Jordan Clare's POV
I don't know exactly what happened. I contemplated asking that question for a few minutes and I should have gone with my gut, I knew that it meant something that he didn't want to bring up. Maybe one day, I think, but before I could process that, my mind switches and I whisper underneath my breath, "maybe not," and cross my arms and slouch back in my seat.
"Maybe not what?" I hear someone say. It wasn't Luca.
"Oh nothing," I say suddenly sitting up straight and uncross my arms. "I didn't mean to say anything out loud." I'm not looking up at them, but I can tell its a girl, she's wearing white shoes that have red roses along the bottom side. With my head down, all I can see are her legs, which are smooth and shiny and i can see the hem of her black skirt that stops halfway down her thigh. Her skin reminds of milk chocolate and I can't help but look up at her.
"Date stand you up?" she questions looking directly at me. Her gaze leaves me feeling flushed. It feels like my insides are on fire and doing flips at the same time and I know for sure that my entire face and ears must look like a tomato. I couldn't help it, her eyes were the shade of the deepest emerald green, her lips the softest, plushest lips you could think of, light pink and full. Even with her darker complexion, you could tell that she had a collection of natural freckles crowding her nose and cheeks. "You know, are you near here? I've never seen you around here."
I continue to look at her for a moment, I only here the last part of what she said and I realize I am staring. I quickly turn to look down at the table and immediately a blush spreads across my cheeks. I nod, "Yea, I'm new and no I didn't have a date, it was, I just saw someone I met the other day and we decided to get drinks and then I guess I mentioned something I shouldn't have."
I hadn't realized, since my head was still down, my hands wringing my wrists, she had gravitated closer to me and her body was close enough to mine know I could spell her sweet perfume. I took a steadying breath, she smelled of vanilla. But not just any vanilla, a scent so pure it doesn't quite smell that vanilla but definitely is. She places a hand on my shoulder and I look up at her. Her eyebrows furrowed slightly in concern and eyes soft, lips slightly pouted as if she new what I was going through.
"Scoot over." That's all she says and I do. I scoot over closer to the window and she slides in beside me and reaches for my hand, which is still in my lap.
She brings my hand over to her lap and she lays both of her hands on either sides of it. It's quiet for a moment, her head still down looking at my hand and her hands together set on her knee.
I'm about to say something when I hear his familiar voice boom right in front of us. "Get up, Nova."
"And why should I do that. He's sad can't you see, I was just comforting him. His only supposed friend left him here." She lets go of my hand quickly releasing it back to my lap, where i just place them under my thighs, realization hits her and she stands up quickly before poking her finger into his check. Shocked he takes a step back, "It was you wasn't it. He's literally been here what, like a week. I would've known if he was here longer than that. I know everything here. And why do you care if I talk to him. You don't even like having friends, you say they are a waste of time."
Peoples heads are already turned in out direction and sink further into the cushioned seat. "Guys I say, please stop. I don't want this." Immediately, Luca straightens his posture, his shoulders relax and he apologizes before sitting back down. Nova scoffs and turns to walk away but I stop her. "Um Nova right?" she stops walking and slowly turns her head to me and I continue, "Would you like to join us?" She turns around and takes a seat beside me. I notice Luca's newly relaxed shoulders stiffen, but only for a moment, I face her before he can notice that I noticed the gesture.
"Do you have a phone?" I nod and grab it out of my back pack that I completely forgot was sitting in between me and the window. She takes it out of my hand and begins typing. her phone in her hand buzzes. "There, now you can text me later, when he he's not here to bother us." She smiles while returning to her feet, giving a slight wink and walking away swaying her hips in the process.
I was completely stunned and had no idea what to do. Did I just get her number. The hottest girl I have ever seen. I did that, somehow.
I look at Luca, his jaw is set with anger and the veins in his neck are beginning to show, but he's looking out the window and not at me.
