs. It was a boy who was older than Yuto but not Tetsu. He had black hair, and his eyes were brown but that is hard to tell from what he looked like now.
"There's another body."
"Yeah. I stepped over it for a reason. Now those shoes I crafted for you are stained with more blood."
"Shoes?"
"You don't even realize the things I do for you. Also, why did you give up on leaning on me? You're injured."
"I didn't want to burden you."
"Don't say that. Lean on me. That's what I'm here for."
Yuto then started to lean on Tetsu as they continued their slow walk. Still, Yuto looked back at the dead body they were casually walking away from. It looked like a rabid beast got to it and just tore it apart.
It chewed up sides, with its lack of limbs, a tongue that got taken since it's missing, and eyes that looked alive, like he was alive. Yet still held fear and a cold and dull presence. It was something Yuto was struggling with seeing every three seconds. Yet Tetsu just walks away without batting an eye.
"Tetsu."
"Yes?"
"How can you keep such a straight face?"
"When?"
"When you see dead bodies."
"Because I've seen so many. I've seen so many that I feel weird if I don't see them."
"I don't think I could ever get used to that."
"You probably couldn't. Deep down inside I even still feel a little sick."
"Really?"
"What? I'm still human. It's only a small part of me, however... Mainly because of their kids. I hate seeing the precious young die."
"I see."
Step
Step
CRACK
Tetsu then looked around before he closed his eyes.
"Something's near."
"What!?"
"Quiet. Don't make a scene. I can't tell if it's a monster or not. I also don't know when another breeze could come in."
"What should we do?"
"We should get ready to run. If you were leaning on me the whole time you would be in a better condition."
"Sorry."
"It's okay. You're going to live, unless you want to die?"
"I don't."
"Then force yourself to live then."
"That's impossible."
"Then I guess you're dying."

"That's the spirit."
That's when the sound of crying could be heard.
"Do monsters cry?"
"I don't think they do. If so, this is a very smart one... That's possible."
"What now?"
"I'm going to investigate. Split the torches with me. I'll take one and you keep two."
"A monster might get you through. You're light won't be enough."
"I'm going to pray there is a god out there, and he'll let me live. I don't want to leave someone with nothing in this twisted place. I want to at least try to hand out a little of this torchlight."
That's when Tetsu went over towards the crying sound leaving Yuto alone.
Maybe, he's not a bad guy. Yuto thought as he instantly felt anxiety and paranoia looking around everywhere, not missing a hint of darkness. A slow crawl went up his skin and when he looked down at his leg nothing was there. He then felt it on his back and turned around and nothing was there.
Am I going crazy? Was all Yuto could think looking around as he kept feeling it and looking at the crawl but seeing nothing there.
Yuto then felt the crawl on his neck and knew this time, nothing was there so he stopped and took a deep breath and the sensation was gone.
"Easy fix." That's when Yuto felt the crawling feeling again on his leg but he took a deep breath and it was gone.
"Real easy." That's when the crawling feeling started to return but this time in the same spot.
"I refuse." That's when it started to go faster on his leg.
"What on ear-" Yuto looked down to see a super small bug crawling up his leg.
"Oh my... it's just a bug. Just a bug." Yuto smashed it on his leg even hurting himself when he did so.
"Yuto you scare yourself too much," Yuto said as he relaxed. Breathing. There was breathing on his neck and Yuto stopped moving. He didn't know what to do. It was on his neck, he felt as if he just couldn't move a single bone. Run. He needed to run. But he just stood there, in utter fear. That's when the breathing stopped and footsteps behind him could be heard as they made their way to the front of him.
There it was. A four-arm beast stood in front of him and started to sniff around before it looked Yuto dead in the eye and started to reach its hand towards Yuto. Yuto just couldn't scream or move, death was flashing before his eyes, and he knew it was his time.
I had a good time. Still, so many questions, however like Tetsu said, all his friends end up dead in hours. At least I'm the longest. That's gotta count for something? Probably doesn't...
Yuto thought to himself as it circled him because of the moment. He knew he had to run but he just couldn't.
The Monster's hand was now inches away from him. It dripped off blood and other fluids Yuto couldn't make out. Yet it dropped on the floor in clots making Yuto feel as if he wanted to puke. It was slimy but it looked clear and smooth and the other fluid looked green and chewy. It was a clear, red, green, goopy, clotty bloody mess.
That's when Yuto felt it, the nerves from his body disappearing and the pain slowly draining. Yuto finally knew why he didn't run, why he didn't get scared, and why he hates where he is. He wants to die. If it means leaving this hellhole then he wants to die. Yuto didn't want to say the words, since it would be his last.
Yet, death seemed more fun than anything living could give him. He can't believe he tried to convince himself that he didn't want to die back then. How stupid is that!? So Yuto smiled as he let the monster take his life.
