I spent a few hours packing up and chatting with my two best friends, my only friends really. Watching Victoria flirt shamelessly with Declan, wondering if maybe he likes her too, although he seems pretty oblivious to the fact that she likes him. Maybe I'll talk to him and find out. I was starting to get pretty sore, but we finally finished and after Declan left, I took the opportunity to tell Victoria about the guy I ran into today. She wiggled her brows at me, "Someone's got a stalker," she laughed out. "Come on be serious, that guy was creepy as hell, I can't believe he followed me to work." She was too giddy though, "maybe he has some kind of waitress fantasy he wanted to role play with you. You don't have to be a virginal prude forever you know. You've never even kissed anyone" She was wiggling her eyebrows again as she said this. I sighed at her, " I'm not a prude, I just don't want to throw my cat and everyone that looks my way, I want something special with someone that loves me, besides I've been too busy with school and now work to even think about anyone that way." "Well, you should start thinking about it now, you'll even have your own place to 'throw your cat around'" She said, quoting me, " I gotta go Chica, but think about it. Goodnight" She gave me a quick hug and then headed out leaving me alone to my thoughts. Victoria would be back in the morning to drive me and all my stuff to my new place. I took some Tylenol to help ease the pain from my sore muscles, it was starting to feel like they were all cramping up at the same time and get ready for bed. It wasn't that late yet, only 8 pm, but I had a big day tomorrow and I wanted to get started early. After donning my usual pajamas of shorts and a tank top, I turned out the lights and climbed into bed. Excited for the next day, moving into my new apartment and having a small birthday celebration with my friends, I settled in for the night and fell asleep quickly.
I was enjoying a dreamless sleep for the first night in at least a week when I started to feel hot, and not just a little but like fire was licking my bones, I jerked awake feeling sick, and in so much pain I could hardly see straight. What the hell is wrong with me? Glancing at the clock it was after midnight, happy freaking birthday to me. The pain kept getting worse, rolling through my body like waves, I fell out of bed and was writhing in pain on the floor, I was getting hotter, it was too hot in this house, I needed to get outside. I crawled over to my door using the dresser beside it as leverage, I finally managed to haul myself up to stand and open the door, as I walked down the hall, I let out muffled whimpers as I tried not to wake anyone else. I managed to get down the stairs before I collapsed and crawled the rest of the way to the back door, it was closer and I didn't think I'd ever make it to the front. My bones felt like they were cracking from the heat and pain in wracking my body. I made it outside and into the yard just before I felt a searing pain at the base of my skull that reverberated through my head and my bones started snapping as I screamed in pain. I lay in the grass panting and turned my head to the side just as vomit rushed it's way up my throat and out of my mouth. Catching my breath I lifted my self up onto my arms, when I opened my eyes, and saw that strange guy that had followed me to the diner, staring at me. I was terrified, what was happening? I wanted to scream at him but when I opened my mouth I felt a horrible pain in my jaw as I felt my teeth getting longer and sharper, I closed my eyes as I felt my spine snap and collapsed back onto the ground..
I must have passed out and I'm dreaming, because when I opened my eyes again looking for that strange man he was gone but there was a wolf at the edge of the woods behind the house, looking at me. But this isn't the same wolfI normally dream of, this one is silvery with golden eyes.I push myself up and look down at my hands, except they aren't there, I have paws! I was seriously starting to freak out, panicking I started running. I ran into the woods as fast as I could, I don't understand what's going on, I have to be dreaming, but it all feels so real, I run until I can't anymore, I'm panting and so thirsty, I see a stream up ahead and stop looking down I see the large black wolf from my dream, but this wolf has my eyes. A whimper escapes, and then I hear the snapping of twigs behind me, I spin around and a horrifying growl reverberates from deep in my chest.
It's the silver wolf slinking towards me low to the ground, my ears lay back flat as I continue growling at him, he comes closed slowly, sniffing the air. Curious, I sniff the air as well and when his scent hits me I can feel another consciousness come alive in my mind, my wolf. She's shouting at me, one word over and over. MATE, MATE, MATE. I don't know what that means but she's pushing toward the front of my mind taking over. She's in charge now, and she creeps closer to the silver wolf, scenting him again, I can feel her excitement, this wolf smells divine, woodsy but with an undercurrent of something spicy, she knows he isn't a threat, but I'm not sure how she does. He gets up and walks over to my wolf and she does the most ridiculous thing, rolling over and showing him her belly. I don't know muchabout wild animals, but this seems like a bad idea. The huge silver wolf is standing above us and all I can think of is that a wolf of this monstrous size could surely end us in about half a second. I was still reeling, thinking to myself that I still didn't understand, my wolf felt a general annoyance that I wasn't as enthralled at this moment as she was, but I needed answers about what the hell was going on with me. The wolf above us moved and that brought our attention right back to him immediately, I was terrified. He was bringing his mouth closer to our underbelly, the she wolf was ecstatic at this, I however was concerned. The silver wolf lowered head and began rubbing his muzzle against our soft flesh, when he was finished my wolf stood up and began rubbing her head up under his jaw against his neck, then rubbing her body against the soft fur on his flank.
They looked at each other for a moment, and then my wolf was telling me to take over and shift back, but I didn't know how, I was going to stuck like this. I started panicking. Just think about what it feels like to be human, focus on yourself and how you look, how it feels to be in your own body, and throw your mind forward, she whispered into my mind as she shrank back leaving room for me to come forward. I did as she said and with another sharp crack and shifting bones I was standing naked in the woods with this giant wolf mine called our mate. "No the fuck I'm not!" I screamed at him and turned to run away, sprinting back to Amelia's house as fast as I could, but Blane was faster, I heard him roar out behind me and then I was lifted off my feet as he spun me around and crushed me to his chest, I was shoving against him and trying to get away, he growled at me as I struck out at him. He brought his face down by mine but I jerked my head to the side, this man would not kiss me. I definitely didn't expect what happened next though, I gasped in shock and outrage and began fighting him harder as his mouth landed on my neck, he growled out low and I stilled, I felt his teeth scrape against the skin, tears began falling down my face as he whispered, "sorry for this." Then I felt his teeth piercing my flesh, for a moment it felt like I got hit by lightning. My whole body felt electric, but then the realization that some freak just bit me set in and I screamed as it all became too much to handle, I was going to pass out, I felt him pick me up and cradle me to him as he started running, I heard a car door open and the last thing I felt was him cradle my face before he shut the door and I blacked out.
